What's with Nick and gay?
So just looked up out of curiosity to see if there was a "supacomi" store in my area, but it turns out that it's actually a one-day only Comicon-esque convention in Tokyo. Since we live in Kyushu and a trip that far would cost roughly a thousand bucks I'm gonna need to wait for a scan to pop up before I'll have any chance to translate. Not gonna lie, might ask one of the artists if a collab with us might be possible just so I can get a hold of that stuff. Who knows, they might want to make an English print if there's enough interest.
>>11605518>tfw all mentions of predplay are now "isn't that what weaver did"i miss march-august 2016
>>11605518 I think Late Stake is a great iteration of Zootopian porn because it uses the right angles that the original material provides. pred/prey play involving fear/scent stuff is are fit well into the universe and Nick's and Judy's releationship. That however is not a reason to see every comic that uses them as a copy of Late Stake. That's like saying that ALL Nick x Judy comics are copies of other Nick x Judy comics.
>>11605518No, it's different. Yes, there is predplay, but it is present in many other comics, like Iji's one.In TLS we have a nervous Judy because she haven't had an experience with Nick yet and much more scentplay, here's we have a Judy that seems much more comfortable in sexual situations with Nick.
>>11605604hey TB, I talked with a pal of mine and they think that the nose should be drawn like this (pic)maybe I should send it to that artist along with something like "Excuse me, I really like your arts, but in my opinion, the way your draw Judy's nose could use some tweaking. I have sent a picture of how I think you should draw it along with this text, I hope it is helpful for your future works!"

>>11605682Ehhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm not entirely sure that it'd be the best idea to send them criticism as one of the first contacts from their international audience. If it doesn't outright offend them, odds are it's going to make them feel really insecure and possibly make them stop altogether.

>>11605847
>>11605725>>11605802Oh sweet, we got another Japanese speaker here, but your first language is Japanese? Rad! I'm the opposite; I'm a native English speaker living in Japan! Here are some small critiques to help your English out when translating:>ニック、ダメ。仕事中よ>Nick, Stop. I'm at work now.A slightly better translation might be something like "Nick, stop. We're on shift." It flows a little better, and you can tell based on the fact that Nick's in uniform that they're both currently working, and the sentence doesn't directly say she's only referring to herself.>よし。休憩だにんじん>Fine. Let's take a rest, carrots."Let's take a rest" is a little clunky in English, and you really want to capture how blunt/quick-to-the-point Nick's being by using only one word. Maybe something like "Fine. We're on break then, Carrots.">ニックー>Nick! She's not really exclaiming here, she's more extending the word as a complaint, so "Niiiiiick" would probably fit better here>仮眠室<->NAP ROOM<-"Workplace Bunk" is probably a better English equivalent, but "Nap Room" is the literal translation so really either works>仕事しすぎは良くないぜ?>Working too much is bad for your health. You really want to capture the smug Nick is emitting in this sentence, so "Don't you know working too much is bad for your health?" is probably better, since it also ends it in a question like the original version does.>>11605809Currently living on Kyushu island, wife is teaching English at a local highschool while I freelance translate/finish up some online courses. Speaking of which, I now do commissioned, full-length translations, but I'm not gonna re-shill that unless someone asks again in the thread for me to.
>>11605791I think what he is saying is the following: imagine that you are an artist and you see someone from the other side of the world trying to contact you. They say they are a big fan of your work (and you will be delighted), but immediately after they say something like "but hey, I don't like how you draw [thing], you should do exactly how I tell you to do!" I think you would be a little pissed off, right? Constructive criticism works only if it is done by people you already know (like here) and/or if you actually request it. Having a random person that you haven't known before tell you what to do, well, that's not so well accepted.
Let us appreciate the poetry of this imageHere, we have a young buck of healthy age struggling with his unexpected desires. He finds himself lusting after his own sex, and as he does he finds questions about his self that he cannot answer. These thoughts, and others like them, interrupt his thoughts and pervade his dreams, preventing him from restful sleep. He is overcome with self-doubt and depression as he ponders his life, reaching moments of quiet existentialism for which he is not nearly mentally and emotionally prepared. Seeking sage advice, he confides in his most trusted friend, despite this same friend being the object of his desires. The fox replies with a paradoxical and downright rude comment, insulting the rabbit's feelings while still expressing shared desires. While at first this may seem nonsensical, if one begins to ponder and question his meaning then all becomes clear. The fox cares for his friend, and cherishes their time together dearly. He, like his partner, stays up at night with sinful and homosexual thoughts about making love to another man. Despite this, the fox is chiding his rabbit for letting these thoughts envelop him and fill him with worry. The nature of his offensive words is to merely shock his friend into seeing the sense in the vulpine's wisdom; he wishes to nullify the buck's strife, not enhance it. In this, the two achieve a sort of enlightenment in each other's company, the duality of mammalkind and its struggle in the universe represented in two lines.also shiet nigga they cute as fvck
>>11605888Yeah, this is a more concise way of saying what I meant. It's not even really an English/Japanese difference, it's that constructive criticism does NOT a good ice-breaker make

>>11606257>To me translating is like solving a puzzleThat's a really interesting way of thinking about it, thanks! I think that alone will help. I'd love to translate art and comics as well, especially for the thread, but sadly the language I'm learning doesn't have much content in it. Also, just for the hell of it: Do you know any other languages? Planning to learn any more? I'm just curious at this point
>>11606341It's unfortunate that the discord/thread interaction has been a negative for both places.
>>11606304care to elaborate? I hung around on reddit in the early days and came here about a year ago. Those early days consisted of discussing plot points, background details, why did x do y, type of stuff and I'm curios if it was any different here

>>11606368these days there's a notable push and pull between two sides who in their most extreme forms "CCs can do no wrong" and "CCs can fuck off if i don't like them."it's a very late-stage-FNaF environment that (aside from bashing weaver) i don't recall from earlier days. it leads to discussions like sunday as to whether an absolute anon has merit to their opinion.>>11606388this isn't wholly correct, but thread content wasn't really my point.>>11606366there's certainly positivity to the idea. hell, I supported the idea early on, but overall I think it's made CCs have too much of a face where it's not necessarily needed.>>11606412nightvale is great. i've written a few things on inspiration from it. i want to make a DnD campaign based on it some time.

>>11606435>Thus I went on an expedition into one of the worst place on the webIt is definitely a shock to the system when you first open the /trash/ catalog to look for the latest thread, but one I found out you can bookmark a search for it, that problem was solved.
>>11606289The rabbit island is definitely on the list, only recently heard of the fox village, so will look at that as well.Other than that I'm looking to visit the Subaru museum.
>>11606442>i've written a few things on inspiration from it. i want to make a DnD campaign based on it some time.Look into Delta Green (for playing agents stuck in the middle of Vague, Yet Menacing Government Bureaucracy), Nobilis (if you want to play someone writing arrows and lines in the sky), and Monster of the Week (if you'd like to solve whatever problem the town is facing that day).
This is a rabbit
>>11606442>I think it's made CCs have too much of a face where it's not necessarily needed.Having a face is AOK with with me (and probably most people), the issue is when CC's egos get inflated, that doesn't sit well with some people here.
>>11606490prove it
>>11606422Good point.I'm sorry to say that I can probably recite the entire script of Zootopia, so watching in Japanese could be informative.
>>11606422>>11606201I'd honestly recommend watching Zootopia in other languages just because the newscaster is different depending on the region. For instance, if you want to watch it in Japanese the newscaster is a Tanuki, and in Chinese it's a panda.Fun fact for Japan-anon: the newscaster in the American version is a moose (Peter Moosebridge), and the voice actor who plays him is a famous Canadian newscaster in real life (Peter Mansbridge), which makes the fact that he's a moose even funnier

>>11606550You mean "reformed"
>>11606442Anon, I've been here since almost the beginning and I assure you that some things like those appeared before. Also the two extremes that you have mentioned are many times (not always, but a lot of times) based on shitposting. And I say this not to blame everything on a "obscure bad side", but because it is based on a difference that doesn't exists. CCs are anons, and anons can be CCs as much as they want. It's not one or the other, it's like saying water and fluids are two different things. But all of water is fluid and a fluid can be water. Trying to make sides/factions where there are nihil is the easiest way to spark stupid discussions. Also you say late-stage-FnaF, but even in the worst moment we are not even close to that place. There, from what I know, they actively hunted (by doxing) every person that created something. We're nowhere (and I hope we will never be) close to that.>>11606490Indeed it seems like that>>11606531If I remember correctly the one with Mansbridge was intentional

>>11606571you're probably right that FNaF is far worse than where we're at, and i do agree with the hope we don't get to that point. my point with that, which i should have clarified but i was typing while walking to class, was that it's a similar attitude. whether an "us vs them" attitude is valid, it exists regardless. there are definitely people who feel anons don't deserve a say without a name. valid opinions were, and often are, brushed aside with "fuck off hateanon" and an accusation of shitposting.some of those people were certainly arguing in bad faith. that much was obvious. but the whole discussion shut down due to that level of dismissiveness that was an effect of this thread's tendency to idolize CCs in a novel way from older days.asking somebody to put name to their opinions leads to the dangerous attitude we witnessed yesterday where people are clearly attacked for unrelated actions, rather than engaging with the opinions they brought forth. that entire shitshow with paste and jesse yesterday is pretty solid proof.

>>11606719You know, as I wrote that reply I thought I'd go in the catalogue and do a quick screen cap, just to add to the post.I saw that (lady Logs) and thought; No, the anons here really don't want to look at that (I hope), I mean, I looked at the cheesegrater once. That was enough.
>>11606629>Unfortunately I haven't any nice women yet.頑張れ!But for real though, if I, an anon who spends all of his free time either playing video games or translating furry fanart of a Disney film, can find love and get happily married, anyone can.
Also remember to bully badgers because they're stupid too haha stupid badger, what are you going to do about it
>>11606748There are a few alright threads if you fall under whatever niche they're part of. I like the scaly threads a lot, they're pretty comfy.
>>11606719Seeing that really woke me up, in the worst kind of way.
>>11606654My point was this, anon, that there is no "us" and no "them". Look at our conversation. You can't say if I'm a lurker or a CC. Because I am both. Or only one of them. Point is, it's not important. Also yesterday a lot of the dismissiveness was caused mainly by shitposters. How can I say this? The fact that they talked in absolutes and they read wrongly every single post, by making it more aggressive than it was and twisting the original meaning of the phrases. Then they switched sides and continued. It is very difficult to see this in the middle of the thread. But looking at the archives it becomes much easier to see. Then, after the fire was fueled, it was just a matter of watching everything burn: you can see that much of the later dismissiveness is as a reply to overly aggressive posts, that talk in absolutes (meaning that they don't search for a meaningful discussion). How can we avoid this? By replying to someone that is willing to hear the other side of the coin. Look at us: we are having a perfectly civil and normal discussion.Luckily that hostile behaviour that search to spark fires is nothing new so it is easier now, at least for me, to identify. But we have a lot of new anons it seems (luckily, it means that the place is still alive and thriving) and anons that have bad days, so some days like yesterday happen. What one should do is leave it behind, but learn from it, not forgetting.>>11606755Wynn don't bully badgers pls
>>11606774One of these days I'm tempted to look at the room-mates thread, just to see what Weaver or his followers are doing. But by the same token, I'm stuck here too much now, if I added another thread to follow, I think I'd probably lose it.

>>11606774tf2g is weird but endearing. It's like watching a sitcom and I read the thread whenever I cross it.The Freya threads are nice too. A lot of lore talk and pretty rat people
>>11606790the fact that such a thing welled up though, to get back to the original point of this whole thread, makes me believe we can't get back to the march-august 2016 era. just because we have one conversation that's wholly civil and isn't reliant on who you are within the thread, doesn't mean we can escape the fact that a lot of emphasis is placed on who you are now.i really do appreciate your civility, and i think your points have a lot of merit. the thread isn't dying, and in fact it's in a pretty good spot. i just don't think it'll get back to those early days, but i think maybe much of that is due to nostalgia. who knows? it just feels like the dynamic has changed.>>11606806i'm in the middle of Crystal Kingdom and it's so damn good, though they spent way too much time on that fucking robot.

>>11606876>theres one nowI'm pointing out the irony of people acting offended by scat while supporting cubshit. Wanna judge others, look at your fucking thread first.
>>11606822Indeed it is different, anon. But is not always a bad thing. And, yes, nostalgia can be pretty powerful and brutal in distorting our views. I remember good and bad things. I remember art tennis and the house party problems (another example that the "us vs them" extreme views are nothing new), I remember when new CCs appeared and the deserted threads during the finals (really, I was very worried that /ztg/ was dying). One more easily remembers the good things instead of the bad ones, but they should remember both for their own good. The future is big and I can't wait for it: what theme will win the next TT? What new CC we will get? What will be the next big work that we will see?It has been a pleasure talking with you, anon.>>11606876The most important thing is simply talking of something else, not give attention, anon. >>11606901I wasn't aware the threads were a monolithic entity
>>11606962Oooh, interesting! If you want to avoid nitpicking: remember that this is Zootopia, so some difference with our world is well accepted. For example, miniaturization of technology should be a little easier, and big projects would need less machine power (why use an engine when you can have an elephant?)>>11606969>I need motivation to start it up again.See it like this: you wanted /tg/topia so much, so you should realize what you want in the once in a lifetime possibility that it wins. Also look at other creating and suggesting ideas, it helps giving the charge
>>11606995I meant to say "couldn't tell you what's left from right"tf2g is weird. My first assumption was that it stood for "Team Fortress 2 general" which is a video game. But after lurking in their threads for a while the game rarely gets mentioned, if at all, during a thread's life span.Reading how they interact is fascinating and I often enjoy reading the stuff that goes on there, even if none of it makes sense to me.
What's your Zoosona, anon? Tell me about them.-What do they do?-What's their favorite thing in the world?-What do they hate above all else?-What's their personality in one sentence?-How would they speak? Are they refined? Fox exampe in the furry community-Male foxes are frequently gay or bi, overly sexualized and submissiveThat's why there are so many "gay Nick" comics.

>>11607381certainly!i found it lacking because it didn't feel terribly much like there was a character, or really a driving force to the story. it was a Q&A session with barely a single layer of abstraction from you as the author versus the character. bunanon and Tundralion found a lot of their success, if it can be called that, by having the character be independent, doing its own thing. you didn't present us with anything unique or interesting, you simply left it open to questions, and the questions that followed were insubstantial and boring.so it's not wholly your fault, but finding some way to present us with the unique problem Terry(?) might face as a resident of zootopia might make it more compelling.

It appears that apathyHas gotten the best of meCause I'm so tired of you talking my ear offAbout all your problems I just can't fixI don't appreciate this unwanted companyAnd your constant chatterReminds me why I'd rather you leave me be So call me anti-social, call it masturbationEither way it's a solo operationI'm just far more comfortable aloneCause people are ugly and people are hatefulDestructive and greedyWe're proud and ungratefulThe world would be so much better off without usSo swallow a bulletOr a handful of pillsWe're all compost in trainingAnd there's graves left to fillDistract ourselves to make us feel like we're not just mistakesDistract ourselves to make us feel like we're not just mistakes
