4 was ok. The main conflict in 5 that was hyped and advertised heavily as fuck was resolved after 1 punch, you're introduced to new characters who receive no in-game characterization, stuff that could've been in game isn't because MUH COMICS, Cortana's now a villain, cliffhanger ending.

I really only hated him at the beginning simply because I thought he was going to be another "Jack Savage" type of character, aka just there for love triangle drama. Once it became apparent that wasn't the case, I didn't mind him; he was (what I thought) the physical representation of what happens when you try to date outside your species, which played well with Jill basically being the main voice of BB's prejudice.

Actually, if I remember correctly there was not a full hate of Max at the beginning.
He was the usual dark, scarred OC, however he seemed nicely done (in the first pages). He didn't take too much the spotlight from Nick and Judy, wasn't involved romantically with them, he had his own story.
After the first wave of hate because of his aspect and being the usual rabbit OC that Judy knows I remember various anons (myself included) saying something like "oh, I guess I was wrong, maybe he is a likable character after all".
