>>84200135Delusions indeed. People are so retarded they honestly think that Twat Cops are actually competent and not a waste of taxes. I am glad Disney is trying new things.
Am I the only one who was disappointed there are no reptiles, birds, fish, or arthropods in zootopia? Just watched it, was pretty good. Could have been a bit funnier. The best part with the sloths was already previewed a million times. Only other thing I kind of laughed at was "Walter and Jesse". They did a really good job making all the animals super cute.
I wonder what was going through Judy's head when Nick caught her out for carrying the fox repellent. I also wished she had maced him in the face, it would have been hilarious watching him flail about blind and screaming

>>84208010I don't know
>>84208010They never had a small recruit before.
>>84207989But...This art is from 2013, and I think was released around that time, and Nick's not wearing a shock collar, and the world looks a lot more like the final product than the dystopia in these animations.

>>84208167Yeah, the original writing team can fuck off.
>>84208167I don't see why not. They worked on an idea. They couldn't find the fun in that idea. They switched over to a new idea. The big important thing about this film was that people should like the setting, and they do, so it's not a terrible thing that they shelved an idea that didn't fit with that to work on one that did.The setting is what makes me love this film more than others in the same mold. I mean, Frozen's setting doesn't feel like a world as much as a thing that happened in one specific place that one time. Compare that to this, or WALL-E (although that one wasn't made by the same people).>>84208220Do you know where they appeared? I don't remember any cops the same size as Judy and Nick. (Is that Medium size? I remember a discussion of general animal size bands from the art book or somewhere else where they used the terms Small, Medium, Large and Elephant.)
>>84208263they were throwing random things at the board and hoped for them to stick, i dont think this is how brainstorming works, despite their "research" (trip to kenya)fixated on the "prejudice" angle forgot who were they working for, that's a bad sign.
>>84208344None of this sounds any different to any creative project I've ever been involved in, and the end result was a film that lots of people enjoyed and that made a billion dollars. And there's nothing wrong with putting a serious issue at the center of a family film instead of a big bag of sugar.
>>84208344Their "research" was more for character design with how the animals look and act, and a few other concepts were just merely adopted such as the body of water where all the animals gather in one place.

>>84210935I just want some continuation of this movie.
Zootopia has some interesting things i noticed it did (or rather didn't) have.>No humans (a-duh)>No housecats>No dogs>The two most favoured pets amongst humans. What if humans left the planet to the animals (possibly triggering this sudden and equally shared evolution towards sapient-mindedness before doing-so) to go explore space again? What if this is the sequel to Wall-E in the Disneyverse? What if there's a movie where a Human, Cat, Dog-trio unit of the sapient alliance is dispatched back to planet earth to see how things are going along, just like they did in Wall-E with Eva, only this time, not to reclaim the planet this time, but to make sure everything is okayAnd the story is about the Trio getting swept up in some intertwining case with Judy and Nick whilst exploring the world from a fresh perspective now Judy and Nick are hardened cops.
>>84211346No, that's retarded, really retarded. And they've already stated that primates never evolved in the Earth that Zootopia takes place in.
It's been so long
>>84211381>No, that's retarded, really retarded.I know, i don't care.
>>84207692I just watched the Imagining Zootopia documentary again and I still wonder why did they ever think the shock collars would be a good idea in the first place and trying to push that irredeemable world for 2 years. The concept is just so fucked up to begin with, seeing in one of the early storyboard clips, predators haven't eaten prey for over a thousand years but need collars so that the prey can be "extra sure" with the preds.
>>84211381>And they've already stated that primates never evolved in the Earth that Zootopia takes place in.Lame, why box the universe in outside the movies like that?
>>84211402Fucking incredible bants lad
>>84211425Because they needed a reason to keep primates out of the film.During production they discovered that whenever someone saw a primate, they immediately thought that was the smartest character in the scene. So they didn't go forward with primate characters, and said "Alright, no primates evolved in this world", and left it at that.
I didn't take any pictures of Zootopia cosplays yesterday because I didn't want my friends calling me a fag for liking zootopia
>>84211512Wow, that's interesting how conceited our natural opinion of our own order is.
>>84211548Why? It's a Disney film m8.The film is beloved by everyone, just don't associate yourself with furfaggotry and you'll be fine.
I finally just saw the movie. I bought it for my niece and nephew.Shockingly good and rewatchable where I got tired of watching Big Hero 6 with the kids after like the second time. The opening came off to me as script writers kinda giving up on trying to explain what the fuck Zootopia was to the viewer. Like, why would kids put on a play about this big city everyone already knows about? I get the point but it came off weird. After it gets into it the only thing that took me out of the movie was Sia or Shakira or whoever the fuck Gazelle was talking to the press after the case was initially cracked. She's really insanely bad at voice acting.Really good if not kinda hamfisted with the ideology- it's nice that it cut both ways though; Judy gets treated like shit, then predators get treated like shit.Since this made a shitzillion dollars and seems to be a vehicle for hitting heavy issues in ways that are obscured just enough by everyone being talking animals so that old people don't get too hot and bothered I'd bet solid fucking money the sequel will tackle interracial relationships. Predator and Prey apparently get along but you don't see any interspecies couples; I also watched some deleted scenes where Judy's parents flip the fuck out about Nick and her dad keeps asking if Nick's her boyfriend.
>>84211787>the sequel will tackle interracial relationships.God, please no.Some people already thought the film's message was already hamfisted enough, just imagine the backlash if they went into subject with that.I doubt Disney's gonna go for that topic because it seems like the formula for angry Christian parents.
>>84211548So you did the extra faggiest thing. If your friends knew you ducked neat cosplay like that because you're an insecure bitch, they'd probably toss you in a dumpster.
>>84211900I dunno, it seems ripe for use as a B-plot to whatever crime story goes on if they stick with Nick and Judy (which is safe money instead of designing new protagonists). If angry Christian parents didn't get pissed off about a movie that was basically about racial profiling I dunno if Judy and Nick being an item and people having a problem with it is too far off.It seems like it fits with themes they decided to go with after ditching the predator collar thing- which was insanely grim for a modern Disney movie.
>>84211409The answer lies in your image, hoppsman didn't want to make a good movie, he wanted his own personal movie, obsessed with robin hood he wanted his own, beloved by everyones so he pushed "muh feel" movie about biases, to the point he can't recover from it till today, he couldn't even use the universe he created to its full advantage, there was no puns, no visual gags just a carbon copy of a noir movie with animals (actually blacksad did it first, and even had an issue about racism).he somehow convinced Lasseter he's making a better "Pixar" movie than Pixar.Right he'll most likely go back to polishing abandoned projects, like he did with Tangled and Bolt.
>>84211996The racial profiling is already a perfect fit for the film's theme, it was cleverly built as a modern fable.Interracial relationships seems like a bit too much of a social stretch and is just gonna end up forced hence the parents catching the drift and wanting their money back.
>>84211787>Like, why would kids put on a play about this big city everyone already knows about? That sounds like every kids presentation I've ever been involved in.>it's nice that it cut both ways thoughThat's probably the best thing about the film, without which it'd be easy to dismiss as "it's just racism but with X as this real ethnic group".You could argue that the type of prejudice Judy encounters is more like sexism than racism, although again it's deliberately not a perfect fit because two of the four speaking parts for the ZPD are female and they make it clear that neither of them have any difficulty fitting in. (The drill instructor, and Francine the elephant who roughhouses with the other officers in the bullpen.)
>>84212001I'm surprised that he managed to convince everyone in their team that it's gonna work out till Pixar told them the assurance to fuck off with the collars.Wish I had that much charsima tbqh.
>>84212212I'd definitely say the prejudice Judy and everyone else encounters are racism. Nick's backstory pretty much puts that whole thing to bed. Foxes are "sly", "untrustworthy", and preds can't be trusted around prey.
Seriously , it was great social commentary on stereotypes and prejudices, there is very slim chance they could come back with any good subject for the next movie in this universe. We'll return to the city, that's given, but not in this form.
>>84211787I'm this guy and one more thing I wanted to say is that I specifically looked up some negative reviews to see what critics didn't like and good god they were all complete faggots.Minor technical/script complaints that made sense, but their biggest objections were that it didn't hit hard enough on the themes and messaging because it had a happy ending. You know, this film. For children. They literally wanted it to be an animated version of Chinatown or Training Day or something.
>>84212132>Interracial relationships seems like a bit too much of a social stretchAnd a scientific stretch. Word of God has already said that they'd base Nick and Judy's ability to have kids on nature, and they're already clever enough to not bend every detail of the setting into a metaphor for real racial prejudice.I keep saying this, but if they made a sequel that addressed the issue, they'd look at it more like homophobia than racism, complete with the "it's not natural" detail of not being able to have kids with each other.>>84212320Sure, it's racism for Zootopia's races/species, but it's not a direct analogy for real world racism. Preds suffer prejudice after the second act, but before that they seem to generally be in charge and prominent with prey animals marginalized unless they're also big. That isn't a direct analogy for anything in the real world.
>>84212347I wouldn't mind the sequel recycling some story assets from the first film.If Disney can play their cards right, which I'm confident that they can, then we'll end up with another great animal movie. Might not be as surprising as the first film but I'd still love to watch it even just by seeing more of the world itself.
>>84212288What if he pulled muh persecution[/spoler] card?
I want the sequel to feature the trials of interspecies dating
>>84212419I think you're mistaking them clouding the issue a bit with the setting for safety and the actual metaphor. The fact this is about racism and racial profiling is barely coded. If they went with Nick and Judy being a thing as a B-Plot yeah they'd almost certainly cloud it as this sort of combination of homophobia and racism but it'd be imminently clear what they were really talking about. Also the "It's not natural!" thing kinda is immediately countered by, "Predators and prey living together isn't natural either."

>>84213728Nah, Moore will return to co-direct the sequel along with Byron. He would never pass up a Zootopia sequel.Right now, in Disney's minds, the problem is making everyone's schedules work and finding a release window for the movie. What we know now is that Disney has Wreck-it-Ralph 2, Toy Story 4 (dear god why, just stop) and Gigantic planned for 2018. 2019 will probably have Frozen 2 and Incredibles 2. That leaves us with an earliest release date of 2020, which is unlikely since that gives the team just about two years from when the directors are signed on. So my money would be on 2021 as the most likely date. Although, given some luck and enthusiasm from the team that made Zootopia, they could amount enough pre-production work that by the time Moore officially signs on, they could get the film out by 2020.

So, I completely got rid of the animation (and subsequent 'improvements') I made the other day and started fresh from the base pose. Realised that fixing something that I just rushed into and made a complete mess of would be more time consuming than just starting again and taking more care. Spent an hour or so watching animation and trying to figure out how they get it to not look, well, robotic and then went through an entire matchbox recording myself lighting matches. Had a play around with both arms and started to get something (at least on the left) that looks decentish to me, but of course I've only touched those so far since I don't want to make the same mistake I made the other day by trying to do everything at once. At the moment, using a centered model and making the expressions, including a new base one, on that since doing things at an angle was a retarded idea. Then going to move them all over once they're animated properly and try to get it all to sync right. Not done much today, but started on a proper scared expression (face only) at least.

>>84221840Post more Nick and Judy wedding pics.
>>84224570Hey, that's actually pretty cute and well edited. Not even a fan of wedding pics.
>>84222988I think someone from Disney (maybe Rich Moore?) referred to them as "soul mates" which is why the audience feels invested in their relationship, even though they don't actually cross the line into romance in the movie. Part of their chemistry is the "fuck me" body language that they use towards each other.
>>84224596So did he ever wanted to be a cop in the first place?
>>84224747he wanted to be a rangerits not a far cry from being a cop
>>84224766Exactly. He wanted a pack... and he got one.
>>84224766In the end Nick basically got what he wanted when he was a kid except better. He got to be part of a pack, he got a sweet uniform, and he got the respect that comes with said uniform. And he got a cute partner.
>>84225223he's always had a cute partner
>>84224214If you listen closely, after Judy calls his name you can hear the chair and the bucket.
>>84225188>>84225223Now the question is, did the other guys in the force, other than Clawhauser and Bogo, liked them?>tfw no montage of clips or at least a slideshow of photos of police bants in the force like vid related>we get a dance number insteadhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMjKaqk_3EIIt hurts.
>>84225515It's too bad we didn't get to see how Nick meshes with the force, although Bogo at least seems to have accepted him, which is a good start. There are already a disproportionate number of predators on the force in comparison to their population size, so I don't think that being a predator was ever going to be a problem for Nick, but rather the stereotype that foxes are not trustworthy. Nick proved himself by working with Judy to expose Bellwether, so he probably already had a modicum of respect from the other officers in the precinct when he was assigned, especially from the predator officers who were at risk of having their careers and dignity taken from them.
>>84226027Well said, anon.I guess we'll just eventually see how they're doing in the force in the sequel 6 years from now.
>>842264961 billion meme.
>>84226526>finished commentary on subject
>>84224409well, he was smug
>>84226496>6 yearsIt hurts when you say it like that. I hope it's "only" 4 years.
>>84224409Nick only has eyes for the bune.
>>84226650Only if we get lucky when somehow they can come up with another great concept for another story, doubt Disney's gonna milk the franchise like Cars anytime soon.
>>84226691I don't want them to milk it like Cars anyway. I just want a good sequel, and I think 4 years is plenty of time to get it done. Byron and Rich have 2 years to finish their current projects while Zoo 2 is being quietly worked on in the pre-production backburner, and then they can go into full production in 2018 for a 2020 release.I would love to have Zootopia 2 in 2018 but that's just not plausible for a big animated movie, unfortunately. Not if you want Disney quality and not Dreamworks.
>>84226691they have sw/marvel to milkanimation for disney is not as profitable as before.
>>84226749I'd still love to see a short though. They did one for Frozen and Tangled, might as well have another one for racist animal movie.
>>84226816I have no doubt a Zootopia short is already being planned by the animators, it's all a question of which movie to attach it to. Wreck it Ralph 2 would be the obvious choice, but perhaps a bit too obvious. They will more likely attach it to a movie that a lot of the fans might not otherwise be interested in, most likely a live action film. They will use it to put butts in seats for a movie that needs more attention, and then release it on their next Blu-Ray collection.
>>84226921>most likely a live action filmI doubt that, a short would be also a great selling point for both kids and adults who watched the actual film itself. It's gonna be in another animated movie since it falls in the genre.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWo0gAA9QgMhmm.. all the jokes are like by the book.
>>84226975Weren't the Tangled and Frozen shorts attached to live action movies? I thought Frozen Fever was attached to the live action Cinderella. The Beauty and the Beast live action movie might be what Zootopia's short gets paired with, assuming Disney is still making it. I haven't heard anything about it in a while, and frankly I have mixed feelings about all these remakes.
>>84227016Ah, I see.
>>84227016Tangled's short premiered before the re-release of Beauty and the Beast though.
>>84227016Yeah, that's still happening. Teaser trailer came out a month ago.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c38r-SAnTWM
>>84227410That would probably be the most likely candidate for a Zootopia short, although it might actually be too soon. It comes out in March and that might be too soon for Disney to crank out a Zootopia short. It might be attached to a Christmas 2017 release or a early 2018 release, but I think early 2017 is a little too close.
See you next thread, guys.
