Just got around watching Zootopia, pretty good. What did /co/ think of it?
>>87898171Judy was hot and had great reaction faces
it was shit
>>87898781>Not "cream the rabbit"
Furry bait.
Generic, predictable, followed every formula Disney ever has. A waste of a movie. Althought better than the disgrace big hero six and frozen were.
>>87898171Bellwether did nothing wrong.
>>87898828Go to bed, Gidget.
2/10 no Finnick in a dress
>>87898171Actually got away with a Breaking Bad joke, that's always a plus
A well made and surprisingly well written film. It's rare to find a kids' movie that actually features racism as a plot point instead of just soapboxing. Also, the furry community has had a field day with it, which is always amusing to watch.Shame the music is so lackluster, but oh well.
Remember me?
It was pretty cute, would have been better if they change the villain.
>>87898927>Also, the furry community has had a field day with it, which is always amusing to watch.Well, hey, they'll always do that, so, oh well.As for me, long as she cute, it don't matterNone of this matters
>>87898965Weren't you that asshole no one cared about?
>>87898927>Also, the furry community has had a field day with it, which is always amusing to watch.
>>87898171I for one loved it and the bun!
>>87899458I cared.I cared just enough to hate him.
>>87899741Don't speak bad about me!
>>87898927>>87899542

>>87899824This is the EQG Copypasta only replacing all mention of Bronies with Furries.Get that weak stuff outta here.
>>87898171there were literally 1000 or so threads about it
preachy, the whole "don't judge book by the cover" been done to death.
Definitely good, but I don't think its "the best Disney movie since Lion King".
>>87898927Russian furries attended the premiere in their edgy fursuits.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hs_Ql8vnzEE
>>87900947>>87898927yeah, they blew it when they picked the music, especially Shakira.guess it was too late to change the composer.
>>87898171That part his hilarious. That Fox's face..
>>87898171Was pretty neat. Love the character designs, expressions and creative location ideas.Hope theres a sequel so I can get another artbook. From Maryland so I didn't run into any furries at the theater the two times Ive seen it.
>>87901178Hey, another Marylander! Although technically I go to Delaware for movies...
>>87901192Brandywine for me.
>>87901178>Hope theres a sequel so I can get another artbook.uhh, about that..
I liked how "cute" was the rabbits' version of "nigger"
>>87901389I guess you mean "nigga", nigga
It was a good movie but it spawned an incredibly cringey fanbase.
>>87901958But furries have been around a long time now
>>87898171its weird how little merch of this there. Did Disney not expect it to be a huge hit? Did the creators not want to make another marketing monster like frozen because it would pervert their art?
did they ever answer why there were no zoos and lizards in zootopia?
Im consumed
>>87902665>Did Disney not expect it to be a huge hit?Essentially.
It gave me a bunch of things I didn't ask for
>>87902687racism
I had a choice between Zootopia and Norm of the North, I chose the latter. Did I fuck up?
>>87902665this movie got as much merchandise as Moana, however it's inaccurate because of that weird story with the rewrite, the movie probably costed twice as much to make that the chart says.Movie did well at the B.O. only because furries saw it 10 times, that money didn't go to Disney but to cinemas, if the merch sold well we'd probably see new toys by now.I'm sorry.
>>87898171there are threads on /trash/ since the movie came outthat says everithing
>>87903198holy weekend
>>87898171It had no business being as good as it was. However, it did feel rushed in parts and was rough around the edges. Thoroughly enjoyed it, though.
>>87904811I always bring family movies to Thanksgiving
>>87902687Zootopia is a city in a mammalian nation-state.Other branches of animal live in their own countries. My headcanon (inb4 autistic) is that bats are like Hawaiians and live off in some archipelago near the bird nation.
>>87903274>if the merch sold well we'd probably see new toys by nowPrecisely. Disney isn't stupid. They want to make money. Even if they don't expect something will be a success, once they realize it will generate profits, they will do everything to make money from it. If its a Disney product, then it probably was successful. That's why we have Frozen Rock Salt
>>87905118If it made all that money and no one is buying the merchandise, does that prove the furries saw it 10x theory? How do you profit off of the bunny besides making a sequel?
I really liked it, but for some reason I dont want to watch it again.
>>87903274Zootopia merch on the Disney store website is a single page. Most stuff is for inifinty making it useless. Frozen has three pages with each page maxed out for the total number of items it can displayA lot of people would probably buy a Nick Wilde T-shirt. The crew even made their own T-shirts. Why can't you buy them?
>>87898171when will we get the Dark Ride? This might be one of the few examples where we can make our waifu real through audio-animatronics!
>>87903274The real problem with iir society are people like you, people who only have a general idea how things work and then oull the rest out of their ass and act like it was true. The movie certainly did cost more, but nowhere near twice as much. The previous version was not even halfway done and they made the new one on time before release deadline.Cinemas get relatively little of ticket money and earn their living on popcorn and drinks. There are professional sites like Forbes that wrote very informate articles about it, Google that. Short version: when it comes to blockbusters, what the studio actually earns usually oscilates around 50% of global earnings and 70% of US BO.Moana has Lego sets. Fucking Lego. Zootopia really surprised them with that billion. The only reason there was no more merch was Finding Dory. They missed their chance at launch and then did not want to compete with their own 100% certain cash cow. It's business 101.Zootopia still brought in about 500 million for Disney and about half of that is profit. The worst case scenario (costly re-do's) is they are STILL 200 million ahead. That's insanely good for a production disaster this movie almost was.Oh, and no biggie, but this the third film in recent Hollywood history to break a billion without being a sequel or an adaptation of a popular story (book or fairy tale). The only other ones? Cameron's Avatar and Titanic.
>>87905559ok
Watching it ten times in theatres was fun.
>>87905559it's too late to cash in on that movie, though, they blew it the moment they picked Shakira to sing. I remember when fanbase called it "the next lion king" , if anything this is "preachy robin hood".Music sold Disney movies in the 90s , and the people think revival era started with Tangled forgetting there was that Bolt movie before. Why? Musical of course.>>87905169Well, I saw it 5 times just for visuals alone. It was really nice experience. I'm a sucker for talking animals in movies, they're cuddly.
>it's moana versus zootopia threadYou do realize that those movies was made by almost same people and same company?
/pol/ ruined Jewish entertainment for me.The original concept with the collars was about not being white and living in a western civilization without privilege. You can even watch the making of zootopia and near the end have a gay white dude say how privileged he is and an asian woman say how hard it is not being white and that she teacher her son about white privilege.
>>87906015>you can't compare how they treat monkeys and lions differently>why?>because they're both in a zoo so it doesn't matter how, DUHlol retard
>>87906043All those disney movies talk is always about how much money they made, because usually they are so dull that there is nothing to talk about, besides money.
>>87898927They gutted a lot of content and soundtrack was part of it, although I think the music we had was alright in conveying emotions; stuff like this https://youtu.be/G2_U19d3z-Y?list=PLeGWJIkLfHeXTzDIedILwJuZMsewu7dcl was wasted in the credits of favor of Shakira

it was great but the part with the toucans creeped me the fuck out
>>87907723It's not Shakira, it's rather the song, Let it Go sold Frozen, Everything is Awesome(selfsatire of catchy songs) sold the Lego movie. Its just not catchy enough
>>87905826I think I got you beat.Anyone have a pic of those ticket stubs some guy posted on his facebook at the end of March. He was seeing it once & sometimes twice a day.
>>87906223anyone got a mega download link for the soundtrack?
>>87899542I wonder what exactly counted as dressing as your favorite animal. On the scale of "T shirt that's an animal's fur pattern" to "Full fursuit" what's the least amount of work I would have had to do for that?
Best Disney movie since the Renaissance era. >b-b-but furries!I do not care about furries as it is not currently 2004.
>>87901958I don't know about that. Only time I've seen people talk about it, aside from people like OP that watch it for the first time late, was the first couple weeks after it was released.Meanwhile people still go on about fucking Frozen where I live. Like what the hell?
>>87898171Whatever. 6/10. Though I should lower it for the forced and annoying propaganda.
>>87898821Never saw big hero 6. I thought it would have been a tier above Zootopia though. You sure about this? Frozen was definitely worse though.
>>87898171Loved it!And b4 that "just a reminder" guy posts this, i'm looking to collect one of these if anyone sees one:
>>87908290if it felt forced, you were looking for the propaganda, sweetheart.
>>87903274>>87905118I hear people, I mean offline like at work and shit, bitching about every Cars and Planes movie and wondering why they keep on making them yet they turn around and keep on buying Cars toys for their kids and in some cases grandkids.>>87905169>too far into make a movie to back out Disney starts to expect it to not be a hit so makes little to no merch>no merch is sold because it's just not there>when people ask about why there isn't a sequel Disney can just point to merch sales and blame consumers for not buying enough.Though sometimes Disney is taken by surprise by a film being a hit. Back in the 90s they thought Pocahontas was going to be the big hit everyone was going to talk about for years to come and The Lion King was going to be the whatever movie people would forget but it'd make them enough cash to keep going and make Pocahontas and whatever other projects that wasn't announced at the time. Look how that shit turned out, they're still shitting out Lion King merch.
>>87908359That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
>>87908299Not that guy but if Zootopia is predictable then BH6 actually gives you real precognition. Every single moment can be predicted before it happens. It's best to turn off your brain for that movie and entertain yourself with the action if you want to enjoy it (and I'm usually not the kind of person who says that).
>>87907723I still have no idea who Shakira is.
>>87908397Then you have a comprehension problem. I can't help you.
>>87908429>Every single moment can be predicted before it happens.Well I already have that problem with most media so that doesn't bother me. I've gotten too good at getting into the mind of the author.
>>87908455You're actually retarded.
>>87908462No, no, I get you. It happens a lot to people like us who enjoy all sorts of fiction. But BH6 is REALLY bad on that aspect. Also, their ears are very under-detailed for some reason. Guess it's supposed to be "cartoony" but it doesn't work and it's hard to not be bothered by it.
>>87898171Incredible how even evil bellwether is adorable!
>>87908290It wasn't propaganda, "herbivores vs carnivores" is a very common thing in stuff like this and it only looks like that in the current political climate.>>87908359It really doesn't make sense.
>>87900947I don't think the Lion King is that good. I didn't even like it as a kid. I do like the sequel, though.
>>87908513Okay I understand. I might just read the synopsis and see a few scenes then. Thanks, buddy.
>>87908616It's still watchable, just don't expect to be amazed. It's sort of a good action movie, at least.

>>87906242I still havn't figured what WillFanofMany's connection is to this movie and how he got this footage. Was he an animator on the film? These legit releases or smuggled footage? Whatever, I appreciate it all as it gives a wonderful insight into the evolution of the production of the film.
>>87909543Hard to say. I may have been overwhelmed at the intense amount of details and world building.

>tfw humans are predators >Zootopia's original scriptWould you want to live in the original Zootopia as a human, knowing you'll have to wear the tame collars?
>>87922559Not really. Being a human in the Zootopia universe would suck innately because humanity's premiere exceptional quality in our universe is that we're capable of higher thought. But that's pretty common in Zootopiverse; we'd be the butt monkeys of society. Inability to exhibit emotion would be the icing on the suck cake
I was pleasantly surprised with how flawed the main character was for a children's move. And the whole podium scene made me sad. But I'm a a bitch when it comes to those kind of scenes.
>>87923013>we'd be the butt monkeys of society.Literally. Without natural defenses like claws or impressive strength to defend themselves humans would probably be stuck doing menial labor and working as sex slaves.

>>87923146Me too. It was very smart how they handled prejudice for the most part and how we got to see a protagonist who claims to be above letting fear dictate her actions acting out of fear.My problem with the scene was that we saw why Nick was so triggered when it wasn't too long ago that we saw the muzzle scene. We didn't need to be reminded by a flashback. What we did need reminding of was Judy's fight with Gideon. Nick triggered her too, but we should be smart enough to know that that doesn't excuse her. We all saw how she grabbed the fox spray at the beginning, so we know that this fear isn't random, but a flashback to Gideon would let us know that her fear wasn't something in her bunny instincts. They probably did it the way they did it do that there'd be no mistake that Nick wasn't just being a touchy jerk while Judy is the only victim here.
>>87923543More like get darted. I really wished they kept darts in.
>>87898171now that the dust has settled and emotions are less shitty, have we as a race decided if we want the fox and the bunny to be friends or to fuck?

>>87906034>>87906034>extreme leftist propagandawhat the fuck are you talking about?the movie's message is "don't hate niggers" not "rise up against the bourgeois" or "kill all the crackers race war now" it's literaly the most softball anti racism message out there.

>>87920566>It taught stereotypes exist for a reason, but at the end of the day people are individuals so you shouldn't be shocked if someone doesn't fit their stereotype, and that dreams don't just magically happen - you have to work for itTHIS.
As an allegory to real-life Racism it doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm still not sure who was persecuting who in the end. And the movie doesn't seem to acknowledge that Judy's issues stem entirely from being small, and not from being a herbivore. Also I'm really starting to get tired of Disney's "surprise" villain trend. Their all so lame. That being said as a standard buddy cop show its fairly decent, and the characters are very likeable. Also this was the movie that finally warmed me up to CGI animation, the landscapes are beautiful.

>>87923013>premiereit's not the only one. it's just that you don't notice the others because our society evolved to the point that they aren't nessesary anymore.humans were never the fastest sprinters but we had amazing stamina old human hunter-gathers were able to keep rmoving for days and didn't get heat stroke because our lack of fur lets dissipate heat better than other animals.early human tribes used their superior stamina to chase herds of prey for miles wait for them to get tired and then kill them. faster sprinters might have been able to out speed them in the beginning but the hunters would eventually over take them.
>>87925334>I'm still not sure who was persecuting who in the endThat's how it is in reality too. Those who are "privileged" are also victims of prejudice. That's the point.
>>87898171one of my favorite movies in a long time
>>87920566>It taught stereotypes exist for a reason,I think you might have missed the point
>>87906034The problem with that thinking is that you have to believe that the world is truly color and gender blind. "Don't judge a book by it's cover" is a decent moral that coincides with the idea of "anyone can be anything" which in the end means that that friendly politician could be a self serving sociopath.>>87906777>Where the hell is world heading to?Disney made a movie about how prejudice is bad. Oh no.
>>87925521Right, and regurgitating nice phrases and knowing that prejudice is wrong doesn't make you free from prejudice. Setting an example is the most powerful thing you do.
>>87925547How so? He's right.
>>87925781Exactly, people who claim to fight prejudice tend to be massive hypocrites.
I wonder what happened to this?
>>87924852To their credit, there's also the "all dem crimes were just staged by racists, we dindu nuffin".Otherwise yeah, they played it really soft. Hell it's part of the reason the original script got axed.
>>87925853They can be, but Judy's final message about "trying" almost excuses the white liberal ally who will spend more energy defending dreadlocks than they will put into social justice warrioring. It doesn't ignore the harm of prejudice, it just goes one step further than other open and shut works of fiction which will often oversimplify the complex issue.
>>87925976It's more like "Race riots are instigated and inflamed by politicians who stand to benefit from racial agitation". Which is very true in recent years.

>>87926185But it's true. I know of people who had to get attended in Mexico of all places to get proper medical service.
>>87925830no he isn't. the movie was about how it's wrong to be prejudiced towards people but >It taught stereotypes exist for a reasonis the excuse people use to justify being prejudiced towards a group of people because it means that the stereotype is the norm and that the ones that don't follow it are the exceptions.and it's also not even shown in the movie. I don't think that any of the characters except for nick really follow the stereotypes that you would expect from their species.
Judy's thighs have literally ruined me as a human being
>>87926759Are you delusional? All the animals alternated between following their stereotypes and defying them. Stereotypes are not entirely bad, you just have to be aware that they're right as much as they're wrong.

>>87928483Now the only question is what animal would he be?
>>87922559>humans are predatorsNo humans started out as scavengers and became omnivorous, meaning we don't necessarily need meat, but we can live off it. Even cows will sometimes eat little chicks but that doesn't make them the equivalent of foxes. Most of our "predation" is all industrial and done by manufactured instruments, meaning even Judy Hopps could be "a predator" in the same way we are, all she would need is the same instruments we use to be predators ourselves.

>>87902687For the story of Zootopia they wanted to make sure the line between predator and prey was established. Adding reptiles and birds would make the line blurry
>>87920266Man you dumb. The predator/prey dynamic does not equate 100% to any social issue we have. FFS predators appear to generally occupy positions of power in Zootopia.

>>87927400Not the same anon, but people actually go because it is cheap and GOOD. There are some shady places (that not even the locals use), but most of the hospitals and clinics are regulated by international standards. They tend to use high quality equipment and medical staff is required to be very knowledgeable and experienced.
>>87898171I liked it. It tried to be preachy, sure, but if you consider the lessons of what they have shown, instead of what they have said...- People are idiots and assholes even when they don't intend to be.- Racism exists because people are in fact different.- Crime pays.- Police are generally incompetent, as well as more concerned with bureaucratic feuds and avoiding actual work than helping the public.- Politicians are lying conspirators, at best they are only concerned with looking good in public's eye, at worst actively instigate civil unrest to grab power.- The person you absolutely have to be on good terms with if you want to get anywhere in life is your local mafia boss.- Elaborate conspiracies usually fall apart because people are so unpredictable and uncooperative that they won't go along and even if you do succeed, it can all come crashing down in a moment's notice.- The way to get the girl is to be an asshole, and the way to keep her is to demonstrate convincingly that you need her less than she needs you. Heartfelt confessions and willingness to help will earn you nothing.
>>87932567>- The way to get the girl is to be an asshole, and the way to keep her is to demonstrate convincingly that you need her less than she needs you. Heartfelt confessions and willingness to help will earn you nothing.
>>87932607That's what happened in the movie, however. Like, literally the next scene after Nick decided he now has a shoulder to cry on, Judy shat on his feelings in a way that demonstrated that she paid no attention whatsoever to his words.
>>87932732it was a decision between "what she thinks it's right" and "what she actually should do".
>>87932780No, it wasn't. Under a sudden pressure, she blabbered the first thing that came to her mind. But that's not even relevant to my point. What's relevant is the fact that until Nick exploded in her face she didn't even realize that she may be hurting him. Amount of Judy thought devoted to Nick's confession: zero. Moral of the episode: if a girls makes a sad face when you tell her your sob story that doesn't mean she gives a fuck about your feelings.
>>87932863i'd suggest you to watch one of the later parts of the documentary.
>movie set in a world where there is a bland majority and a minority that is seen as more dangerous and violent>minorities are acting more violent than normal>majority becomes afraid of minority group>character points out that maybe the majority should be cautious about the minority group>gets told about how wrong that is, even if minorities are being violent>the eventually find out that it's the majority group making the minorities violent so they can control themWow good movie guys. That's a narrative I've never heard before
>>87932930>Character leaves home>Goes to place>Faces conflict at place>solves conflict>Hapy endingBravo Disney.
>>87932930i dont have the hustle one. so i will use this.
>>87928898Lol. "And There She Is"Cute... I like it.
>>87932893I suggest you try to provide an alternate explanation and moral for the scene based on what was actually shown in the movie, if you don't like mine.Everything that wasn't in the movie is not relevant, and saying that it is insults the script writer. Good fiction is self-containedn - it requires no additional explanations or supplemental materials to understand the story. If a piece of fiction does need them, it is not good.
>>87932956Oh yeah, it's originality I was complaining about itYeah, that's the problem
>>87932567>demonstrate convincingly that you need her less than she needs youExcept that isn't what happened. Nick showed he did need her, and had his heartfelt confession and even though there were some twists and turns, in the end he still gets the girl.
>>87933057>Except that isn't what happenedThat exactly what happened.>Nick showed he did need her, and had his heartfelt confessionAnd immediately, in the very next scene after that, Judy demonstrated that this confession meant absolutely nothing to her. Therefore the exact moment when Nick's feelings suddenly started meaning something to Judy is easy to pinpoint. That happened when he turned his back on her and walked away.
>>87905826>>87929514Huh. I think there's a guy on the zootopia discord channel who's seen it 20 times.

>>87905050>bats are like Hawaiians and live off in some archipelago near the bird nation.I can totally see that
>>87898797I didn't care much for it, but it annoys me how much furries claim anything that has a talking animal in it as "furry"
>>87934921there's sooome truth to this though, the creator of this movie is practically a furfagbut who cares, i loved talking animals since I saw Around the world with Willy Fog.
>>87935021The characters don't really look like what is conventionally a furry though, just animals wearing clothes. I just mean in general, however. I'm not 100% knowledgeable on this movie or its creators
>>87935089true, they're cartoons just modeled in 3d. your typical furry "artist" draws a human with animal head, tail and matching skin tone.
It was generic and boring. looked like an episode of something from the 80's stretched to a boring movie format.
>>87928741>Find me another creature that takes a sharp stick and jogs down an antelope over the course of several hours. But that's the point. We're not engineered to do that, we choose to, that's why we have to make a sharp stick. Anything in Zootopia could technically make a sharpened stick and do the exact same, that doesn't mean everything in Zootopia is a predator. Also our eyes are forward because we're primates.
>>87935236>generic and boring>never before was there a modern talking animals story about political intrigue that's a commentary on prejudice that is also a buddy cop storyOkay sure. It's something you've seen befur.

>>87899824plant our tiny seed
>>87936466Secret of Nimh?
>>87936818NONE. all of these movies are for general audience, not "for" or "by" furries."Oh no, I'm a furry now because i liked a movie with talking animals", drop it. Stop thinking that.
>>87936971But Judy was pretty cute, though.
>>87936971I'm with this guy. The team behind zootopia worked hard to ensure that the bipedal animal characters were actually just bipedal animals. Rather than following re furry style of just giving animal features on top of human anatomy, the characters in the movie are just the animals we know in real life. Calling it a furry movie is like calling The Force Awakens a trekkie movie.
>>87898927>actually features racismwhat is it with people and racism?why can't it be prejudice and leave it at that?
>>87937069my family's dog cute too. i like her. and that's it.>>87937166no no, it was about biases, according to the documentary.
>>87937166They use the word "racism" in the documentary and reference the study using a class of white kids and treating half of them like blacks.
>>87935206>>87937080While it may be the typical style to draw human anatomy with animal faces/features, that doesn't mean that there isnt a style of furry art that is akin to what was in Zootopia. If the definition of a 'furry movie' is one that was made for the 'furry community' (try reading that without shuddering), then there is no such thing as one. Zootopia, Robin Hood (the Disney version) and other stories featuring anthropomorphic animals are quite often made for general audiences. Zootopia is an animated movie aimed at families. But it's no surprise the furries are drawn to it and will 'claim' it as such
Sorry if this has been discussed before but I just watched this. Thanksgiving and family and all. So a bunny is laughed at for wanting to be a police officer because she's too little. Literally towers over mice in an area the larger police can't go.Did they not think through the story? Did they think kids are stupid and won't notice? Even a show for kids should be internally consistent but to make a movie about muh equality trumps logic I guess.
>>87938096Think of it like weight classes in wresting/fighting. Judy is too large to police Little Rodentia (she could have very easily injured or even killed one of the residents in her chase) therefore she is put in the 'general weight class' where she is considerably smaller than the general public
>>87938351I didn't catch that at all from the story. And where's the mice or bunny police? They don't have them? They don't need them? Carnivores go down to the size of insects.
everyone either wants to fuck the fox the bunny or both with the finnick watching and j-ing off
...next, Judy should have an access to a time machine
>>87938737>I didn't catch that at all from the story. The fact that she chased Weaselton into Little Rodentia is the whole reason Chief Bogo is mad at her when she gets back to the police station. By following him in, he continued to flee with no regard to the safety of the citizens and were it not for some close saves from Judy, some of the mice could have died. Weaselton would not have been trying to topple buildings and overall endanger the public if Judy had not followed him into the area. Catching a vegetable thief would not be worth the lives of the mice. >And where's the mice or bunny police? They don't have them? They don't need them?I'm pretty sure they do have mice police. Or it's possible Mr. Big keeps things quiet in Little Rodentia so as to keep the police awayAnd bunnies are large enough to be policed by larger animals>Carnivores go down to the size of insects.I'm not understanding the point of this one
>>87930158i disagree. i was racist AF before I saw zootopia, now I've deeply simmered down
