Not seen a thread on here in a while. Imagine that /co/ would be an appropriate place to discuss it
>>85532200You would think so. I mean I want to talk about it.
>>85532200Careful, here comes the furries.
*gasps* Look! A Zootopia thread!
>>85532501Great, isn't it?
>>85532510It sure is
>>85532574Have we finally discovered what perfection looks like? I believe so.
I actually watched this for the first time a few hours ago - I was kind of surprised how Judy was suddenly a horrible racist for like three minutes right in the middle there.
>>85532603Yes, I think so.
>>85532644it has a precedentlook at everything that happened during the ice cream shop scene
>>85532200I watched 5 nights in a row when I finally got itt was that entertain to meThe characters were very relatable, and well fleshed out and their chemistry was great. Really hard to overstate how much I loved this movie but Eck's dee furry maymay impedes most conversation on it.Really sucks considering literally everyone likes anthro, Thar's how it sells. Its just our recent mass awakening that we wanna fuck em that scares us a bit from wanting to talk about it. Especially with the delusional people that believe they're special that they're "furry" that exist now
>>85532719>look at everything that happened during the ice cream shop scene...You mean the bit where she's pissed off at the racism of the elephants?
>>85532707It may have taken me 19 years to find it, but it was worth the wait.
>post yfw this scene
>>85532802>tailing a fox into a fucking ice cream shop for no reason other than he's a fox>getting ready to spray and apprehend him>patronizes him by calling him articulate for a foxshe wasnt /pol/-tier "gas them all" but she definitely had a bias
When do the comics come out?
>>85532200Try /trash/.People can never hold their shit and Zootopia threads always end up turning into furry circlejerks.
>>8553281721 for me senpai, but yes I agree.
>>85532200I was really surprised by how enjoyable it is. My main complaint is that at times it got a little too tongue in cheek for my tastes
>>85532899Huh I guess I forgot about that.
>>85533065Life is great.
>>85532824>>85533394Don't tell me that people took the obvious ''metal head van'' joke and turned it into ''lol, rape van! adult humor!'' thing?
>>85533319Not with a shitty .jpg it ain't
>>85533456S-sorry? Well, do better next time.
>>85532977When does the prequel comic come out more specifically?
>>85532200Dem shoulders, man. Always dem shoulders.
>>85533448Yep, that's what we did. No regrets.
Zootopia is dead, bury it. Consider it mercy
Best character coming through.
>>85533926Only in your dreams.
>>85533729It's OK. Like Judy, I am very forgiving
>>85534041Good to know.
>>85533909at least talking about it anonymously on the internet is, you can't even make a comment on the film without spam of screenshots from the movie
>>85534233At least they're good screenshots, eh?
>>85533926... it's true...
>>85532200I wanna hug teh bunneh.
I missed you guys.
>>85534459the fuck is this shit from
>>85535336Deleted scene... the jumbo pop scene was defferent, and later revised
>>85535443Ever draw anything not directly from the film / marketing? Not saying you don't do a good job of that, just that it's fun to see OC.
best shot of the film btw fyi
>>85532899The movie does a good job at making her racism subtle. Like yeah, Nick looked pretty suspicious right then, so it's easy for the viewer to justify what she's doing. But it's still definitely there when you think about it. Especially when you realize how much she zeroed in on him just because, yeah, he's a fox.And the articulate thing was great. Nick's response flew right over her head.
>>85532644It was because of the moral of the episode.Even those percieved as "victims" can be pretty bigoted. Judy grew up in a community that taught her to distrust predators. Even though she did her darnest to break the stereotypes she ended up slipping and uncovering some of her prejudices.
>>85535473I have. A few things.
riot bun best bun
It's good to be back.Do you think Judy would tip Mr Big off about a police raid, considering how friendly she was with the mob, or was it simply a means to an end?
>>85533926That's not Bellwether.
>>85538669>riot bun best bun>not hug bun

>>85532977>comic>>8553373927th september, my friends.also there's going to be some sort of series of comic books based on Zootopia, according to SDCC.and this meh police station is out for sale on amazon already, for a second highest grossing disney movie it has some really shitty merchandise.

talking animals are funny, but Disney have something better prepared for this year's holliday season
>>85534349oh cool you're alive
>>85538758The lewdest scene was the deleted scene where Judy is using a computer to get info about the case. Some of the poses she was in to use the much larger mouse and keyboard. God damn.
>>85542357mfw that entire scene

>SIGN ITThis movie was really fun, and it comes Kojima-approved.
>>85543324it's really fun when you watch it repeatedly, and you notice easter eggs, and that the things change throughout the movie. example: bogo's office

Bout to go to sleep guys, I hope this thread is here tomorrow.Every time I see these threads I want to watch this movie again, this was a case where good characters + good character chemistry + good worldbuilding came together just right. I desperately hope we'll be getting to see more.Top 3 Characters ( no particular order)>Nick>Judy>Bellweather
Just look at that smile.
>>85543731i like the much more subtle approach from the final version>>85543608me too, this new "universe" can be expanded in so many interesting ways, and it doesnt have to be about the fox and bunny.
let it go
>>85543731It's adorable, isn't it. :^)
I know a senior citizen who watched the movie and said this image filled her with warmth. She had never watched a cgi movie and said she was surprised how well and subtle the emotions were conveyed.
Why is everyone just spamming screenshots of judy, there is so much more to this movie to enjoy, the other protagonist was incredibly relatable too.Or hell if you just want to obsess over her, nobody even points out how well done the downplayed romance was done in this film. I mean sure they could've gotten away with more but what they did put it was incredibly heartfelt and shit.Like seriously, i don't get it, just spamming images of her says nothing about what you think of the film and really just us nowhere for a discussion. Hell, as much as i hate to say it, posting fucking fanart would be more contributive because at least that would be someone's interpretations and feelings of the movie
>>85544257Your posts fill me with warmth, Squirrel.
>>85544687oh we do that, but on some other board.i love the city, not just these two,i want to know how it works, like these giant air conditioners, so many questions without answers.
>>85544757what do you mean by "that" on other boards?
>>85545078talk about the movie, and post fanart there. i think nick and judy are best bros, there's no need for romance between them, but shippers gonna ship.discuss the movie? fine, do you remember the last scene with finnick the fox? Why do you think he was so angry and then surprised when Judy asked him for help?
Hopefully, Zootopia fucks FEEL THE ETHNIC piece of shit Moana in the box office, just as it has fucked finding Faggot Dory.
>>85545698oh dont be mean, it's from the creators of FROZEN and ZOOTROPOLIS.it depends if this guy will deliver, it's Moana's major selling point in USA, most of the world won't care, since it's going to be dubbed
>>85545318Personally I think nick burned many bridges and may not even have family to go to, especially after his earlier comments in the film after hitting the emotional and literal rut, having to go back to his family, to which he had none, so he lived in a rut under a bridge
>>85545698Dory made almost 500 mil in the US alone (to Zootopia's 340) and 900 globally. I did not like it very much, but you're being an ass for no reason to an ok family movie.
>>85545900dory was a commercial for summer merchandise.
>>85545900Zootopia's continued success and prominence in the public's mind, and more critically the minds of Disney corporate, is the only thing that will keep it alive and not swept under the carpet for 20 years like The Incredibles was. For it to continue to be successful, Dory and Moana must fail.
>>85545933nice dubspoor Lego Movie, it deserved at least nomination.
>>85545698Kubo will fuck Zoo and the others at the Oscars. Look at this shithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4-6qJzeb3AIt was literally engineered to be Academy bait
>>85545777excellent heavenly trips my friend
>>85545980I wish the protag didn't look so generic in this. Everything else is so cool, and then here's just some kid.
>>85545924That may be true, but it wasn't bad (neither very good) and did great at home BO. Internationally it did well but did not impress. It was, however, a sequel.Zootopia 2 would blow Dory (aka Nemo 2) out of the water.
>>85545933Dude, Wreck it Ralph is getting a sequel and the movie earned a third of what Zootopia did. Calm your tits, nobody who likes money (i.e. the people in charge of Fisney) would refuse to make a sequel of a billion dollar movie.
>>85546027yeah, another piggybank for Disney, just like every Pixar movie past 2008.Whatever Z2 will be about i'm gonna welcome it with open arms. but patience, man we need so much patience!
>>85546082what animal is that with the cup? it's pretty cute.

>>85546329Na lad that was two of us. I appreciate those (You)s though
>>85543608I love Bellwether because there was so much ways to read her character. Especially the way she said "Predators are natural savages". She clearly has contempt for anyone who buys is.Is she just sick of being unappreciated? Is she resentful of her fellow prey for holding her back by not rising to challenge?
>>85544687to be fair, there are more great frames of Judy than your typical character in a movie. They did such a good job animating the cast (but mainly Judy) that it's easy to find simple entertainment in these screencaps.Who else here thinks that Wildehopps would be a perfect thematic follow up to the first movie?
>>85546212you need to endure one more month.in the meantime, rewatch the movie!
>>85538975what the fuck is that thing in the helicopter
>>85546384After a lot of watches through the movie, one of the things I think is missing is a tiny bit more foreshadowing that Bellwether was behind anything. There's the obvious "Doug" post-it on her computer, but I more so mean in the way she acts. With all of the great emotional subtlety in the movie, I think they could have thrown in an awkward Bellwether glance or something that would implicate her.
>>85543463this scene is so much better than the one they replaced it with, even the kids can find the keyboard thing funny. That one pose though
>>85546476squirrel, another leftover from early concepts. >>85546484watch again, and look for sheep police>>85546534would mess up the pacing.
>>85532824>Finnick sees himself as a pretty princess>Finnick sees Nick as the rugged hero
>>85546447Cool discussion, bro. The way I see it, the first movie tackles one important social issue and wraps it in a charming noir detective story. They can do the exact same thing with an evolved version of the theme, which instead of racism, is the more current issue of who we're allowed to love and how different variations of that are stigmatized. I think it's a pretty natural evolution for the story, not just "durr wildehoppz furever!1"As long as they maintain the noir elements in there as the MAIN plot it'd be absolutely perfect.
>>85546584yeah I guess the pace would be a bit off, but desu the movie deserved 15 or so more minutes.
>>85546584>squirrel, another leftover from early concepts.there are squirrels in the movie.in the press conference
>>85546626he probably means the squirel would be a distinct characterlike the bat
>>85546584I'm talking specifically about Bellwethers character. The sheep police are obvious.
>>85546637that makes more sense.
>>85545318>Finnick answers the knocking expecting a mammal at least 3 times his size with the bat cocked back and ready to swing>predators have probably been targeted by anti-pred groups afraid of them going savage>being as small as he is, Finnick is a very easy mark for prey to let out some aggression on>this has been going on since the press conference 3 months ago

>>85546444your file name made me realize something, the cars there look like the have tusks like the original warthog swat officers. they either left their cars in for others to use in the movie or made it as a nod to what could have been.
>>85557975It's a curious subject as there are still plenty of people that aren't too thrilled about interracial relationships, not sure how on the nose they should be with that narrative either, Zootopia was great for being really fast with all their jokes that it almost seemed subtle, whereas Sausage Party was very in your face with its approach demanding the audience to look at it, but of course it also threw about 3 other things in your face at the same time too.

The Zootopia train scene annoys me.It's the most visually impressive scene in Zootopia but after looking at it some more all I can see is squandered opportunity. It's meant to be a huge 'wow' moment for everyone watching, where you're drawn into the beauty of Zootopia's setting and get a moment of identification with Judy as she wide-eyes everything. For those watching casually this isn't how the scene plays. People realize as soon as the theme starts that the movie is trying to impress them and tune out slightly, rejecting the idea that a movie should have control over their interest level. Some assume this is simply a token scene for the movie's theme to play overtop of, so they disregard it entirely and wait for the next dialogue scene to come.I think this showcasing of Zootopia's setting could've been better if, instead of rolling it out with musical fanfare and making it obvious to the audience that it's meant to be a big scene, they had completely stealthmoded it. Maybe a dialogue on the train where the camera can see out the window but Judy can't -- she's short -- and the viewer gets to see all of the separate biomes of Zootopia pass outside the window while Judy discusses something uninteresting with another passenger. In this case the viewer would feel like they're stealing entertainment out of the movie that they weren't intended to get. It encourages an immediate surge of attention that is likely to carry on for the rest of the movie as they wonder what other cool things are going on in the sectors of the film where their attention isn't deliberately drawn.Again, this is still the most visually impressive scene in the movie, but that's why I think it could've been so much better. If a scene has a 'quality' of 100 and you apply a +20% modifier to that through some clever changes, it's a bigger net gain for the movie than if you went to that trouble on a '5 quality' scene. It's wrong to look at a good scene and go, 'don't fix what's not broken!'
>>85567705the only gripe i had with this scene was giving too much attention to the Palm hotel , but i know where that came from and i better dont delve further.
>>85550950Actually did see it for the first time a few days back. Wasn't expecting the ketchup blood. Storyline was pretty good and went in an unexpected direction. Mixed feelings about the Gazelle though.
>>85567705>People realize as soon as the theme starts that the movie is trying to impress them and tune out slightly, rejecting the idea that a movie should have control over their interest levelI don't really understand this. Maybe if this was the first scene in the movie it would be a little unwarranted, but it's not. By the time this scene rolls around the audience should already be invested in Judy's character because we've seen the childhood play + police academy and it's been a lifelong dream for her, so it's important for her as it is for the story and audience. She's the main character, Nick isn't even here yet, so this is entirely her POV. I think it fits her character perfectly, recapturing that childlike wonder from the first scene with the play.
>>85568009>>85567705>"Make us love the City first"
>>85567705If this was a movie for adults yes that's how it should've gone, but it's a kids movie. They don't do that backing off because the movie is trying to impress them thing. Kids approach movies with zero criticality and are 100% into it all of the way.
why is it called zootopia when theres no zoos?
>>85568134it was all part of the trap. And the song cemented it.they nailed that part perfectly.Judy was like a gaijin coming to live in Japan thinking it's great. >>85568152feels like home

You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste. Good nutrition's given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Hopps? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed: pure North Bunnyburrow. What is your father, dear? Is he a carrot farmer? Does he stink of the field? You know how quickly the bucks found you... all those tedious sticky fumblings in the back seats of cars... while you could only dream of getting out... getting anywhere... getting all the way to the ZPD.

>>85580927>expecting disney sequels to be good
>>85580978Good things happen every now and then
>>85580927>>85581019While Disney is notorious for making shitty sequels, I could see a Zootopia sequel working out really well. The problem with most Disney movies is they are story driven, and then there really isn't anything left to work with for a sequel. Zootopia has a fantastic world and characters but an average story. There's definitely a lot they can work with going forward.
>>85533068>>85532755I watched it relatively recently and you guys more or less encapsulate how I felt. After seeing all the threads on /co/ I was expecting some overrated fur-bait, but I walked away feeling genuinely satisfied by what I saw. The writing was very smart, the characters were likable, and Shakira wasn't overused at all. Really a solid movie overall.>>85566483>>85567405This was another thing I liked. After decades of every single film ending on some romantic note, it's cool to see Disney shift towards focusing on more strong friendships instead. I hope they keep their relationship platonic just to fuck with people.

>>85581754What gets me is that the moral is something the characters (the prey characters) should've already known from common sense, but they didn't - and that's the REAL moral here, that people miss the obvious things that show 'isms', be it racism or classism or whatever prejudice you like, to be flawed and incorrect. It is obvious, because the prejudice that predators are secretly vicious and the only ones to become vicious has an obvious flaw - Judy's uncle going batshit (they talk about it).And that fact that prey animals are no less vicious, and anybody can see that from Chief Bogo being a water buffalo (or the fact that he's a cop, Judy's a cop, and they can be quite violent etc). Zebras drown lions. Horses can be vicious when provoked. And so on.When I realized it, it made me wonder why I didn't see it coming and in retrospect makes the moral predictable. It's the film's only weakness - but only if that point occurs to you before the moral hits, and it's not likely, as it's obscure. We're all scum alike no matter what we look like! Hooray!--Warren E.

>>85532200Is Zootopia one of the most red-pilled kids movies in recent memory? If you've seen it, you may be under the impression that its core messages were of tolerance, expectance and generally "racism is bad". This is all true, but there's a whole other layer to the movie that nobody's really read into.>Zootopia exposes the Jews and their lies. When I watched it, this came through clear as day. Firstly, the main conflict in the movie is between predator and prey, the movie tells us that throughout history predators victimised prey, but in modern times all the animals have forgiven each other and live mostly in harmony, aside from some minor instances of stereotyping. It's obvious predators symbolise white people, them victimising the prey is an allegory for slavery, colonisation and genocide. The prey is an allegory for either blacks or non-whites, the rabbit character is criticised for wanting to become a cop, as a rabbit cop is unheard of.The main point of crisis in the movie comes when random predators start turning feral and attacking prey, this is played up by the news media who claim "it's in the predators nature to be violent against prey" >It's in white peoples nature to be racist. This makes preds and prey hate each other and causes prey to riot and protest against violent predators.>Prey lives matter. In the end it turns out predators aren't going feral by nature at all, and it was a conspiracy by the assistant mayor, who is a sheep, to turns the species against each other, and all the animals who are in on it are sheep also. Think about it, sheep are prey, Jews are minorities, sheep are the quintessentially "victimised" animal species, they are prey incarnate, which is how the Jews like to be viewed. The main sheep, the assistant mayor is in a position of power despite labelling themselves as "prey", like the Jews who run everything.

>>85587394The only redpilled thing about Zootopia is that, despite Judy's story being about a rabbit who's the exception to the rules, animals (races) are generally a certain way due to their biology. The foxes are crooks, the bears are hired muscle, the voles are bankers, etc.Zootopia as a setting was deliberately built in a practical and true-to-life way in order to make it more believable. The fact that things are this racially divided according to species ability in the movie (with the single exception of Judy) means the writers acknowledge this is how things are in the real world, too.
>>85596056funny choice for the nazi bunny she was supposed to voice
>>85596111Jews love stealing the German identity as a form of total domination. It's why there are so many German names in the Jewish community after WW2 (steinwitzberg etc)
>>85595801What, WHAT?!?!A stronger push for a more thought provoking plot would have been better regardless. It feels like a failed attempt at racial profiling if anything. Which it still doesn't make much sense, since they are all different species. So does this movie imply that other races aka species are inferior or superior than others, just for being that species or race? At least with the shock collar idea, it would have been much closer to reality in a way with a louder and more relateable topic, which would probably include censorship, control, authoritarian abuse, socioeconomic oppression, questions involving the aggression of said dangerous animals, maybe even what the predators eat, since carnivores aren't quite exactly capable of being omnivores. There is no real... darkness to the whole lightness of the movie which just makes it feel like a unicorn fart by Disney (again).

Sure this tangled-sized fandom wants it because it's "ohh, so original" but the city was hell on earth for predators, nick was an unlikeable, cynical martyr, and only moral of this movie was "burn this city to the ground!!" nothing in that movie was justified, and when you literally call the oppresed minority group niggers(chompers) you know you'll have rough times with critics and offended audience.
>>85598177The original plot was too dark and depressing for this kind of movie. The final script is far better for critics and general audiences alike.
>>85598443It couldn't be that bad if they liked animating for this movie, how many scenes were scrapped, 80% or so?
>>85599059Depends on how you look at it. Most of the scrapped material was all storyboard/concept art. Only a few scenes (to my knowledge) were actually 3D animated (such as the polar bear scene).
>>85596134Collars are unsubtle. Putting shock collars on people is something post-nuclear slavers and sadistic wardens on Martian Penal Colonies do. Final product was subtle and it was its strength. It was powerful to see seemingly great whimsical world's rotten core exposed and then partially healed. I'm not saying it would necessary be bad, things like 1984 are as subtle as boot to a face and held in high esteem, but you shouldn't put it above the alternative. I mean, this is /co/, the board of unsubtle entertainment, but have a little thought about what you see.
>>85599288>1984 are as subtle as boot to a faceI see what you did there
>>85599221there was a picture collage with deleted scenes IIRC, forgot where i found it though.you can ask the animator about that lovely cub scene on her twitter, she was really proud of it.
>>85598177>only moral of this movie was "burn this city to the ground!!"A very appealing moral in the modern world desu.
>>855998402 edgy 4 me. I mean really, the moral would be to forgive the ignorance of the prey majority, but that could easily come off as Disney Magic bullshit, not to mention trivialize the real struggles of race relationships. The documentary chose the soundbite that implied that they hated the city Zootopia, not the movie itself.
>>85599604Interesting. You don't know her name off the top of your head, do you?
>>85600927Just search zootopia taming party on twitter and look for the earliest resultI guess noir is a genre for women
>>85601321you welcome, she wasn't making any more scenes that makes you want to pull the trigger,i hope.>Dory merch still everywhere>not even a single lunchbox with Judy For the first time in forever I'm willing to give Disney my money, and they don't want it, what a bizarro world.
>>85601972Disney is really cashing in with all of the summer related dory merch
>Heavenly trips>Angelic image>Positive messageWitnessed.
>>85601972For real. I saw a Disney general merch stand that had a picture of Nick and Judy on it but never had any merch related to Zootopia on it.
>>85532200I was pulled over by a female police officer in Kansas. She was so short and so fucking cute, she reminded me of Judy. >The way she pouted at me and scolded me about speeding through some tiny town in Kansas in her little white uniformI couldn't take anything she said seriously because all I could think about was how adorable she was.
>>85595482Translation or am I gonna have to google it?
>>85593389>No chance of impregnationFanbase says no
>>85587394>mfw Chinese PLA published an article saying Zootopia was pro-West propaganda>mfw they cited pred-prey relationships as some screwy mindset that would upset the harmony of nature and thus represent the U.S disrupting the harmony of China>mfw it was more batshit insane than this post, but someone got paid for itStep up you're game /pol/, you're becoming obsolete.
>>85602593must've been sold out. it was garbage anyway.
>>85602706This is kind of why I liked the idea of butch Judy more than the Judy we got; there's no compensation to her, no real try to be taken seriously despite the fact that she's a bunny. She could have been more complex but instead she's just more fun.
>>85603072That Clawhauser tsumtsum looked kawaii af.
http://www.games-kids.com/zootopia-games.html>judy nick kissing game.
>>85603312>God has come to reap the sinners
>>85600432I like to imagine Zootopia has the deep running problems of our society, not just the race thing. (A completely fucked wage-productivity link, declining privacy and civil liberties in the face of increasingly authoritarian governments and increasingly data-mining companies, a vapid political system where all major parties have triangulated to a ridiculous degree, and so on. Amusingly the race thing is less of a factor, as it's primarily a factor in the USA while the other problems are more noticeable across the first world.)I wrote a large justification that tried to make it sound less edgy, but really it's simple: I'm an idealist who's become jaded as fuck and increasingly willing to take short term entertainment at the pretty flames over anything more rational but essentially a managerial fig-leaf towards improvement. It's not even really edge, just a mix of apathy and disgust.Hence the tongue-half-in-cheek appeal of a moral that concludes things should be burned down. If your thing is broken beyond repair, why not burn it and see what happens?(There are a lot of rational answers to that question, but to use them is to miss the fact it's not a question you answer with rationality.)
>>85603868Because people will build it back up the same. Because destroying salvageable parts is kind of dumb. Yeah it's cathartic, but there are more mature solutions.
>>85605054>Because people will build it back up the same. I don't know: People will remember what happened last time. The replacement is likely to be just as bad, but for different reasons. (Idealistically, it could also be better because someone will choose a positive route to stopping things catching fire aain.)>Because destroying salvageable parts is kind of dumb. Only if the cost of salvage is low. At a certain point, it becomes more cost-effective to replace things.>Yeah it's cathartic, but there are more mature solutions. There are more mature solutions, but those that are both mature and likely to ever be implemented are almost always mediocre and balanced out with creating new problems elsewhere. (Even if an individual devises solutions, there are huge walls in the way of that individual actually implementing them, and it comes down to a dice-roll just to make it as far as a losing political candidate. Meanwhile, anyone can strike a match...)At some point the utility of the pathetic improvement on offer drops below that of pretty flames. (Actually, the entire "Burn things" attitude is probably a fascinating look at how people act when they feel disempowered, but that's another story.)And maybe, just maybe the threat of things on fire smashed could encourage reform - either fixing things, or pushing up the cost of enforcing anti-combustion laws until it's unacceptable.Though I reiterate that I'm mostly describing emotion, not making a rational case for arson.
