Because Nick and Judy aren't a couple.

>>84405543This is the movie with the cute fox in it, right? Oh yeah it is, I liked that one.
How come the tundra district is right next to the desert district and doesn't have a dome to keep a temperature difference? They do all this worldbuilding and show how all the different species can live in one city, they clearly put a lot of thought into making the world believable, but apparently a big part of Zootopia has to break thermodynamics to function? And we just have to accept it because "it's a cartoon", like anything goes? No, I refuse.Yeah, there are cooling machines, but the energy cost of using them outdoors is insane, and they necessarily produce more heat than they absorb. Try installing air conditioning in your backyard sometime, it's a LOT less efficient than cooling a house of the same size.

>>84407286Have you ever stuck your hand behind the back of a refridgerator? Or an air conditioner? Anything that blasts cold air out one side usually blasts hot air out the other. It's because it needs to suck out heat into a heat-sink and disperse that heat where it won't be a bother. For a fridge this is into your kitchen and for an air conditioner this is the exterior of the building. The heat being absorbed out of Tundra Town gets vented into Sahara Square. Their placement next to one-another makes perfect sense, although you are right that the lack of insulation in Tundra Town means maintaining sub-zero temps would require an unsustainable amount of power.

The lovers are the most common way we use the term, the the basis for it is in companionship which can be romantic or just friendship. The directors have directly addressed how if there is a sequel they will have to address whether their feelings become romantic or not and that may displease some fans, but one of those very same directors has been shamelessly approving shipping stuff and even approved of the name "Wildehopps" for the ship so there is a very big meta indication of where their relationship would head. They even had jokes about it in the earlier draft in which Stu is the one who tries to drag Judy back to Bunnyburrow. And judging by online posts, fan-art and fan-fiction I would say that 90% of fans, even normies, would like the bunny and the fox to kiss.

>>84409581I couldn't help it that's my lockscreen ;_;
>>84405543Late to the party here since I only saw it recently.Aside from the basic "buddy cop" storyline, I found a lot of the underpinnings of the movie interesting.Humans never existed in Zootopia's reality. There are no "domestic" species, no cows, domestic dog or cat breeds or or domesticated livestock. The one anomaly is the pink skinned pig at the DMV. Every other character is a member of a wild species.Only mammals are sentient. Presumably carnivores are still eating meat, it would just be birds, fish and reptiles. I doubt we'll see it, but I could imagine farming large reptiles, such as alligators, or birds like emus or ostriches. The fact that all species have thoroughly suppressed their base instincts, but they're still there. Granted, it took a powerful drug to suppress higher brain function, but once under the influence of Night Howler, the predators affected seemed to revert completely to a primitive state. Imagine if some predators started using a diluted version of the Night Howler drug to ride their instincts while retaining some control. I doubt Disney would tackle drug use, but there it is.Guns don't appear to exist. Which kind of makes sense. Every one is equipped with some degree of natural weaponry, and in the case of the police force, a gun would either be massive overkill (a rabbit policing Little Rodentia, or a Rhino with practically any other species wouldn't need a gun) or woefully inadequate (what's a pistol carried by a rabbit going to do to an elephant besides annoy him?)The theme of people trying to disrupt the harmony of Zootopia for personal gain is a strong one, plot wise. They should probably roll with a variant of that.

>>84409262Not anyone that's posted yet, but it could have been the perfect start to a trilogy centered on fixing a broken and divided city. I think people really overestimate how poorly a more noir Zootopia would have been received, everything's grimdark these days and people eat it up every time when it's done well. Kids loved Swat Kats and Invader Zim and all those other darker-than-normal cartoons, no reason this would be different. >>84441631Interesting, the more I think about it the less sure I am of any possibility. On one hand, Nick doesn't seem to show any real signs of homelessness aside from hanging out in weird places (even more so if we take "$200 a day" at face value), but then again facades are kind of his thing.Personally, I feel like he'd be the sort to keep a number of safehouses rather than a real home. The warehouse being one, maybe a forgotten apartment somewhere, some people with spare rooms and a favor owed, that sort of thing.

Why are some people here so fucking butthurt about proto-Zootopia's existance? I'd read a dystopian sci-fi inspired book about that exact setting if they bothered to write. Modern Noir mystery in that mammalian city sounds impressive, and the bits and pieces we can make out through the deleted scenes and art can weave a fantastic tale.Sounds to me that people wouldn't be satisfied with a "step in the right direction" ending it would have had, and all for what we got at the end of Zootopia which honestly would be completely naive to think it resolved any of the prejudices that are in that city.
>>84446783because no one expected to find it in a movie about talking animals. especially DISNEY'S movie about talking animals.it's poking hornet's nest or something.
>>84446902Doesn't that make it endearing? Why hate on it when it took a different approach than their usual work. Even so i still consider what we got a step above several recent releases.Disney usually leaves darker tones to the work of the villain, as in the "bad" sides of the world presented are only shown when they're around, Zootopia didn't truly have that, the villain merely forced out and extorted feelings that citizens had towards each other and shot it straight to ten. I appreciate the world they tried to make before, and i completely agree it was almost completely unmarketable compared to their end result but i think their first product, with a bit of refinement, could make a great story or comic.

>>84447303Hmmmm. Nah. I like pushing, and for some reason the author made that comic in 60's? Era. Which wtf even why. It's a good read but i don't quite like their interpretation of the world. Skipped too much world introductory stuff and not enough showing off the actual city.

>>84447794>In the earlier iterations of the story, Judy's character was portrayed as a somewhat aggressive figure; a seasoned officer, Judy's was much more of a cynic, being well-experienced and no-nonsense.[6] Furthermore, she was more of an outcast in earlier drafts; bunnies were typically an impersonal race that worked as phone operators. The number of rabbits were also emphasized (dramatically so) to further Judy's loss of identity amongst her own crowd—this would have been acknowledged, as her own father was unable to distinctly identify her.http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Judy_Hopps>>84447831stop, just stop.

>>84455166WT park cannot return , it's against the spirit of the final movie, like everything proto- it was a mistake.still the crew really liked it because it was the only positive thing from that world, it was their safe haven so they kept adding things to the park to make them feel better, and it slowed the productionstill, Byron Howard wants to save it somehow , but it cannot be a park that separates prey and preds.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-WMuZdgOLA
>>84455816I think they might use it for the Zootopia short, as a flashback to when Nick ran a sleezy scam amusement park. It wouldn't be predator/prey segregated, but rather it would just be a major safety hazard due to unprofessional construction.
You could still have WT, but make it a park where both sides can delve into their nature, with both pred and prey partaking in the thrill of hunting and being hunted, in a safe and (somewhat) monitored environment. Lifeguard would take on a new meaning.

>>84457177During the train approach scene and the concert at the end, Judy is wearing what's either a sports bra or a tank top under her T-shirt.I think for the sake of not splitting hairs over it, they kept things simple in Zootopia and just decided that 2 breasts is the norm (as evidenced by Gazelle).Functionally it's an adaptation for bipedal species anyway, so if they're supposed to be evolved it's not really any more far fetched than opposable thumbs.

>>84462084>>84462426I think it worked. They showed that Judy had biases that she hadn't moved past, and the fox repellent was a Chekhov's gun that was building up to that moment. Judy carrying it with her was a symbol of her bias that she hadn't left behind. The other part of it is that Nick was mad and needed some time to cool off. He probably felt bad about storming off from Judy, because he had in all likeliness already forgiven her by the time she showed up at his drinking spot under the bridge. He kept himself reserved to see if Judy was going to apologize, and also because he wanted to have a bit of fun messing with her using the pen. He probably had plenty of time to think about the things both of them had said and done and was just hoping they'd have a chance to start over.

>>84468547Yes it's depressing, that's why i want to see it. Movies like this have to have a resolution on a brighter side, i love seeing fucked situations begin to get better and im certain that film would have that ending. They pushed to change the film because initially you'd see Zootopia and hate it, that feeling may have not been intentionally but from hate and distaste comes a want for change. You would watch the film and want their world to change for the better and im beyond certain that kind of change would be the climax. It would be an end all resolution but paving the way.

>>84469279Now THIS is resorting to namecalling. Nothing whatsoever but "lel ur bb".You've been a great audience.
>>84469316>audienceNo one cares to see you or your opinion at all. Stop propping yourself up like any gives a shit child.
>>84469371You guys sure can't stick to your gimmick very well.
>>84469241It is readily apparent you are mentally imbalanced to the point that rational responses and advice will only be met with rhetoric, denial, and childish name calling. I hope you can get the mental help you so clearly need, anti-proto Anon.
>>84469293Stop projecting your wussy feelings onto others. I'd be hype as fuck to see how such a miserable person finds enough joy in their life to not neck themselves and to see how our clever fox thinks of a way out of his predicament.
>>84469293So. No one likes Ed, Edd, and Eddy, by that logic then? Seeing as how they get shit on by life time and time again, why would anyone continue to watch it week after week?
>>84469397Ah yes, the "pretend there's no point because there's no way you'd understand" etc. Classic. Surprised you managed to get those 2? posts of fake-advice out before giving up. Sprinkle on some holier-than-thou and you've got a grade-A shitpost.Feel free to quote and point it out still, by the way. If you decide to drop pretense, which you won't.
>>84469458The discussion is about Zootopia not your faggot as complexes, either talk about it or fuck the hell off.>It shouldn't exist! Is no discussion.
>>84469450Ah, so here we have it. The difference is the fundamental design of the world was not to deliberately screw them on a physical and psychological level, and the VERY DIFFERENT tones of the setting, and the serialized nonserious faux-continuity with not much of an aim in storytelling.Cmon, son. THINK a little.>>84469488I am talking about it. You two turned the disussion to be about me and are still being defensive about me tearing you down. You can stop any time son.
>>84469450you're bringing an old wacky cartoon with cartoon rules, 10 minutes and you forget what you just saw.we're talking about serious movie that was *almost* made, however it'd have like very narrowed audience.>>84469436yes, you.
>>84469513What true difference is there? You watch three kids try to scam others, usually hated by the others as they're trying to get a piece out of the world, like proto nick, Or misadventures that lead to their own downfall.Eitherway, we have protgonists that get fucked over in their worlds, you'd continue to watch trying and hoping that they succeed. That same feeling is what you'd feel for the scam artist fox i Zootopia, despite doing unsavory things you'd want to see him succeed because of how the rest of the world puts him down.
>>84469602>we're talking about serious movie that was *almost* madeWe're talking about a kids movie. Don't forget that.
>>84469608>What true difference is there?Probably all those I just listed which you're glossing over, when they are in fact HUGE. I hate to be like the guy earlier who said this, but your inability to understand the difference between the implications of the collars and tone of proto vs. EEnE might actually mean you're emotionally stunted. Just stop and think about how a world like that would function. Spoilers - it wouldn't.
>>84469685Screw them? You're talking about a group of animals that fucking tore apart prey while they were alive to eat them. You act as if they're a completely innocent group of animals that didn't do anything and were collared just because.Yes, it is fucked up, and it's very clearly a means to a fucking end. At the point in the movie we watch, it appears the collars have run their course and it's about time they've come off, but very clearly there is a good fucking reason they were there to begin with, you're woefully ignorant of the fact that predators kill and eat the very same animals they now live side by side with. THAT is the fucking rub of the collars.

>>84469850>"No one has eaten anyone for thousands of years, but JUST TO BE SAFE we have the tame collar."This was an actual line from the old storyboard.Really makes you think.
>>84469952We don't know the plot of the climax of that film. If the release we got was any indication, thevillain used fear tactics to control the city.Let's say Nick's wild times showed that uncollared mammals were fine and won't attack others. Let's say the villain knew of this and tries to take care of it framing a certain fox. Let's say this very same villain is well aware that predators are fine but keep them collared, subjugate them to lesser positions in life using fear tactics and insures her type of people remain with absolute power. To think that the writers would have such a fallable hole in their own plot is insulting to them imo.We don't have the full painted picture and yet you judge it so harshley from just sketched lines. We can't know how it would have turned out but i'm certain they's have a satsifactory climax.
>>84470223it was in the Musem, does that implies the villain was immortal, a supernatural being, what did he gained from keeping preds away from the city?
>>84470323*museum
>>84470323My art book says the climax was in the animalia stadium originally, during a huge event that most the city would be watching and well aware of. Let's also a certain villain spelled out everything her plan entailed and it got heard by everyone in the city? How do you think Zootopia would react? And let's use your very same pic as an example, the villain on the bottom left. The pig. This original story seems to take after Animal Farm quite a bit, "Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others" or something? Said pig would help enforce that vision would it not? Everyone lives in Zootopia, but preys are greater then preds. That was the villains ideal i would think.
>>84470223You're really blinded by the fact that they executed the collar world so poorly, I'm not even one of the guys desperately defending Protozoo but it doesn't take half a brain to know that the world's broken in the most illogical manner yet.You don't need to watch the entire thing to know the full painting. The storyboards and deleted scenes already sheds a lot of light on the setting and that setting doesn't add up at all.
>>84470223>To think that the writers would have such a fallable hole in their own plot is insulting to them imo.i.. just... i..
>>84470503You what? These are the same people who made the Zootopia release we have now and it's still great. Please do explain
>>84470635these people had no idea what to do with the world they were going to create, first screening was about jack savage, the bunny, spy, then it was about jack savage in the city, audience wasnt interested in the character, but they admired a city of animals for animals.THEN these writers came up with an idea to make something "deep", however, it was TOO DEEP for them, they dug themselves a hole, a very deep hole, (probably) Byron decided the fox will be the protagonist, and whoever came up with tame collars showing blatant biases just tossed them in.
>>84470635Criticizing somebody for doing something wrong and praising them when they finally did something right aren't mutually exclusive.
>>84470635without Rich Moore, we wouldn't have as endearing movie, how would it look?like this:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXCYCBWYtlswithout Johnston we wouldnt have DMV scene, or cringy-funny Naturalist scene, Judy's reluctant but loving parents was his idea too.Yes, original writers fucked up big time, i dont know who exactly. Maybe i shouldnt care, but i do know that direction was awful.

>>84472681just snuggle the bunny.
movie was pretty average and pushes an agenda really hardanimation was really good the animals are cute too but what the fuck is up with it being ONLY mammals? humor was kind of eh. not too much to talk about really
>>84473164I remember hearing they intentionally made no reference to non-mammals one way or the other in case they wanted to write them in for a sequel or spinoff media.
>>84473164i like mammals only, fur is cuddly, birds and reptiles would look alien in zootopia.

>>84474908>'comic'??????
>>84474941Well I guess its officially called a (web) comic but I think a more appropriate name is torture
>>84475027It's not a webcomic either. It's just a one series of panels.
>>84475049that's why I said 'comic' cos I knew someone would moan if I literally called it a comic
>>84475206...but it is a comic. I don't understand.
I lub you long time Zootopia.

>>84447999>her own father was unable to distinctly identify her.I seriously wouldn't blame him. He's probably fathered a continent by now.
>>84479817Why hasn't the bunny society suffered a horrific Malthusian collapse? 300 children from ONE couple is hilariously beyond population replacement level even if they were dying left and right, which they aren't.
>>84405543I wonder if Nick is deathly Allergic to Carrots.
>>84479952In the original Zootopia treatment, it sounds like that's where things were heading. Everyone was going to drown in an adorable fluffy apocalypse of overpopulating bunnies. In modern Zootopia I'm guessing that bunnies don't breed beyond what they can afford to have. They probably use a lot of birth control, especially poorer ones. Judy comes from a middle class family who owns a farm and they seem to be well off.
