You know, people always shit on those autists who output absolute abhorrent fics with word counts in the hundreds of thousands, but I would happily take the bullying and potential shame later in life if it meant I could have the motivation and focus to output anything of that size (or really anything at all), as well as the feeling of purpose one gets when they pour their souls into a passion project, a feeling I've personally never felt before in my life.

Don't curse the turtle for diving. Thank him for staying on the surface for so long in the first place.

The previous thread had an anon amazed that a Fic reached nearly 300k words and is still going.
Yet since the actual story is crap and poorly made, long doesn't exactly equal better.

And since many Fic's have been made over the year (and more, kinda) Zootopia has been out, what are some of your anons favorite lengthy Fic's out there?
I mean one's that have been constantly good throughout it's possible long run. I am talking 100k words or more. 50k or more are also fine.

My personal 2 Fic's that fit that mold would be:
Upplet's "When Instinct Falls" A massive 430k word multi-arc epic. With some pretty amazing villains and a very solid romance between Nick and Judy. And they go through some rather impressive challenges and then some through out it.
And the other would be:
CiderStripes "Fallout: Zootopia" Finished with 560k+, it's an OC driven story that even though may take the Fallout and it's general idea's from the first games. But it's plot is fully unique. And the main heroine is quite layered and different, and his action scene's are crazy fun to read. Along with some pretty interesting relationships within it and who they evolve throughout it's run.
>>
>>7788733
I'm not going anywhere.

I don't read pack street or look at the art. I've had it and most OC content filtered from the get-go, and I still find reason to stay here and talk about things.

The threads will be fine.

>>
Remmy's always been a speciest, the only progress he's made is because people were patting him on the back and welcoming him in. He's a fucking fairweather friend through and through. The second things go sour he turns his back on everything. This is not the first time this has happened, and it's completely like him. I just wish it wasn't.

Well, shit just got real. I think the characters felt a little off, but because of the comic.

Great chapter anyways, i think we're reaching the climax, and now things are going to be interesting. Just when the pred/prey schism was getting stronger, now i can expect mammals getting hurt, especially Remmy.

Time for the pack to protect him, or betray him.

There are a few that come to mind;

Born to be Wilde by Berserk88; at about 118K words, amusingly isn't WildeHopps (yet, it remains to be seen), has some pretty good humor, dialogue, and action. A new group is suddenly taking out the biggest criminals in Zootopia, and Nick finds himself pulled between his new life and his old life.

Quid Pro Quo by Anon8043; the 230K word friendship fanfic that I have to keep looking back at the genres to make sure it didn't suddenly switch to romance, Nick sets out the fully remove himself from his old con-life, debts and all, so he can stand by Judy's side.

>Sucks to see Remmy regressing
THAT'S the word I was looking for.

Remmy's not acting out of character. He's always been a just-under-the-surface bigot who only acts agreeable when everyone's being nice and offering the olive branch. He's regressing hard because what he sees as "normal" society shuns the people he hangs out with, and instead of standing with them in solidarity he abandons them like a little pussy.
It's shitty, but it's exactly what a bitch like him would do.

As >>7789180 says.

Pack Street is something to talk about, with a sizable number of characters and a crap ton of fan content to go along with it.

But he isn't ALWAYS here, and things still go on. But when he come's back, of COURSE Anon's are going to talk about it. It's new content and fresh, it's like a brand new movie. When it comes out people are going to talk about it, but interest will calm down once it has it's course. And when it's sequel comes out, things will surge again.

(I don't read Pack Street, nor do I really care about it. But it doesn't mean I won't acknowledge it for what it does, and what it can do.)

I honestly don't think remmy was being overly assholish. He wasn't being okay by any means, but losing a job and everything over his friend's species makes him understandablly angry. He was able to understand when he was being an asshole and apologize to rex, something he wouldn't have done earlier.

I think marty made that joke because he was so shocked about the martina thing. He was sexually thrilled and lashed out ij anger and confusion.

I think that if Remmy had a little time to cool down he would have realized he was being an asshole. He had some time to cool down at BugBurga and he apologized to T-Rex. If he had some time to cool down at home he probably would have been okay. The timing could not be worse.

Maybe it's just me, but the shift in attitude at the beginning of the chapter compared to the chapter before was a bit jarring to me. Perhaps it's just me misreading something, but he goes from being on a not so great date with Anneke that ends with him being compassionate and saying he'd like to have another date to basically what he was like in the first few chapters without much cause for it. I understand that the incident with Pandora, and the realness of the situation that's going on in Zootopia with the savage attacks, have really taken a toll on Remmy. His "firing," while definitely a shitty thing that Remmy is reasonably upset about, doesn't really excuse his sudden change in how he wants to treat everyone, and his feelings on where he lives. He gets fired for not acting like his species "should" in the manager's eyes. That's a terrible thing to have to deal with. But is he really gonna blame his problems on Pack Street and predators as a whole because of his firing, and the savage attacks? That just doesn't seem like Remmy. Maybe Remmy from the first few chapters, but definitely not Remmy from the previous few chapters. Of course, that's my perspective. Still, it just seems kinda weird that he would regress back to a shitty attitude about himself, his situation, and keeping to himself after all the progress he's made. I feel like there's something missing to truly justify his feelings at the beginning of the chapter.

Other than that I really enjoyed this new take on the chapter that started it all and I'm really happy we finally got to this point. Seeing how everyone reacts to the revelation of Mayor Bellwether and her sheep co-conspirators is what I've been waiting for since this series started.

I've thrown some ideas at Boney for a review of sorts and he's given me some pretty good advice on them, which is where the Valentine's Day picture comic came from, so I have one or two more ideas that are pretty much ready to be drawn up.

The thing is, I wouldn't mind retcons in this case at all if it will help fit the narrative of the story so far. After all, this chapter is obviously intended to expand upon what the original comic showed us. I definitely wouldn't have cared if Weaver decided to change a few things to help it fit the story.

Also

>2)remmy's an ass

Yeah he's an ass, but in my opinion he's had way too much character development in the story to try and go back to where Remmy was at in terms of his personalty and attitude in the original comic. To me, the Remmy in the comic feels a lot like Remmy in the early chapters of Pack Street rather than the Remmy we have now.

But that's sort of changed ever since after Remmy blew up on Al and Ozzy. Like I said, he's had a lot of character development, and this chapter seems to downplay quite a lot of it. And it seems to be because it really wants to keep the original comic intact as much as possible. I find that to be a bit of a detriment to the chapter.

Strongly disagree. As someone posted, Remmy is the ultimate fairweather friend and he always regresses to shittiness when things go wrong. He's justifiably mad about losing his job but he overreacts and blames those around him, which is actually 100% in character for him and totally something he'd do. Remmy's always been a racist ram and he's always gotten grumpy when the going gets tough. The going is now tougher than ever and he's regressing HARD.

Yeah, but none of them have the same cult of personality. There's writers better than weaver and artists better than weaver, but he's above average at both so he gets a shitton of attention. If everyone that read pack street would put half as much attention into reading anyone else's fics, they'd find more to enjoy and thusly wouldn't be concerned about weaver's eventual departure.

It's like building the very first thing you've built, only to take this object and toss it out into the trash, along with all the materials you bought from the store to make it.

Maybe seeking e-fame through writing isn't for you. You seem to want it but I don't know why since you just wring your hands over it and don't seem to enjoy it at all.

Are you so up your own ass that you seriously think any dismissal of your ability as a creator is the work of some evil shitposter?

Cuz the truth is that's exactly how a lot of people feel, and the proof is in the fact that many stories breeze by these threads conpletely unnoticed
>>
>>7790767
there's a lot more that people can be criticized for in writing than drawing.
>>
>>7790767
People don't seem too enthusiastic about defending writefags like they do drawfags, so they're an easier target. And the writefags often get worked up about it because the effort:(you) ratio can be brutally high for writefaggotry.

>>
>>7790834
it's harder to get invested with writefags. with drawfags you click the thumbnail and you either like the picture or you don't. with writefags you have to go to pastebin or ao3 or whatever and actually spend however much timer reading
>>
>>7790821

>dismissal

Dismissal of work without giving it a chance is just being an asshole.

Criticizing in a constructive way would not only improve a writer's weak points, but it would show the reader actually cared about the community.

Reading a paragraph and saying the person sucks doesn't accomplish anything.

Just be honest and say you don't have the time or the interest to invest in something or someone you haven't seen pics and comics dedicated to.

It's easy to speculate that even a gifted writer and creator like if Weaver wasn't Weaver and didn't have any art of pack street to his name no one would be interest in a fic series we've all (mostly) come to love.
>>
>>7790867
I feel like writefags have more intimate relationships with their fans, but that translates to less raw (you)s overall so on a surface level it can leave writefaggotry looking underappreciated.

My point was more that it's not just a bad situation, but it's one that's explicitly framed as being on his association with his neighbors. Something so bad came along that it took all this progress he's been making, all the understanding and tolerance he's been developing, and threw it back at him and said THIS IS WHY YOU'RE FIRED.

It inverted everything he's been working for. All the "good" things he's done are now the very reasons he's not going to make rent this month.

I think it's the same as it is here: more liquor stores in lower class areas to keep the poor drunk and poor, bottle service at the clubs, a massive portion of the ZTP dedicated to drunk driving. etc.
>Are mice wines as good as elephant wines?
Is it the same, but portioned differently?
The size of the winemaker only correlates to the amount of wine he can produce, not the quality.

I think it would be to the mountains East of Zootopia. We're looking for climates similar to Italy, France, Spain, the Mediterranean, or Napa. Different grapes grow better based on their climate.

I'm half expecting there to be a moment where he does, but because there isn't an immediate response the narration sinks into self-loathing with Remmy assuming that Al is leaving him high and dry, not just because of the sheep thing, but also because he's been such a woolly pain-in-the-ass, and then at the last minute Al saves his mutton, proving that Remmy's assumptions are once again wrong and Al cares more about pack structure and community.
>>
>>7791322
Remmy identifies heavily as a sheep, which is weird considering how much it's hinted that he was basically booted out of sheep society. Like how he gets mad at being called wannabite or predophile but doesn't care about grazer or whatever.

So he sees a sheep effigy being ripped apart and he doesn't make the logical deduction that it's an effigy of the actual fucking bioterrorist that was making the lives of all of his neighbours a living hell, he sees a sheep being ripped apart and losing his goddamn shit. 1. Neil is just acting in the moment, he's excited, there's a lot of energy in the crowd, and he's in the middle of a mobbing party that's just happy for their future, so expressing that energy against an effigy of the person who's been torturing them for months seems reasonable
2. It's Bellwether, not Remmy, not "any sheep, who cares"
3. Neil doesn't even know Remmy lives there, and he's definitely not doing this as a "hey Remmy look at me" gesture

I find it weird that people will trip over themselves to defend Remmy's asshole behavior and selfish, speciest thoughts but someone else acts out at a party and suddenly everyone's tsk-tsking him for being thoughtless.

Naw. See Remmy is a flawed individual that the point. He's self centered, egocentric and self pitying. He can nice and courteous too but he's so damaged and self conscious because of how he was raised. The side of him that was raised to "follow the herd" is constantly warring with the one aspect of his personality that got him ostracized. The thing is that at his core he wasn't willing to bend on that aspect of himself.

I think him eating meat has become more an act of trying to assert his own sense of self when if he'd just stopped eating meat he probably wouldn't have been kicked out.

This chapter with his job was literally bringing up all the feelings that got him kicked out of home, so he entered a pity party and wanted to blame everyone else.

He's changed because of how readily he apologized to Rex and how he restrained himself from an outburst around Ozzy. Sure he cracked a joke about Marty but that was harmless bantz in the long run.

One thing that stood out is that Remmy kept mentioning that people in the crowd were talking, shouting, cheering things, etc., but we never got to hear it. I bet if Remmy could actually make out the words he might feel differently. It's probably an upbeat, celebratory thing, not an angry thing, but he can't really make that out.

>I think him eating meat has become more an act of trying to assert his own sense of self when if he'd just stopped eating meat he probably wouldn't have been kicked out.
I just realized that the whole episode is Remmy trying to distance himself from the stuff that got him fired, but he still goes to BB and gets a bug meat sandwich.

Is it bad that I kinda want a third possibility where the outside preds do start a lynch and rush the apartment and his room before any of the neighbors can react, corner him in a closet, and pretty much frighten him enough until an adrenalin overdose happens and he ends up turning into a cotton kinetic missile for however long it takes him to end up escaping his building. Almost like turning savage, except with a lot more flee than fight.

I mean, its shitty story telling but it is still a fun idea to entertain

Two Chekov's guns to remember:
1. Remmy has been given a whistle. It was even mentioned in this chapter. It's not going to go forgotten.
2. Remmy's headbutt. It was enough to knock the wind out of Avo THROUGH A PUNCHING BAG. She even mentioned it again later (in Sheepfacts, I think.)

We're gonna see both these things come back.

I wonder how shit's gonna go down with Remmy and the rest of them.

Like is Al basically telling everyone to sit the fuck down so he can go talk to Remmy to discuss shit with him and make sure he doesn't lose it or get hurt.

Then Al's gonna go up to Remmy's room and knock on his door and they're gonna talk it out?

Yeah, the headbutt thing was what the idea was based around. Bowling through who or whatever is unlucky enough to be between him and the next opening to escape, tumbling down the halls using the walls as brakes, before sending himself down the flight of stairs in a parabolic arc (along with whatever unlucky sod was at the top of the stairs) and still surviving well enough get to outside and some distance away before the adrenaline wears off and he crashes hard, most likely in the open and surrounded by preds

I'm actually hoping that wrestling wins, I figured Betty would be a fan since it's basically a soap opera with a bunch of half-naked mammals in peak fitness and the currently barely-begun Betty chapter of Pack Street: Winter Snuggles has her introducing Remmy to it.

Whoever you want, could follow the movie of zootopia except through the lens of the ZWF. Grand overarching and over the top story plots about predators going SAVAGE on their opponents in the ring! Or go with your own thing, maybe just have Judy and Nick or OCs as fans chatting about or even going to see a match.
