If Weaver writes it so that Remmy ends up with Betty, it fucks over Remmy x Charlie/Betty/Anneke/Ozzy/Pandora/etc. Obviously something not being canon hasn't stopped fanbases in the past, but at the same time a lot of what these pairings are built off of what happens in canon. Weaver leaves stuff open ended so that it gives everyone a chance to interpret what they think happens next, and leaves more room for fanfiction/fanart/speculation.
