We've done it. $1,000,000,000. Very much looking forward to the comics and the sequel, but what should the plot be?More real world issues, or just fun with Nick and Judy?
I make this heartfelt post about 1 billion and it literally kills the thread.JUSTFirst for OTP
>>83520245>>83520324If they never make a sequel I'd be okay with that. Not saying that I don't want a sequel, but I'm satisfied with the amazing movie we got already.
>>83520245>You will never have fun with the bun>You will never wear socks with the fox
>>83520245>but what should the plot be?Judy realizes the powers of the police are limited and begins to call on her mob connections as well as Nick's con-man savvy, and is quickly consumed by her lust for power and increasingly ruthless tactics
>>83520430When our PCs can render Zootopia in real time in a few decades, I'm sure a game will be made that allows us all to do just that. The question is, will you remain faithful to Judy and Nick or will you let your loyalties waver?
94 days after its release in Canada & USA. Oh to be inside Disney Animation monday morning.
Obviously they need to do a "police brutality/can't trust the police" theme.
>>83520573>Zootopia is an original IP and it makes 1 billion in just 94 days>Captain America : Civil War has made 1.3 billion so far>Finding Dory is coming out in two weeks which will probably gross near 1.25 billion over the course of the year. How the fuck does Disney keep doing this /co/?
>>83520245You've done nothing but line Disney's pockets.Disney has not obligation or commitment to do anything. It was a shallow world, held up by a shallow theme, and the only reason it did so well was because a combination of the stellar animations and its liberal rhetoric.Remove both of those, and it's generic as fuck.
>>83520582That would be a terrible theme. At least you're joking, but I'm sure that some people do genuinely think that that would be a good idea. It's also incorrect, but that's for /pol/.
As a non-furry I'm not quite sure why I love this movie so much. Something about the plot makes me in love with the story and setting in general.Really happy to see it hit a milestone like the billion :)
>>83520707Okay
>>83520391I 2nd that.. they can leave it as it is and i'd be cool with that.

>>83520725I still find it difficult to pinpoint why this movie feels the most furry over KFP and others
>>83520707its true, the movie is not that good, is just that people want to fuck animals that badly.some other people try to pretend to be in zootopia because they don't have friends in real life.I think that pretty much explains adults obsessing with kids cartoons

>>83520890I have a crush on Nick
Whose hyped for Tuesday?
>>83521097he has to be black since judy is white.black cop and white cop, that's the formula and foxes are like the black people of animals
>>83520845Because it tries to imitate reality more than other talking animal movies. Kung Fu Panda is a fantasy movie so the fact that they're talking animals is inconsequential to the world building (they could be anything it wouldn't matter). Whereas in zootopia everything is more grounded in reality and the talking animal concept is even given an explanation to help make the world seem more real, more livable (and therefore more easily self insertable).

Why is this so popular? It's not bad, but it's hardly worth all the attention imo. It didn't stick with me like other movies. It's just a bunch of talking animals

The animators did a great job injecting them with so much physical character>snappy dialogue>has emotional scenes without feeling forced or manipulative (looking at you Pixar)>tackles issue of prejudice rather fairly with both sides having their own faults rather than one being painted as pure evil in contrast with the goodness of the other>fantastic world-building and a ridiculous amount of creativity for a film made by Disney, which often is very by-the-numbers and bland in their movies>arguably the best CGI animation put to film with some of the best attention-to-detail I've ever seen

>>83520245I feel the entire movie could have been avoided had Bogo taken one minute to tell Judy that everyone starts out at the bottom, that he himself wrote parking tickets when he first joined up, rookies are rookies and she has to earn her way to real police cases. Then she's happy doing her job and earning her way on her own merits, not by forcing her way into a case she had no business with.

I finally watched Zootopia today. It was much better than I expected. Finally a great Disney animated movie that isn't a Pixar one (although I only loved a few Pixar movies). I haven't enjoyed an animated Disney movie since Treasure Planet. And no, Zootopia isn't a feminism and multiculturalism propaganda like some people claimed. But it still has some great moral messages about diversity. And yes, Zootopia is a huge fubait, I won't deny that. :P I'm looking forward a sequel in the future (if they plan to make one at least). My only, minor complain is that little fella didn't have enough screen time, he deserved more.

The other cops are fucking enormous; there's no way they'd be able to police such small criminals. -How does Zootopia make money? Like, what is the driving force for their economy? They must have SOMETHING the city looks like it costs a FORTUNE to fucking support the various artificial environments.

>>83520245The most obvious route is more development of Nick and Judy's relationship. It doesn't have to be romantic, but the bond needs to be tested and hold strong. There need to be consequences to that so that it's not a meaningless choice. Have the adventure take place across at least one additional district we haven't seen before, preferably two. Allow the side characters more of a role in the story since the plot's more about Nick and Judy dealing with everything around them. Whatever actual case there might be becomes a backdrop as character interactions take the forefront (which to be fair already happened in the movie to some extent.)

Also it takes the story away from the city, which is a mistake the directors already put behind them.If Zootopia (somehow) got big enough for spin-off novels or comics to be a thing, then yeah it's good for that. A nice mystery that if you're a kid can look pretty deep, and a general feelgood message about being what you want to be despite what society says. It's "Lethal Weapon (the highest grossing buddy cop series of all time) + cute", for kids, featuring my second favorite AD star. What I mean by that is: Can we get Will Arnett to play Nick's arrogant loser brother on the sequel? Thanks
I'll draw like these crossover artists too.. one day, anons, one day, mark my words.
>>83532451I wanna touch his feeeeets
So, how many of you were surprised at Tommy Chong?Caught me off guard.
>>83536740It is a simple film that has a lot of effort and love put into it. Nick and Judy are two of the best-written characters in recent memory and the world is ridiculously detailed and creative. Add the spectacular animation and witty dialogue. Also who said a film had to be gut-bursting funny? How to Train Your Dragon is my favorite animated film and there really wasn't much humor in it. Zootopia has a lot of good chuckles and the story/characters are good enough where that is enough. I'd much rather have a film with good, not hilarious, humor and a highly engaging story and characters with great filmmaking than a film that is mediocre but masks it through silly humor that makes the experience "fun" so you forget that the entirety of the film wasn't that good (Frozen, Minions, the majority of Marvel, etc.)Honestly, I'm glad its doing so well.Sure it's a Disney property, but it is an original one, and I'd much rather see films like this do well than the swarth of franchise films that seem to be suffocating originality in favor of bland filmmaking, poor storytelling, and CGI vomit.

>>83536811>Also who said a film had to be gut-bursting funny?I didn't say really that it had, I'm just trying to find reasons as to why it's doing so well. While not having "funny scenes", besides the sloths one, most of Zootopia's humor relies on banter and strong personalities clashing, as it should be in a buddy cop movie. And I agree with your assertion that Zootopia works more on characters and plot rather than setpieces and silliness, although the reason for Frozen's success isn't really that (unlike the fucking Minions).Which reminds me, can Zootopia beat Frozen's boxoffice? How was Frozen's gross looking at around this time?
>>83537160>Which reminds me, can Zootopia beat Frozen's boxoffice? How was Frozen's gross looking at around this time?too late for that, it might beat TDK and one hobbit movie.. if REALLY lucky, but Frozen had marketing push too. Zootopia's song is not catchy enough to play on loop.

>>83537802Would never happen. There's definitely going to be something about Nick and Judy's relationship in there though
>The sequel has a lot of ship tease but stays ambiguous to not upset non-shippersWould you be upset?
>>83537802Disney and pixar will never do an openly gay character since it'd hurt their sales in key areas like China
>>83537956honestly they just should do what they feel right or they want.that how the movie was good.i not into interspecies relations but if they do it its whatever.Just make another good movie
>>83533738>they're just so adorable
>>83537779There's no controversy surrounding abortion. There's just liberals who deny the truth that they are murdering a baby. Young liberals these days abhor taking responsibility for their own actions so they just want to use abortion as another form of birth control.>there are actual liberals who are against the death penalty for criminals yet are pro-abortion
>>83538038I need to pick up that game again. I got super demoralized after my first foray into the Darkest Dungeon ended with a near TPK, only my Houndmaster making it out alive.
>>83538193Would really like to get one as a pet if I lived on my own. Having my own bune would be nice for company

>>83538241But they wouldn't talk as much as Judy does.
>>83538315They live for about 10 years, so I'd have plenty of time to teach it. Seriously, they do look rather fun. Preparing the house looks like a bit of a pain though
>>83538038I love this one, /trash/ gives out alright stuff sometimes.
>>83537271At least they put a lot of effort and detail into those cuddly animals than the lelsorandumb twinkies.
>>83538379Real life bun is no fun. They are just moving and shitting pillow.
>>83538485I know about the shitting, but I've had cats that were originally a pain in the arse for stuff like that and everything worked out fine.
>>83538470>lelsorandumb twinkies
>>83538470while universal put alot of money to promote minionsi wodner how much , so we'd know the actual revenue with substracted costs.
>>83538241Why don't you get a girlfriend instead ;)
>>83538844a/t/l ?
>>83520245more world issues with different characters, similar to final fantasy otherwise it'l suffer from Disney sequel syndrome and become mediocre
>>83538838I'm simply going for the larger probability
>>83538838Why don't you get fucked, cunt ;)
>>83537514>>83537288Pixar has a method of approach that has worked incredibly well for their movies thus far, and also happens to meld very smoothly with Disney's traditional approach to their stories. It's not the *only* correct way of course, but it's one that's proven to work reliably, and they're presumably happy to stick with it, rather than try something new and risk a massive flop. When they were asked to provide input on Protozootopia, they pretty much told Byron & Moore what they already knew; The world came across as so dark and grim, the audiences preferred to see it torn down and destroyed, not redeemed. From what I've gathered, I think B&M were working on trying to make it a little more palatable; Create enough of a glimmer in Zootopia that in all it's ugliness, the audiences would still be able to see that it wasn't beyond saving, and could indeed become the utopian dreamland people would want to get lost in. Considering the depth and detail they were able to put in the final version we got, I think they would've managed this hurdle too. But in the end, it was still a huge risk; Going through with it meant making a movie that stepped wildly outside of Disney's established comfort zone; If it succeeded, it would've been a historical milestone for Disney, maybe even open the door for more production's that mirrored Don Bluth's philosophy. BUT, if it didn't sell well -and that was really the more expected outcome- then B&M's careers would've suffered a sizable dent.I think after a long time of trying to make it work, they just realized the odds, and ultimately took the more pragmatic option. Rework the script, lighten up on the bleak setting. And hell, they still made what's looking to be the best Disney movie of the revival era thus far. And it was *still* B&M's work and direction that got it there.
