>>9494702I still find it funny that Jack has literally one concept art, just a single one (unless we count the Savage Seas/City posters), and he has evolved (kind of) into this mess we have today. Hell, Skye has two and it took her forever to become popular. There are some people who think Jack was the protagonist, when it seems that either Nick was the protag, or they both shared the spotlight equally. Can't say I am too surprised though; before Jack came along there were already people using rabbit OCs as a love rival against Nick. All Jack did was give everyone a cookie cutter OC to use, who is also superior to Nick and Judy.

>>9495660They could have given her some variation of the police officer shirt and pants; instead they give her a skin tight suit to fit her wide hips. Thinking on that, I like how they managed to make Judy look both cute as well as give her a figure that shows she is an adult. I find that artists sometimes have a hard time getting that balance right. Either they make her look too cute and kid like, or they go full on human woman figure.

>>9496787you have to do it, at least to vent out, don't post it if you don't want to.
>>9496657Just think of why you write. Empty yourself of all good and bad feelings as that's not what you're about, and focus on why you want to write. If you can't think of anything than don't. There's plenty of other things to occupy your time with, I'd recommend something constructive.Get excited about what you do, because if you can't get excited about it, why should anyone else? Unfortunately, this place may not share your level of enthusiasm for your work as they get caught up on other things. Write for yourself.
>>9496787>>9496825Art is about to express your feelings
>>9496744i've struggled with depression for years now, and i've never understood this. sadness and anxiety are paralyzing, not enabling.with depression, you have no energy to write in the first place, and doing so feels pointless anyway.with anxiety, intrusive, racing thoughts crowd out all ability to focus.good writing comes from empathy and cultivated creativity, not romanticized mental illnesses
>>9496657Alcohol helps.
>>9496891Go away clunk
>>9496730Always an option :P>>9496657>>9496722You could always try the 5 minute method! Put five minutes on the clock and start writing, no matter what.Just takes five minutes, and could be a way to get started!I like doing some light exercise when I feel stuck, too. Taking a walk and getting out of my usual environment can be like a mental reset. And of course, a cup of water or coffee or tea does wonders!Hope you feel better, anons!
>>9496869>Depression That's different than sadness>from empathy and cultivated creativity, not romanticized mental illnessesWhat is good or bad is relative>>9496891No, it doesn't
>>9496869THANK you. Always frustrating seeing people romanticize mental illness in this way. You literally do not want to write. It's not something you just power through and channel. It's like saying you have the flu, so you should use those aching muscles as incentive to move. The symptom is literally the thing stopping you from doing it. It's not being sad, or angry, which can be channeled. Depression literally shreds apart your desire to move forward or take action, making you apathetic even toward simple goals.
>>9496869>>9496949Original post said "sad" not depression.
>>9496949People also blow basic emotions way out of proportion like you're doing right now. Just because you're sad doesn't mean you have depression, and BEING depressed does not mean you have clinical depression.
>>9497000Also included anxiety, so I think they're fucked regardless.
>>9496869Ha! Finally have the chance to use this one.
>>9496949You know, when you put it like that, those comics about comic artists with anxiety and depression make more sense; they're uncreative and basic, lazy and apathetic things. They truly have depression and are stuck expressing their rut to the point that that sad rut of depression IS the content created.

>>9497405Judy probably assumed Nick's opinion would be the same. It probably truly surprises her that Nick isn't a Planned Parenthood-donating piece of shit like her.Social issues were never a big topic of conversation in the Wilde/Hopps apartment, apparently.
>>9497405And to think, Nick would have probably agreed with the whole thing if she hadn't brought her fucking career into it. He was definitely iffy about her concern that it would be life-threatening, but he would have turned around on a fucking dime if it became clear that the child could fucking kill her or something. But no, she had to say she was an inspiration, and had to kill their testament to natural enemies being able to co-exist because it might turn off a fucking possum or groundhog from joining the ZPD. Then she gets all freaky when Nick just puts into words exactly what she's fucking going to do, slaps him, and then boom, relationship over. For fuck's sake.
>>9497405Perfect logic and not retarded at all.
>>9497408>>9497502>>9497562This just keeps getting better and better.

Hello thread it's been ages. Well I manged to finally get around to scanning up this artbook here, I'm not going to dump the contents but its all SFW and includes various comics and still images. Some good, some bad. Feel free to pick apart what you enjoy out of it. This book cost me probably around 60 or 70 bucks to track down and then import it as for whatever reason this book in particular was hard to find. Also it was the source of some comic involving Weaselton that I've seen a few glimpses of posted but never the full thing.https://e-hentai.org/g/1066536/b2fc288ef2/https://imgur.com/a/WoLCBHere is 2 different galleries to browse depending on your preferences. It's been a long time but I still sort of exist, and still track down things to scan that much hasn't changed.

>>9498506Holy crap, 60-70 for the whole thing? Damn, thank you for finding this and scanning it!
>>9498727Trust me neither can I. Well sorta, if I spent a very long time I could translate shit but I'm way too lazy and have a job.As far as I can gather one of the artists set up this whole fanbook thing and let people email contributions to it and all that fun jazz. I'm going to guess it was at least somewhat curated. In my experience with compilation art books like this from Japan, this is pretty common to see. The great artists usually don't want or don't have time to plaster it with great art so they contribute one or two pieces for a media they really enjoy. On the other hand the lower end artists want to get their foot in the door in a way and to have their names attached to projects and will pump out a higher quantity of content in order to do so. Or alternatively these bad artists tend to be good friends with someone working on this and they get in that way.>>9498777I wouldn't expect him to translate all this it's wayyyy too long. maybe an actual choice comic or two out of it since each individual comic is pretty short in length, but it's a ton for one person to pull. Though I guess at least most pieces don't need much more then a single sentence to translate.

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/disney-seeks-dismissal-zootopia-copyright-lawsuit-1006641>The Walt Disney Company is looking to cage a high-stakes lawsuit that accuses the studio of copying work to create the Oscar-winning animation film Zootopia. On Monday, Disney brought a motion to dismiss a complaint from Esplanade Productions and characterized the lawsuit as "just another example in a long history of plaintiffs coming out of the woodwork after a motion picture has achieved critical and financial success to claim credit — and proceeds — where none is due.">A California federal judge will decide whether Esplanade gets to move forward on its claim that Gary L. Goldman pitched work to defendants only to have his treatment, synopsis, character descriptions, character illustrations and other materials misappropriated. Goldman is represented by the prominent law firm of Quinn Emanuel and his credits include writing Total Recall and Next and producing Minority Report. Disney's view of the Zootopia suit as "just another" money grab is somewhat belied by its choice of Daniel Petrocelli, a power litigator at O'Melveny, to lead the defense.>Disney is treating the case seriously, although Petrocelli takes a rather straightforward approach in seeking dismissal by arguing that Esplanade's complaint hasn't plausibly demonstrated enough substantial similarity between Zooptopia and Goldman's work, dubbed Looney. Disney's lawyer ignores Goldman's alleged contacts with Disney executives — which is important, because where a high degree of access is shown in copyright cases, a lower standard of proof of similarity is necessary — and instead faults the plaintiff for not attaching its synopsis, treatment or copyright application, "thereby preventing both the Court and Defendants from performing a complete side-by-side comparison."
>>9499282>In light of this absence, Disney reads into the complaint, for example "deduc[ing] from the sparse allegations that Looney's hero is actually a human animator.">Petrocelli attempts to emphasize dissimilarity.>"Looney is a treatment and synopsis for a live-action picture about the struggles and growth of a male human animator who creates a world of animated characters," he writes. "Zootopia is an animated motion picture about a bunny protagonist who interacts only with anthropomorphic talking animals. There are no humans, and there is no live-action component.">The dismissal motion (read in full here) also looks to knock Esplanade for merely pleading "similarity of high-level ideas" (as copyright protects expression, not ideas).>"Plaintiff’s allegations really only describe a buddy movie that features two contrasting protagonists who partner to solve a problem in the face of adversity, precisely the kind of 'basic plot idea' that courts have consistently dismissed as unprotected," states the motion.>Disney also aims to undercut allegations regarding the similarity of characters, both on a broad level ("the mere use of animated animals in motion pictures is unprotected by copyright law and cannot sustain a claim of substantial similarity") as well as on a granular one: "Judy [from Zootopia] is a rabbit; Mimi [Goldman's creation] is a squirrel. Judy is shown wearing a police officer’s uniform; Mimi wears no clothing at all. Judy is a complex three-dimensional, full color, computer-animated character; Mimi is a two-dimensional hand drawing. No reasonable juror could view these two characters and conclude that they are substantially similar.">Then, there's the fact that the complaint alleged that in some fashion, Goldman used or pitched "Zootopia" for his own work.>Disney considers precisely how Goldman used the word to be vague. Notwithstanding this, the defendants say that "Zootopia" has been applied in other real-world contexts.
>>9499300>"For example, since at least 2012, the name 'Zootopia' has been associated with a zoo in Denmark," states the dismissal motion. "And it has been used since 1999 as the name of a New York area radio station’s annual concert series. Plaintiff’s insinuation that it alone created and coined the term is flatly wrong. Anyway, as Plaintiff readily admits, '[t]itles...[are] not independently copyrightable.”>Such might be true, although in light of other associations highlighted by Disney, it bears noting that the studio earlier this month was granted a trademark registration certificate on "Zootopia.">As for copyright registration (copyright protects authorship while trademark protects the sourcing of goods and services), Disney says that Esplanade's failure to register until Feb. 10, 2017, after Zootopia was released, bars the plaintiff from recovering its attorneys' fees and statutory damages. That might be a moot point anyway because with Zootopia commanding more than a billion dollars in box-office revenue, the plaintiff may elect actual damages instead. So kids, when are we gonna get Zis-Looney?
>>9499282>>9499300>>9499321Could a legalfag or a Disneyfag tell me if this might be holding up any Zoot stuff coming our way from the big D?
>>9499321I normally hate siding with the evil empire (Disney) but if the descriptions of Goldman's are accurate, this should be dismissed almost instantly. Like what the hell?

>>9499546Which is funny to me since Animalympics is worked on by a Goldman, as well- but it's Graham Goldman of 10cc.and the animators of this later went on to Disney.
>>9499611No, but hopefully this will still make you happy.

>>9499717It would be neat if the original script was done, but Bakshi isn't what he used to be so it just wouldn't be the same.
>>9499388hard to say, it could be both ways.1, Either they see this as a set back because of the lawyers and other expenses with the case uses up too much of the budget that they've put aside for Zootopia's purpose.2,They will think "Hell, if we had to put this much money to defend our rights AND merch of zootopia, we might as well make some finally to make it come back!... otherwise this whole lawsuit was a waste of money for us"
>>9499321>>9499474Disney is defending itself with everything I've said this will defend themselves after I read the lawsuit... and I'm not even a lawyer. This is just simple human logic. This lawsuit stinks

So here's my attempt to reconcile Borba's reasons with what I feel to be slightly more accurate representations of character. 3-parter.>“Nick…I don’t want this baby.”>And in the blink of an eye, an oceanic chasm had been rent between them with those words. A schism so incalculably vast that each side sat unseeable from the other.>And in the crushing silence that followed, Nick attempting to swallow away the dryness in his throat seemed as thunderous as a car wreck.>From here, Nick knew, there were three options. Remove himself from the situation as a child would, one that cannot come to terms with the situation at hand and seeks only to pretend it doesn’t exist. Option two was to immediately retreat to an emotional position and fortify it as a bastion against her equally emotional state, and option three was to sit and listen to her fears.>Luckily, the experience of age had tempered Nick well and he knew exactly which path to take.>His glare of disbelief softened and his ears pricked just slightly. He took Judy gingerly by the arm and sat down on the couch, gently trying to pull her down with him. “Can we talk about it?”>Judy, who had just a moment before been steeling herself for the storm ahead, let go of her breath and relented to his pull. She plopped onto the couch beside him, opting to take his paw in hers.>“What’s troubling you, Carrots?” He chose his words carefully, deliberately. This was clearly not a time for his sarcasm or flippancy. “Lay it out for me.”>She held her breath again for a moment more as she thought of what to say, trying so hard to collate her speeding thoughts in such a way that would allow her mouth to keep up with her brain. >“I’m scared… of – of what might happen. A predator and prey child has never happened before. Who’s to say it won’t be some freak? Something everybody shuns or runs from or–”>“We can’t be sure of that, fluff.”>“Nobody can; that’s why I’m worried.”
>>9500855>Nick pinned his ears back. “Out of curiosity, are you saying – now that we know it’s possible – that you would never consider having a child with me?” >A long pause made the fur all over his body stand straight out, but his fear subsided after Judy quietly muttered, “No.”>He felt her relax just slightly in his arms; the muscles in her body fell slack, like she had just let go of some struggle. >With her answer, both she and Nick knew then that her real fears were still unsaid. >“But what about me? My – my body, my career?”>And as with every animal under the sun, intelligent or otherwise, the most primal, hardwired response is self-preservation. There was nothing selfish about it, nothing to begrudge her for.>She had every reason to be hesitant. Nick was easily twice her size, and a fox kit was probably twice the size of a newborn bunny. One baby might be manageable for her, but twins? Triplets? Real issues could arise. >“As thrilled as the possibility of fatherhood makes me, Judy, I would never in a million years want anything to happen to you. You are completely right; you carrying something even a fraction my size could hurt you. That is not something I’m willing to risk.” >“And I know how important your career is to you. That’s a good reason, too. But that’s what maternity leave is for. Fangmeyer just got back on the beat after having her twins eight months ago. You could talk to her about it; maybe she could ease your mind. And if Bogo’s got anything less than constructive to say I’ll rip into him harder than I did in the Rainforest District.”>Judy shifted her body noticeably, leaning even further into Nick. “I could.” >“And,” Nick went on, emboldened by what he thought was a smile in her words, “we should see a doctor. We might be the first predator and prey to conceive, but there’s no way we’re the first couple that’s had to deal with a difference in size. Right?”
>>9500861>Judy’s shoulders jumped with a barely audible chuckle. “You got that right. You remember last week? That polar bear you brought in for shoplifting had a wolf girlfriend come bail him out. She was a tiny thing next to him.” >Every word she spoke grew softer and the smile he thought he heard earlier became more and more evident the more she talked. >“I know you’re scared, Judy, and I’m not going to try and patronize you by saying I know how you feel or that I know better. But I want to say that – what, you just found out this morning, right?” >“Yeah.” >“So, give it a bit of thought. Let’s talk to Fangmeyer. Most importantly, let’s talk to a doctor. Let’s see what the future might hold before we set it in stone. And I want you to know that whatever comes, I’ll be right beside you the whole way.”>The deafening silence returned but without the gloom it carried before. >Judy let go of one more thoughtful sigh before falling over into Nick’s lap. >The chasm was still there but it had shrank noticeably, and crossing the gap was much easier when both sides try to build bridges. >“I’ve never heard you so mushy in my life, Nick.” >“It was physically painful for me, I assure you.” >“I thought you were going to end it with a Gazelle quote.” >“I might’ve, but I had a feeling you’d have thrown me out the window.”>She giggled softly and spun around to press her face into his shirt before she threw her arms around as much of him as she could. >“I love you, Nick.” >“I love you, too, fluff.”t. toga
>>9500855They'd both want the baby. There's no universe where either of them would not want to raise a child give them everything they wanted when they were kids.

Really though, I honestly feel ashamed about how much I am getting worked up over Borba's comic. And I think it mostly has to do with the fact that he is perverting Zootopia and it's characters, while he is treating it as some kind of grandiose spectacle. I feel embarrassed that it's this well known and positively accepted fucking EVERYWHERE except for here. This made me feel pleasant and happy.
