>>11979743I don't think anyone was thinking clearly after what happened to Pandora, least of all the neurotic Sheep.
>>11979736He thought estrus was a thing for preds. That's speciesist. Thinking "oh, that explains it. Sorry, can I just get by so I don't provoke anyone?" is well-intentioned speciesism. Most of that comes down to no malicious intent via lack of understanding. He's no Steve from Brickleberry, but still...
>>11979761No anon, it really was a lot about their cultureThe entire pack dynamic made for a lot of drama at the beginning, and they even acknowledged that they just assumed he would "get" it without ever explaining it to him
>>11979568Well, it was about 1 update per 2 weeks, and then he started slowing down to deal with Roommates. Since he doesn't have anything else to work on currently, I'd guess maybe 2 weeks between updated. Who knows though
>>11979784But the way he treats people should be based on basic respect instead of always thinking it's culture he doesn't get.

>>11980118Do we really need to answer that?
I should really go back and re-read it but I remember thinking it was strange that Remmy would flip flop so quick after he got fired. Like, if he had almost gotten mauled by Dora that would have been one thing, but being fired setting him back to square one as far as his opinions of his neighbors felt a little forced.
>>11980182That entire chapter was forced
>>11980182His parents/flock mindraped him good throughout his early years.
>>11980182Can you imagine the fact that if he had been lain off in the middle of work instead of his shift ending Dora totally would've killed him.
>>11980150
>>11979321I think Ozzy felt hurt but was trying to reconcile it with the fact that he consciously knew Remmy wasn't responsible. It's irrational and he knows it but he can't help feeling that way, anyway.Probably why he gets over it so quickly.

>>11980337Well maybe I'm a dense motherfucker and don't know it.
>>11980320Yes. He doesn't get it.But what he doesn't get is not "obscure, precise wolf customs that are inscrutable unless explained. It's not like he gets in trouble for performing a tea ceremony's intricate strictures in the wrong order. Sure, there are a few wolf customs he genuinely didn't understand at all (e.g. the dominance display), but even there the argument in fall back wasn't because he had bad info, it's because of what he did with that info.Wolt addresses this directly in Field Day, even:>Wolt snickers. "Honestly, man, I think you're probably makin' too big a thing of it in your head. Just showing respect goes so far with Al and the others, man. Like, so much of that 'pack dynamics' stuff is just ancient rotes and shit -- nobody touches that stuff anymore. It basically just boils down to like, play nice together, show some respect, and pitch in. And yeah, don't be a dumbass, of course."
>>11980335It may be a reference to it.>>11980354I really wonder which ones because I genuinely just made up everyones names on the fly, even Henriettas. The names are meaningless in this comic. All of them could be named Jeff and it'd be unchanged.
I want to point out that for all the shit Remmy's done wrong lately, he did also make a few really big steps forward, especially for him.Early on he says>In a lot of ways, I can relate. I don't really have "friends" either. I do have acquaintances, sure, I've got gym buddies -- but I don't have friends. Real friends. Friends to go see movies with, to go shopping with, whatever. Real friends hang out, they live their lives together. But then later,>My hooves find their way to my pockets. I pat my wallet. What's one more dip for friends? He admits Avo is right about him looking at things selfishly, and relents, which prevents a potential argument. And most importantly of all, there's a moment where he puts himself in an uncomfortable situation because he's worried about Ozzy. Actually worried about how Ozzy himself feels, not just worried about how Ozzy will treat him.>I can't live like this. And more than that, I don't want *him* to live like this.

It was never Remmy's choice to move in to an apartment full of mammals that, for anyone knew at the time, could have ripped him to shreds without even a moment's notice. He does not owe anyone an apology for simply trying to look out for himself.
>>11980396I'm hoping that's genuine kindness and concern he's feeling and not just a case of "oh shit i gotta make sure these guys like me in case someone does try going after me so i better keep playing nice." Maybe I'm just being too critical of him and just need to re-read it though.

>>11980650Don't.At least, not until you've brainstormed a million ways it could go.
Of the possibilities, which is more likely; Does Remmy avoid mentioning or thinking about his family due to what 'he' may have done or what 'they' might have done? After all this time, zero contact from his family, assuming he has one. Sheep reproduce like Rabbits so unless his circumstances are unique he should have quite a few brothers and sisters. It be odd if he lacked one entirely but its even more curious how long he's gone without a mention of anything of his life before Pack Street other than he thinks his current situation is worse.
>>11980631Well at least he's okayWouldn't want Don to worry!

>"It doesn't feel good, does it?"Does this line prove all the angstfic writers right that Charlie really was hurt by Remmy ditching on her and brooded about it? Most of what she was doing was perfectly practical if a bit cold but that was just some straight up malice.

>>11980695Perfect line for this specific moment. If she really did have malice towards him she wouldn't have given him her advice.
>>11980517If he plays his cards juuuust right, veeeerry carefully, his neighbours will find it in them to forgive him for being a sheep. This isn't a joke, this is the actual plot, Remmy might not be the perfect racial healing ambassador but he also hasn't done anything aside from being an individual member of a larger group that people want to vent on since they can't touch the majority. His best case scenario is his neighbours decide he does a good enough job of the apology dance that they'll generously treat him like a normal neighbour and also no random stranger on the street decides to lynch him to get out their anger at a majority they can't touch.
In all seriousness, I really don't give a shit about what anyone else thinks of Remmy.I just want to see him make it out okay.
>>11980674>After all this time, zero contact from his familyWell, one interpretation from the end of this comic is that someone from his family did has tried to contact him, but it's apparent that he doesn't wanna hear what they have to say. I feel like this could be Remmy feeling hurt over what they did to him but it could also be seen as Remmy not wanting to face what he did to them.
>>11980706It'll never be breached. Any direct confrontation about it would probably cause him to spaz and reset his relationships back to zero.Unless deus Oz machina, or the family starts trying to poke around in his current life. I'm sure they despise him, going from that one comic Weaver did.

>>11980742I don't think it's a binary. I think Charlie herself is fighting with her feelings a bit. She wants to blow him off at first and I think the malice of her line makes her reconsider a bit, sort of checks herself and decides to help him out a little rather than burn him completely. I think Charlie might be one of the harder ones to turn back because I don't think she's going to want to admit she has any ill feelings at all, that she's just acting rationally, so it's going to be hard to have a conversation about it.
>>11980789That would certainly be nice but it seems a bit early if that is the case.

>>11980969I can't decide if it's too predictable for Marty to go hard against Remmy and sheep now or not. It feels like SOMEBODY has to, the pack's not really mad enough with him, as it stands even Remmy should be able to mend some bridges unless someone proves to be a spanner in the works. I think most of the hostility is going to come from outside the pack but if the rest of the pack sticks together it'll be a little too straightforward. One turncoat.

>>11981006Could be, Weaver does like to subvert expectations. >>11980988>>11980997>>11981022Marty is a similar kind of paranoid to Remmy. He genuinely thought a bunch of old Sheep were up to no good because Remmy, the last person you should trust when it comes to knowing people, told him so. Jumps to conclusions and is very set in his ways.Being blindsided by something like this probably has him scared more than anything.
>>11981006Yeah it's still too soon to see how the rest of the city's going to react to sheep now. The pack members were dismissive of the idea that prey suffered at all or will suffer now that the hoax is revealed, and the people Remmy spoke to mostly suggested he's overreacting and just needs to not freak out or make a big deal of it - we have yet to see if they're going to be right or if there'll actually be some incidents that prove Remmy has reason to be afraid.

>>11981042He's not a turncoat, he's an external threat. There'll be people outside the pack for SURE that'll want Remmy's blood, even Betty suggested as such. The problem is if the rest of the pack warms back up to Remmy in short order then it's just the pack vs. outsiders and that's not too hard to deal with, he just has to follow Betty's advice and let her and Al deal with it. If the pack stays divided, then Remmy'll have to work harder on his own.

>>11981058Maybe, but since the conspiracy got rumbled, I think he'll be more likely to go running for Al and try to stir shit up. "Come on, we have to kick him out before he gets us! He probably did Dora! He could have more Nighthowler, he'll get us next! You're gonna get the whole building burned down when preds think we're sheep collaborators!"The question I think is whether being quashed by Al then talked to by Remmy will bring Marty around, or whether he'll just slink off to get Remmy taken care of some other way.

>>11981126I think Velvet could be very interesting, since it seems like so far Al's at least begrudgingly accepting Remmy so if she's okay with him too then there's not much work left for her to do. I think she'll go to an extreme, either she'll think it very important that Al not just accept it's his duty to protect Remmy but properly reconcile with him, or she'll want him out because she sees Al protecting him as macho bullshit that's putting himself and the rest of the pack in danger. She might think it should be easy for Remmy to go back and be amongst his own kind, or she might understand that sometimes you make decisions that make that hard. I really can't say.

>>11981370>>11981381i just figured the night they found out was a big party and probably it wasn't practical to travel, but first thing the next day charlie would want to go check up on her and find out if the hoax being busted meant there'd be a cure. it's also the sort of thing where technically she could delay doing it to talk to remmy if she wanted but she could decide to carry on with her business and ignore him if she felt he'd done the same to her.
>>11981419Why does she need to stop for him regardless? He arrived unannounced as if people need to have things set aside for him. They can talk later when she has the time.
>>11981417The pack members' reactions were kind of a mixed bag, but it was mostly a step back, and they're people who've already gotten used to Remmy and are giving him the benefit of the doubt that he's uninvolved (nobody even floated the idea). As soon as he starts going out and about I think he's going to run into real prejudice and raw feelings from people who don't know him or know him just well enough as "that sheep that lives on pack street". If he doesn't get any worse reactions than, say, what we saw from Anneke then that's pretty much a waste of the story's biggest dramatic twist, there has to be some threat and some people have to really turn on him or else it'll just be Remmy's Apology Tour 2.0.
>>11981414hmmmmmm cute
>>11981419That encounter revealed a bit more about Charlie than I think she meant to. She's not entirely based around logic and can be insulted by being brushed off. At first she just may have been avoiding him to "keep up appearances", but the line "it doesn't feel good, does it?" means she does feel...feel what, I'm not sure yet.
>>11980480Re-read a Weaver for better understanding, good luck with that anon!
>>11981460I think you're thinking too hard. It hurt her and she realized her position put him in the same predicament from his side and gave him a quick reminder and carried on.
>>11981487Maybe, but when was the last time we saw Charlie exhibit anything close to an emotional response?
>>11981496When she was crying on his couch.
>>11981439She doesn't HAVE to, nobody HAS to make time for anyone else. It's just a matter of reciprocating - if they were close friends and Charlie had something she could put off until the afternoon and she saw he was distressed, most people would make some time. Choosing not to do this and drawing his attention to it is a deliberate signal that they're not that close.Part of what made "It doesn't feel good, does it?" effective is the underlying suggestion that she COULD choose to make the time, but won't - implying she thought he did the same to her. If she truly couldn't make the time because it was a can't-miss appointment then I doubt she'd twist the knife on her way out.

Remmy is an acquired taste
>>11981487Eh, I think the fact that she immediately reconsidered and reassured him a bit rather than signing off then and there suggests she's a little torn on the matter. She's probably extremely relieved to discover it was all a hoax and seeing Remmy rain on her parade worrying about himself again probably just confirmed any negative feelings she had over their last encounter. A part of her wants to rub his nose in it a bit and a part of her wants to rise above that sort of thing, but since she's not good at expressing her feelings it comes off as this awkward and "totally rational" response.

>>11981454I wanna know if any of the pack members who were like "stop being selfish you'll be fine" will change their tune once Remmy inevitably gets death threats or assaulted. Telling him he's overreacting and cramping their good news with his worries seems unfair if there are actual large predators out for his blood. It also seems weirdly unfair that people are holding him accountable for being scared of preds during the savage hoax now that it's revealed that the whole point of the savage hoax was a deliberate, engineered attempt to make prey scared of preds.

An unkindness repaid with an unkindness might make them even in her mind.Charlie might be quite transactional, but I think she's less calculating than she lets on or even believes herself. I don't think she'll just think "now we're even" and go back to inviting him on capers or stealing his breakfast cereal, I think this is going to be a sustained chill in their interactions until something external comes along to change that.

>>11980761>he also hasn't done anythingI can't believe people are unironically saying Remmy did nothing wrong.
>>11981582I'm kind of expecting based on Weaver's writing until now that Remmy'll fuck up somehow and get into danger/trouble in such a way that it'll be his fault and Betty and Al will chew him out for being a burden and he'll have to make it up to them again, but I'd actually like the reversal if the pack realized he actually is in some danger and for once Remmy wasn't just making everything about himself again.
>>11981638Remember when he shot Dora with the Night Howler juice?
>>11981638Depends on your definition of "did something wrong," I guess. Did he optimize his social relations and lifestyle to fully integrate into the community as an empathic figure of racial harmony? No. Bit of a missed opportunity there. Did he actively commit some kind of crime or infringement that necessitates the involvement of his neighbours in his life? Also no. Certainly when someone on the street inevitably takes a shot at him, it won't be because of one of his social faux pas from the last year, it'll be because he's a sheep, and people will probably blame Remmy for mistakes like "being outside".
>>11981509Wow, Judy must be tough to do over her fox and not get anything in return!Thought she would at least sit on his face.
Keep in mind: Remmy's been terrified of everyone around him ever since he's moved there.Holding such extreme fear for as long as he has makes a mammal do things they sorely regret. He needs to heal just as bad as the rest of the Pack.

>>11981695That's...amazing!
I think the most confusing thing about Remmy and Pack Street is it's not like him and his neighbours HAVE to socialize. I live in an apartment building and have for years, and I've never spoken to any of my neighbours. I've seen them in the hall every so often and I get by fine with a nod. The first chapter, it's Al who makes a big deal about how by living in the same apartment building as him Remmy is obligated to participate in pack social customs, which fucking nobody in real life would put up with. He's a selfish, vaguely racist and insensitive oaf who has no business socializing with these people he doesn't like and who don't like him but if they left him alone in the first place none of this would be happening. They invited themselves into his life, not vice versa.
Remmys mistake was being written by WeaverIf he had a cooler writer, I bet he would've been cooler too

The fact that anyone can look at Remmy's neighbors like, for instance, Anneke, and think "she's just mad because she's racist" is proof to me that this thread's got the reading comprehension of a wet tree stump.

How he chose to react to it is the problem. He could have showed solidarity, attempted empathy, reached understanding, made inroads, reached out, and listened. But he didn't. Even when he saw firsthand just what this crisis meant to the people around him. Every step of the way, he made it about him.
>>11981922I also have a sword
>>11981799At least "Spicy Nick" was actually zoot related. All of this is just discussing a fanfic that just happens to occur in Zootopia and not even any of the movie character actually makes a significant appearance. The only zootopia related thing about pack street is the setting

>>11981928Talking about what? How Remmy is or isn't to be blame for anything or everything? It would actually make sense if people actually bring out new topics of the chapter but its being the same discussion ever since the new chapter came out.
>>11981985Then why can't he stop munching on carpets?
>>11981930And again, that was the intention of the conspiracy? They wouldn't have done it if they thought that was going to cause an outbreak of empathy and solidarity, they did it to make people afraid for their lives by making them afraid of their neighbour. They're doing the conspirators' jobs for them by focusing their reaction on how prey failed to bridge the divide, as though predators as a group are so much more noble that if the reverse were happening they'd have embraced prey wholeheartedly. Charlie made the point that this is really about the working mother who doesn't have to worry she'll wake up and murder her child, and it's also about the working mother who doesn't have to worry someone else will wake up and murder her child either. Acting like this is the fault of anyone apart from the cabal deliberately trying to create this environment using peoples' known weaknesses just guarantees there'll be retaliation and new people exploiting those weaknesses down the line, since they're self-reinforcing.
To determine if Remmy did everything or nothing wrong I think we should make clear another point:Did anyone in the pack do something wrong?
>>11981945Exactly.I had enough of the stupid meme "we need to be Zootopia and PS general".If a major fic, with setting in Zootopia, that an enormous part of the thread likes, updates after a long hiatus it is obvious that people are still talking about that 24 hours after

>>11982177Yeah Remmy's not in much of a position to defend himself since they won't leave him alone and also outnumber him and see him as an unwelcome intruder who has to earn acceptance, sort of puts a dampener on his arguments. The preds are basically just putting him through a micro version of what they feel prey do to them on a macro scale as a way to work out their frustration with being a minority, since they see him as essentially helpless. The strength of his arguments are irrelevant to them and he knows it.

>>11982275But he's right. Right now, Remmy objectively should be grateful to Al for still protecting him and not throwing him to the wolves, literally and metaphorically.
>>11982269>Pack Street>the equivalent of a white neighborhood
>>11981746To add onto that, what's the deal with the nameless wolf then? If Al is so big into respecting his territory because he's the alpha, why have we not seen this wolf in relation to the pack dynamics? He's not part of the pack, we've never seen him meet with other pack members, he wasn't present during the little wolf dominance display. Does Al just turn a blind eye to this other wolf in his turf, but gets bent out of shape regarding the new sheep?
>>11982275>Always belittling Remmy, acting like being part of a custom specific to a certain subclass of pred races is such a privilege, like the ram should always be grateful for what he does.I think this is what I'm looking forward to the least. Sooner or later Remmy's going to do something Al will see as a misstep and chew Remmy a new asshole over how they're all bending over backward to accommodate him and he should be grateful because without them he'd be mincemeat (while at the same time the rest of the pack keep saying he's overreacting and making everything about him and kind of bringing the mood down).
>>11982303It's easier for him to make an example of yelling at a black person
>>11982291No, I didn't, I used it rhetorically as an example of racially charged rhetoric, because pedantic precision was unnecessary to make my larger point of Remmy being in a racially hostile environment for people who are capable of basic debate. In other words, don't worry, I wasn't talking to you.
>>11982275>Always belittling RemmyAlso plenty of times he was nice to him but I guess only Remmy's positive actions are remembered here.
>>11982303>>11982317Hey man, if flipping the roles and making it a black person yelling "Yeah run!" at a white person suddenly makes the situation okay then I guess we don't have much left to discuss and hey maybe also try watching that hit Disney movie Zootopia if you need that basic an introduction to race relations.

>>11982329The question was whether other pack members have admitted to fault or error where Remmy has to constantly apologize and swallow his own reservations or resentments in the name of making peace, not whether they've been good to each other while times are good. The closest I can remember is Al buying Remmy a new bag after having destroyed the old one as part of a threat of physical violence, which... you know, is kind of a wash.
>>11982363>The question was whether other pack members have admitted to fault or errorYeah hi: >>11982085
>>11982314I remember some side mentions of a former pack member who got kicked out for taking some liberties, I think it could be this other wolf who still lives in the building but actively avoids everyone else - it's not like Al has the power to evict anyone and another wolf might be strong enough that he can't actually intimidate him to leave, but he might choose to just stay and make himself scarce.
>>11982348Eh. Remmy did the work on that one. It was easy for Al to admit he got angry too once Remmy fully submitted to his authority. I mean it's still better than declaring "finally, the respect I deserve!" or refusing to accept his apology but I'd say it still put the onus hard on Remmy considering if Al had ignored Remmy in the first place they'd have never had any problems with each other. Also destroying his bag in what was an obvious threat of physical violence is actually really fucked up and buying him a new bag doesn't really make it okay. The message is still "if you ever get on by bad side I am fully capable and perhaps willing to tear you to pieces, and you cannot threaten me in return," which tends to color a relationship.
