Look at those teeth. Another Q&A for those who haven't seen it:https://www.quora.com/session/Zootopia/1
>walk into Target looking for the exclusive 3D>they only have one copy of the regular exclusive Blu-Ray>3 people already fighting over it>ask an employee if they have any, no stores in the are doguess I'm just getting the Zavvi steelbook then, even though it looks like shit
>>83643358no stores in the *area
>>83643252They've already practically confirmed that Nick and Judy are soul mates and their relationship will be the central plot of the next movie. C'mon Disney, tell the world that you're going to let them make the next movie!
>>83643358screw the Zavvi steelbook, get it from some other EU country. This steelbook is already out in Italy. And other EU countries following.
>>83643470Wait, was there new info regarding Nick and Judy being a thing? I've been so out of the loop lately with dev info. What did they say about them now?
>>83643591Pretty much exactly the same, pic related is Zavvihttp://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/zootropolis-zavvi-exclusive-limited-edition-steelbook/11264282.htmlThe whole thing is shit. Over-designed cover, no logo on the front or the spine (excluding J-Slip), and the spine itself is completely different than all the other Zavvi's I've seen (they usually have a uniform spine)
>>83643358>3 people already fighting over itSo normies are into this film as well?
>>83643656From the Q&A in the first link>We can’t imagine exactly what it would be about, but definitely one thing that we would have to address is Judy and Nick’s relationship. A lot of fans have asked us, are they just buddies, are they best friends, are they potential love interests? We left it pretty wide open at the end of the first one, apparently. So if we ever do a second one, that’s definitely something that needs to be addressed. And it’s fun to think about.>They care deeply about one another and they would each put the other before themselves. And we think that’s kind of the definition of their love. They’re two very different people with similar past experiences that have found each other and made each other stronger by knowing one another. You can tell that Nick, before Judy came into his life, didn’t have anyone to connect with like that. In the gondola scene where he’s sharing one of the most private parts of his life that ever happened to him, it was kind of a disgraceful memory that he’d love to get rid of. But the fact that she can relate to it and the fact that they both learn that they were very much the same kid when they were younger, like the way Judy wanted to make a difference and so did Nick. Nick wanted to be part of the pack, he wanted to go out there and do good. And then it got shutdown. There was something about that. When we were all crafting that together, that was something that we really loved. And we think that’s why people feel like whether it’s romantic or not, it feels like there’s a strong potential.>And in general, Nick and Judy were tricky. Story-wise, it’s all about them, but we knew if they didn’t work, if that chemistry wasn’t there, if they didn’t feel like soul mates and like they weren’t bonding in the right way, that then the movie wouldn’t work. So that was the hardest for us probably.
>>83643684Phew, so they changed it in the end. I thought that the final artwork would end up like this.
>At Target shopping>Check the Zootopia toy section for giggles>See only two of those blind box things left in the stand for blind boxes>"it's fate. Let's do it.">Buy them hoping for Nick and Judy>ThisWell fug
>>83643684>Over-designed coverDude, that's the original poster art of the film. Which is kinda cool, for the purists who hate blu ray artwork editions.
>>83643820>worst male AND worst female characterGoodness me
>>83643819That would have been much better desu.>>83643879pic related would have been better if they were gonna use a poster, in my opinion
>>83643766But most of that I take as "just friends" material, if anything all of it just seems to be them trying to say that they love each other as friends, but nothing more and them very lightly dancing around the issue. I notice that a lot of their answers regarding Nick and Judy always seems to be more "They love each other, but as friends" as opposed to them explicitly stating "They are friends, but they could become more" Not that I'm against them hooking up at all, if anything I want it to happen, I just wish they'd stop pussyfooting around it and just GET ON WITH IT
>>83643766short answer: platonic love in the form of best friends
>>83644050See that's the thing. You can still interpret that either way, that their just friends or that they might be more than just friends. They're very careful with their words, but of course when someone says "soul mate" I immediately think romance but of course some people might not think romance, but just a very close friend. They're really toeing the line and I just want answers damn it. Preferably sooner than later.
>>83644050Why should they reveal the answer when people are willing to spend money just to see it in the sequel? The more people ask, the more they will withheld. It's all marketing tricks baby.
>>83644171>They're very careful with their wordsWell no shit, they know how this works. If they said outright "they're just friends" then the shippers shit the bedIf they said outright "They're lovers" then normal people shit the bedSo it's smart of them to take the middle ground so folks can make their own interpretations of it
>>83644171>I just want answersSoo in 5 years in Zootopia 2? I'll enjoy them dancing around the issue for 5 straight years that's for sure. Also If I still care about this that much in 5 years (Sadly I probably won't, since interest dwindles over time) I'm going to be at the edge of my fucking seat in that movie, since the only thing they did confirm is that in the second movie (if it even happens) they will confirm Nick and Judy's relationship one way or another>>83644265Yeah, I know, but the fact that the actual answer to the question is 5 years down the line is fucking shit. If the sequel was in a year or something then it'd be more manageable, but such is life
>>83644050>I just wish they'd stop pussyfooting around it and just GET ON WITH ITI'm pretty sure Bryon and Rich are enjoying the bliss of teasing the masses of shippers seeing how they act in Twitter and such. Also, good morning, thread.

>>83645665No no no I can't murder the fox, I need to turn him gay. Infact he could be a valuable asset in claiming my bunny.
Something this movie, and in reading Spice and Wolf, mas made me realize is just how much I want someone who I can totally confide in. The person who you both would do literally anything for, and jokingly give them hell about it afterwards. While a romantic relationship would be an awesome additive, I'd love to just have that really tight buddy who you could /always/ rely on. Or the one who is willing to go that extra mile for you.
>>83645952Well I just want to put my penis inside a rabbit.
>>83645908Oh, I understand. What would be the best way to turn Nick gay? Introduce him to Gideon, show him Bonnie? Regardless, we would need to maintain good terms so that when Judy asks for advice from her gay best friend, he tells her what she wants to hear. Of course, with Nick out of the way and Judy mine, I would still have to deal with you...
>>83645952I feel like a romantic relationship would just close too many optionswhere it is now it leaves it open for everyone and is a welcome change of pace from cartoons that always end up with some sort of relationship.

I can't handle this level of fucking smug.
There's a lot of material on the protozootopia where they wear the shock collars, but i distinctly recall seeing the first promotional image of the movie featuring Nick amidst a bunch of rabbits, and he wasn't wearing any collar. What was that version about? Have thy released anything about that version? What about the one where Nick is a spy? There's no way they moved so far forward with the collar thing and not with any other of those more sensible options.

>>83643252I wish they answered a question I made but was ignored:Are there firearms in the world of Zootopia? We saw characters use thinks like shooting darts and tasers, so one can assume that if the movie was rated PG or higher the animals would be using actual guns. But they could say that they never developed actual lethal firearms or that they were all banned or something. Its a minor thing, but it cuts into some of the history of the world, did they had wars? was it against other types of species like reptiles? was it against bigger animals or preds? If so, how did smaller animals developed weapons? Did rats managed to deploy enormous war machines that could take down elephants? Would elephants even need to use weapons at all?
>>83647709clawhauser is such a garbage character. If it wasn't for fat fetishists like you no one would even remember him
>>83647945Almost definitely. Firearms are just an extension of the bow and arrow, which I bet the animals of their world used to use for pred vs. pred, prey vs. prey. Even in their 'perfect' society, the animals are very mistrusting over each other deep down, so (like ourselves) they probably did. You wouldn't need an enormous war machine to take down an elephant. Biological and chemical weapons would do the trick, which rats could probably manufacture.
i need more comicsI already maxed out pic related
>>83648162Now I want to see a short film about a bunch of ninja rats infiltrating an elephant base to release a bioweapon that would win the war.
>>83647570>you will never be in this situation.
>>83648364Watch 24 for your bioweapon fix; it's always comfy since the main character is immortal. Can't really suggest anything that involves rats and elephants, I'm afraid.
>>83647460i think it was supposed to be a scene after OFFICER HOPPS removes his collar.Meanwhile i want to know what's the source of this:>Early in production Byron told the crew to only refer to Judy by her last name, because he wanted to keep them emotionally separated from her. This was at the point where she was supposed to be a bit of a cast-iron bitch, and we were not supposed to empathize with her. After they switched to Judy as the main character, and she evolved into a naive, infectiously cute good girl, people like Ginnifer Goodwin transitioned into calling her "Judy," however Byron still refers to her almost exclusively as "Hopps."
>>83647445>ITT shippers grasp at vague straws

>>83652350This is why we need a 4K version. Could you imagine Judy's bune bum in 4K? Fucking hell.
>>83652241>Semi-autistic headcanon InboundThe cat appears to still be in the feral state, while the Rabbits seem to have evolved into their Anthropomorphic state, giving them an agility advantage. On top of that, they also are holding paw-crafted spears, which implies that they are far more intelligent and resourceful than the cat. They'll probably fuck him up good. Also, does this mean that the prey were the first to adapt and evolve? I suppose it makes sense, given what we know. Think about it->Preds hunt and kill prey, like modern times>Prey develop human-like attributes to counter the preds>Competitive evolution ensues, The prey and preds keep one-upping each other, until they have become intelligent enough to speak, walk upright, etc.>due to this, they can finally communicate, and agree to stop killing each other to build a society (The Watering Hole Drawing)
>>83652353Thanks for the opine m8
>>83652420if you're not into low-res then you don't "get it"
>>83652541That's some very nice headcanon, anon. The cat does seem a bit feral, and it would certainly make sense for prey to evolve slightly quicker than others. This could explain the stereotypes that prey have a predators and why Judy is very quick to jump to conclusions based on DNA later on in the film. It must have been weird for the prey when predators finally became intelligent enough to communicate with them. Probably explains why predators didn't simply kill all the prey when they caught up, since prey probably had years of technological advancement on them (Europe vs. Africa). Maybe Zootopia was an agreement that both sides would be better off if they worked together.

Why does Nick have that self-rightous smugness you might ask?Look at these little shits. Wonder what became of them?Zebra kid: died at age 14 when with the onset of puberty, experimented sexually with a vacuum cleaner when it went horribly wrong. An artery was ruptured and he bled out. His body was found by his parents next to a stack of 'Equine Erotica' magazines.Hippo: became a plumber. Died of congestive heart failure aggravated by an obesity issue at age 32. Twinkies, the silent killer.Muskrat: crossed the line with Mr. Big's married daughter. Whereabouts unknown. Last seen with a group of beavers employed at a concrete laying company owned by Mr.Big.Antelope kid: graduated but low self-esteem issues kept him from exploring his full potential. Last reported living in his parents basement. Spends time posting on anonymous img boards & working in the produce section of a chain grocery store for minimum wage.Horse: zebra friend hooked him up with a dealer buddy selling a less potent form of Nighthowler. Fell into predictable trap that befalls most dealers: addicted to his own product. Briefly forced to sell his body to support his habit, he turned to armed robbery to meet his insatiable needs. Caught robbing the Bank of Zootopia's main branch, was sentenced to 8 years. Died in jail 2 years later from rectal trauma. Prison officials questioned his cell mate, a water buffalo named Rambo but no charges laid & the file quietly closed. Lingering doubts remain.Karma... it's everywhere.

How come in a movie where Apple doesn't exist, all the phones and computers are modeled after iPhones and Macs?It always grinds my gears when they show government office buildings full of Macs. The only time I've seen a mac in a government building is people using their macbooks at the DMV.

So apparently Hollywood Reporter reviewed Finding Dory and didn't really give it a good review. That, coupled with the fact that there are no reviews up yet on RottenTomatoes makes me think that it'll be a stinker/mediocre.Suddenly Zootopia's Oscar chances look just a tad bit better -- here's hoping Moana doesn't overshadow it.
>>83659022I was considering joining, but since /trash/ basically translates to "4chan's furry porn board" I figured I'd hold off.
>>83658919>tear the city apartBind 90% together, give them a common enemy.>broke social bond and sow mistrust between speciesMore like put in a system where more animals can do what they want, than the big animals at the start of Zootopia. >endanger fellow preyWell, I don't live in Zootopia, so who knows what I'd be if I was there. >make life worse for everyoneOnly for 10%, and that would make 90% live better.
>>83659047Oscars are pretty predictable really. Anything that's released shortly before the event is what will win. Rarely does anything released at the start of the year win anything

>>83659356it wasnt pixar who said, that, it was test audience/disney exec, then WDAS run to ask for helpwe'd have very unfunny mess of a movie.
this pisses me off because it's so fucking dumb.If predator/prey relationship was similar to that of the Angry Birds and Pigs, Dawn would have been extremely relatable and her motivations clear and understandable and easy to sympathise with.In Zootoopia, however, everyone decided to get get along. Coexistence is bumpy, sure, but things are generally okay.Bellwhether only wants to act out her hurts instead of, you know, changing a job for instance, turning the city into a shithole for literally no reason. Her cause isn't defensible, but there's always one or two edgy meme kids being retarded.
>>83659412Zootopia showed us immediately, that the idea of the city being egalitarian was a myth. There was resentment, which is how the nighthowlers were able to get people scared so easily. They wanted to believe it was genetic.
>>83659447oh yeah, nobody is a saint, but this isn't a reason to make things worse.
>>83659412Bellwether isn't necessarily fearful of predator. She doesn't have to hate predator to manipulate others into hating them. For her it's about 10 votes from preys rather than the 1 from preds. Her motive is simple; power. It's a common desire we all share, except she's heartless enough to step on predators' dead bodies to get what she want. There are plenty of douches in real life that'll manipulate, scheme, and throw others to the wolves (no pun intended) while saying "It's nothing personal". For them the hatred itself is meaningless, but it is indeed a good tool. That's all.

SOMEBODY HELP JUDY FAST
>>83644294Normal people ship too, the fuck you think Finding Dory is going to end up about? The fuck you think Moonlighting is about? The fuck you think obligatory love interests in every goddamn movie is about? What's different is that most people aren't going to obsess about it, they'll have picked up on the chemistry in the movie and just moved on. There's pressure to not ship a male and female lead because it's cliché and often limits the role of female characters, but the solution to that is writing that doesn't encourage shipping in the first place rather than causing audiences to cheer on a relationship just to disappoint them. Most people who don't want to see them together are more concerned about it not being something that derails a good film or feels forced - had Judy and Nick just kissed at the end for a Disney ending, it'd have felt forced even to shippers. The chemistry wasn't quite at that point yet, but it's just close enough that it gets shippers going wild. It's possible they could write their way out of them being romantically involved without making it feel unsatisfying, but I don't see it going that way. The usual solution of just pairing them up with new characters almost never works out. And, well, people enjoy shipping. Why go to through the extra effort to stop people from having fun?

I think i know why this is so disappointing, to put scenes and characters from the "zoodystopia"all over the extras.-Same reason why they almost wrote themselves into a corner.-Same reason the movie got hardly any promotion.-Same reason the bluray/dvd is out already.Gisnep doesn't care
>>83662082As far as protozootopia goes, I don't think it was a matter of writing themselves into a corner. At least plot wise. They just weren't striking the tone they wanted. They had a full movie plotted and storyboarded
>>83662082It came out in reasonable time. Its been about 4 months since the movie came to theaters. And even if they didn't care for it before it hit theaters, they sure as hell do now. They'd be insane to just drop a movie that made 1 billion dollars
>>83662136>n't think it was a matter of writing themselves into a corner. At least plot wise.it was: if collars prevented them from any enjoyment, and they weren't allowed to take them off, how did they procreate?
>>83662168we'll find out after Dory and Moana if they will.
>>83662194I don't think that was a detail they really considered too much when making it. And though its something you might need to think about if you were to go in depth with world building, plotwise its pretty irrelevant.
>>83662234people would start asking these questions, after all it was going to be Mature movie. If society was fine without predators, why keep them around? they weren't used for workforce or anything, just gas them and get over it. they were already defenseless. and so on and so on...
>>83662312Because theres a difference between making a group second class and commiting genocide. The US didn't start gassing all the blacks even with the Jim Crow laws. And predators were on the workforce. They just couldn't get any good jobs. Nick and Finnick started the story working at a fast food restaurant.
>>83662229I have a bad feeling about Moana. It feels too much like SJWbait and we know that anything that panders to that demographic inevitably fails specifically because they don't actually buy/play/spend on anything. So all Moana will have going for it are the songs. I sure hope they're good.

>>83662483>I mean its not like this is the first time Disney has made a princess movie that wasn't whiteAnd we all know how that one ended. We just had our Lion King early this year. Are we going to have our Pocahontas in a few months?
>>83662541I was thinking more Mulan and Pocohantas.I mean the latter was terrible, but that wasn't because they made it about someone who wasn't white. And Mulan is for all intents and purposes a disney princess.
>>83662424I feel almost the same... something seems off. When i saw the teaser for Zootopia last August I had a gut feeling it was the movie to watch out fur. Moana seems strangely silent... it's almost like its vapourware... but wonder if this is a new style of advertising? Keep things low key and hush-hush? Let speculation & suspense build? What do you think the significance was of Nick twitching when he noticed Judy's Paw on his arm and shying away? You can just meme and pass it off as spaghetti falling out of his pockets, but seriously, what is the underlying hint that the directors were trying to give us with that reaction?
>>83663276He didn't want a relationship with her yet.
>>83663276Just that he still has walls. He opened himself up to her, but he felt he opened up too much that time. He wasn't comfortable enough to keep going. Judy realized this, and was calling him on it. If it weren't for the fact that he actually did have a breakthrough on the case, that conversation would have probably gone back to her trying to get him to open up.That doesn't mean that hes some broken wreck of course. Just that he still has room to grow
>>83662082What do you want them to put there? Protozootopia is all they have They can't do a making-of without going extensively into it, it's the movie they worked on for years. The Zootopia we got was a last minute change.

>>83664886dude, they were hired at disney to make ENTERTAINMENT, because they loved making ENTERTAINMENT there was almost no ENTERTAINMENT to make in that movie.>>83664911and this was why Byron forbid them from calling Hopps "Judy", to not care if she dies, for example.what a madman.
>>83665007ITs not NEARLY as grimdark as you are making it out to be.Its clear there was plenty of humor in it. Yes, it was dark, darker than what they normally do. But it wasn't like no hope dark. There was plenty of humor from what we've seen and the movie had a happy ending. You act like it was some blackhole of sadness, but it wasn't.
>>83665100Dude. The characters you were supposed to sympathize with were all forbidden to feel joy by way of a literal slave collar, the prey characters were all unlikable assholes, and the main character was literally going to be tortured and degraded for most of the screentime. It mind as well should have been called "prey city" instead of Zootopia.
>>83665100It was, definately it was why do you think the final movie is so joyful? filled to the brim with happiness and good feelings, because they dropped these shackles, i mean collars.Otherwise i wouldn't watch it 5 times on the big screen already. you ca FEEL it , the joy oozing from the screen. They were more than happy to make these scenes as detailed as possible, because they were FREE.
>>83665251i think it was going to be called "Savage city"also fitting.
>>83665251I'm just saying you guys may be over reacting a bit.The old draft was dark, I'm not denying that. Im just saying it almost certainly wasn't as dark in practice as you guys are making it out to be.Its not 1984, its not requiem for a dream. The fact that Disney approved it shows that it couldn't have been too dark, however dark it was.>>83665318Savage city was the proto-prototype. It was from when the movie was a spy film that was actually set at sea, it was called Savage Seas. And the idea was if it was successful, they could do a line of "savage" stories. But then everyone at disney liked the city that the first act took place in too much, so they trashed the spy film to make protozootopia
>>83665367too much proto
>>83665367you're not gonna give up, dont you?well, i'm not gonna either.THIS IS WHAT BYRON TRIED TO SELL. this is not not assumption , this is intentional allegory. It was going to be dark unfunny movie for a VERY limited audience.
>>83665715They said they didn't set out to make a message movie. They just wanted to do this idea of "What if predators and prey had to live together in peace, but then things went wrong"
>>83665007Byron is a bit of an arsehole tbqh. Needs to be kept on a leash for the next film.
>>83663452Here, where does that come from?
>>83665817A movie doesn't need to have a message to have a point. The point would just be entertainment.Maybe its not your cup of tea, thats fine. That doesn't make it bad.
>>83665100Zoodystopia reminds me of the movie Brazil, only with an actual happy ending. A quirky dystopian story with lots of dark humor. I really like Brazil so I actually would've liked seeing Zoodystopia.People here are really overreacting to it. It's good that they made the change since Zoodystopia wouldn't have been nearly as successful, but I also think it could've been a great movie. And working on a movie like this can be pretty fun too.
>>83665786i might be thinking with stereotypes, but i think he'd like it>>83665854>entertainment>protozootopiayou're now contradicting yourself.
>>83664573Professional help is available for that, anon.
>>83665715I just wish they had kept the tuft of hair on her head
>>83665933they'd call her trump-something
>>83665933Not a fan of the original Judy. I like cute a bit more than butch though
>>83665917Once again, just because you don't like it doesn't make it bad.It probably would be entertaining because it had a good team behind it.
>>83665218Lol! Talk about hive-mind, I was going to do that same reaction image.. even got the screenshot but cannot figure out how to do the zootopia font. Good job btw.
>>83665994of course, but if that team was up to the task. WDAS is known for making feelgood movies, so they felt bad making a noir-like movie.if you want to make good zoodystopia, ask tim burton's studio.
>>83665795Just half a second before she faces forward and sees Yax naked and about to open the door.
>>83666074lol i missed it, that is even more funny.
>>83666044>Felt badI'm an animator, I feel bad working on the movie I'm animating for now because it has a sub-Foodfight level script and horrible character designs. Working on something that's bleak but interesting and different with a super experienced team at Disney wouldn't make me feel bad.
>>83666236>super experienced teamsuper experienced at making feelgood movies, right?laika would be better choice for PZ, because they are known for making unsettling movie, claymation is also a plus factor when you make this kind of thing, because it just looks eerie
Nick's voice acting during the train scene is fucking terrible. It sounds like he's trying not to wake his mom when he's supposed to be shouting. Seriously, how was this allowed to make the cut??
Is Nick Byron's personal husband?
>>83666544Is there a different type?
>>83666501rushed ending, man, this is the price for the last minute change.
we're moving to lionheart thread now, right?
>>83652541That's a bit far fetched, buddy; the predator is always the first one to adapt or, well, go extinct. You can see it IRL; hunters and scavengers have more evolved intelligence than the animals that only need to know if they need to eat, mate or run.
>>83667059Still a nice idea tbqh
To finish off the thread>>83667343Nighty night
why is a gazelle called gazelle?
>>83667486I looked that up on google and I found; a car, a knife, a route, a sausage, a train, legos and the photo of a woman I'd like to believe is photoshopped.Oh I got it. No, I'm serious. I'm seriously asking why did a gazelle who was starting an artistic career decided her stage name should be Gazelle?
>>83667625Fuck knows. Popstars always choose retarded names for their stage names
>>83667657eyah, bu there aren't any singers known as "black boy" or "russian" or "hispanic woman".
