Zootopia has made over a billion dollars worldwide. When should we expect a sequel announcement?
I can't wait until the sequel when all the shipperfags get fucking destroyed when nick and judy remain friends. Don't even try to kid yourselves, you know it's not going to happen.
There we go. Right there. Here we are. I am happy.
>>83508227People ship them romantically. I'm one of them, but I'm not so foolish to think they'll have them together in the sequel.
it's really hasn't "made" 1 billion, in the end they will pocket less than half of this.I wish people revealed actual seat data, the price of tickets is skyrocketing since the early 00's.
>>83508227No, they already had it in mind, people would riot if they didn't go through with it.https://youtu.be/l-pWwVM7-jc
>>83508114It's funny; before no-one was talking about sequels, but after they decided to make Frozen 2, there started to be a lot of serious sequel announcements, and now a serious theatrical sequel seems to get taken as a given :D
So, if Zootopia could do it, what's the excuse for BvS?
>>83508297>outgrossed BvS>outgrossed X-men ApocalypseI wonder how much those films "made".
>>83508407we might never know, every movie has different types of hollywood accounting to deal with
>>83508369It didn't pander to kids and retards
>>83508297Same goes for every movie. And how many movies in past 20 years can say that they got over a billion? WITHOUT being a sequel, part of a franchise or an adaptation? Very few.
>>83508547Sure it did, just kids with moms named Martha.Don't know anyone but retards that have figured out what Lex's motives or plan was.
>>83508547How is that butthole DC friend, still sore?
not bad for a B Disney movie of the yeari think they should be making more movie like this one.
>>83508114Nick is one rich Fox!
>>83508332> people would riot if they didn't go through with it.You mean a bunch of faggots would shitpost about about it? Face it, hardly anyone in the world gives a shit about their relationship.
>>83508685[spoilers]Should be able to pay off what he owes in taxes[/spoilers]
>>83508555Holy shit. Titanic was almost 20 years ago.
do you think will get a commemorative drawing of Nick, Scrooge McDucking into coins? Nick as Dr. Evil? An even more creative drawing? Nick and Judy at Zootopia predator pride cause of the month?
So how soon until they announce the sequel and the spin-off TV series? Also is it weird that I have literally never seen any kid in my area even mention this movie? I don't even think I've ever seen so much as a poster in terms of promotional material for this movie so I am really starting to wonder if the entire audience is just made up of furries and kids have never really resonated with the movie
>>83508407need to wait for share holders meeting, they usually detail the real profits from the gross money.
>>83508821China really liked the film. They also are crazy over Finnick so expect a bigger role in the sequel
>>83508821there was hardly any marketing for the movie, it did great only thanks to the word of mouththey had no faith in it, this they gave it cheapiest possible merchandise, that's why you dont see kids with zootopia toys or talking about it
Cool, I really enjoyed the movie. Well deserved box office.
>>83508555that billion just prove the ticket price gets higher every year. Even when you take inflation into account, there's still the raw price that still nearly tripled for those movies.
>>83508907no, they just wanted pet foxes. poor things.
>>83508821>So how soon until they announce the sequel and the spin-off TV series?couple of years. Frozen 2 still has no official release date. Disney are no Dreamworks when it comes to sequels.
>>83508951will the fad be over by then? Can't they beast the movie out. They rewrote the entire film less than a year before they released it
>>83508227It's obvious ot the beginning of zootopia 2 they are just gonna be really good friends. By the end of the movie it's gonna be relationship confirmed. The fags who want a relationship get it, and the fags who say it's platonic will get eased into it being romanic. Win-win everyone's happy. They did the same thing in despicable me 2
>>83509018 >>83508951a short before moana, just before christmas season , new toys, this would make me satisfied for a year or half , then comic book.
>>83508913>>83508913Same exact story as Frozen. They thought it would barely scrape by. No merchandise, no marketing.
>>83509037>Zootopia 2 opens with a fake wedding and closes with a real one
>>83508227Friends nothing, I want obligatory Token One Note Flat Character love interests of their respective species and make both Judy and Nick go retarded Ga Ga in love over the unimpressive Token Love Interests. That would hurt Zootopia's shitty fanbase. It may even shut the fuck up all these faggots who keep spamming this movie here.
>>83509136Such beautiful pottery. I unironically love the idea of that, to be honest.
>>83509129except it had an earworm of a song..now im sick of elsa plastered everywhere, from cups , thrugh dildos to toilet seats.
>>83508269Does that mean we have an excuse to over spam Zootopia until mods decide to ban Zootopia threads? If so let the SPAM COMMENCE!It's not like the stupid mods can truly stop us!
>>83509129>>83508913The hell is wrong with Disney, do they think that all their movies will flop? None of their "new renaissance" movies got marketed that much
>>83509136I was thinking the exact same thing. Its a stake out. And we know its fake when we see Finnick as the ring bearer
This is the movie that should have enjoyed the commercial success and critical accolades, not Pootopia

>>83508555You could consider the Disney animated canon a franchise, it's just as good for brand recognition
>>83509267The characters look ugly. If an animated film has an ugly art style? Fuck it, not watching it.
>>83509255When did they started marketing for Zootopia anyway? All I can remember is the trailer up around November or something.
>>83509326They could explore xenophobia. Reptiles and avian cities exist in this world - maybe a foreigner gets framed and Judy and Nick have to help him.
>>83509255HOLY SHIT you're right. 6 months to go, no trailer yet. Then again, it might be getting the same development hell problem as Frozen. That was rendering like, a month before release right? In contrast, I remember BH6 trailers pretty early.Let's see:>BH6 release date: November 7>BH6 trailer 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3biFxZIJOQ>July 15...fine.But the teaser trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vco0SpSz17g did come out in late May

>>83509505BH6 is waifu central though.Someone post Cass.
>>83508227ThisPlatonic is best and realistic. A canon relationship won't do anything other than pandering to tumblr.t. someone who used to ship the fox and the bunn
>>83509566Lame script, middling plot. Beautiful setting though and some touching moments, but it was generally disappointing. Can I emphasize again on how bad the script was? One of the highlights of these newer Disney films are their scripts, but BH6 seemed like it was written by a nine year old.
One of these things is not like the others, One of these things just doesn't belong,Can you tell which thing is not like the others.By the time I finish my song?
>>83509566I recently rewatched it and it felt like the movie was on Autopilot taking you from plot point to plot point without any real feel. They built a wonderful world and filled it with flat uninteresting characters and a pants-on-head stupid villain. It was still good, but it wasn't up to par with the Disney movies around it. I didn't even think it was as good as Frozen, in all honesty.
>>835096081 good film and the rest trash, I see it.
>>83509326Nick and Judy destroying a Bloomberg stand-in
>>83509567>Byron directed CLWasn't it Mark Dindal?
>>83509647Do you want Moore to disappear?
>>83509566It's a murder mystery with two suspects, and one is too obviously evil to be the culprit. It's for kids and all, but the plot is so barebones and simplistic that it's a snore. The characters are all pretty forgettable and uncompelling, save for maybe Hot Aunt.

>sequel happens but Byron is replaced by Phil Lord and Chris MillerHow would you respond?
>>83509835have you ever seen a Chinese film? They are not Hollywood. The only thing America will always do better that the rest of the world is movies
>>83509880>The only thing America will always do better that the rest of the world is everythingFixed that for ya, chump.
>>83509873Byron created the world and Nick Wilde.Rich Moore added the atmosphere. What would they need these new two for?
>>83508407family films always made money, even if they are mediocre like Zootopia
>>83508227> Spin-off potential also means having to address lingering plot points from the first film. Surprisingly, Howard and Moore say one of their top queries from fans is in regards to the relationship between protagonists Judy and Nick, and whether it’s amorous or platonic. “We will have to take on [the question], what is Nick and Judy’s relationship like?” opines Moore. “And somebody’s going to be disappointed. It will either be romantic, or it will stay a friendship, and those who ship [them] are going to go crazy, and those who just want them to be friends will say, ‘Why did you make it a romance?’ So we need to gird ourselves for that.”Even the way they formulate this makes it obvious they're going to choose the shippers.
>>83509932To prevent a recurrence of the original version of Zootopia which nearly doomed the first film. Byron cannot be trusted not to insert his fantasies of sub Nick being collared into the next movie forcing a last minute rewrite.
>>8350983520% of Frozen's gross was pure Japan.
>>83509932For money. Disney execs might figure creating a toyetic, zany comedy-centric sequel instead of a timeless movie about friendship that touches on social issue would be better for their bottom line

Let's hope Disney revives Zootopia like they did Lilo and Stitch. Lilo and Stitch was also a Disney "B" movie, and Disney literally pulled the merch from Disney Stores stores during the height of Lilo and Stitch's popularity. Realizing their mistake, Disney double-downed on Lilo and Stitch advertising and merchandise after the fact, but there was a time when you literally could not buy any merchandise while the movie was in theaters.
Are we getting Zootopia-Land now? Disney should just genetically engineer the citizens of Zootopia.

>>83509989I don't get this kind of hate for the original. Sure it's heavy-handed but it was something interesting, but just not something Disney. I also don't see the perviness you are insinuating. The big reason it was rewritten was not because of this sub fantasy you are saying, but because one of the movie's goals is drawing you to the world in a positive way, and having a heavy script goes against this goal. After watching the Zootopia docu, I actually found it legit interesting to see Disney do something depressing again (as depressing as they can push).

>>83511354No, that other anon is right. Princess movies are always their A movies. That November release is for A movies (holidays will generate them money, and awards ceremonies will generate them fame). Frozen was their slot for that year already, but it went through a couple of rewrites, and they just had to finish it and release it to get it over with to suffer fewer loss in budget. That movie was a dud until the winter breaks kicked in, snow storms kicked in (record-breaking snow storms, if I recall), and the song was replayed a lot. >>83511507It's kinda crazy how much Jungle Book earned, and how it and Zootopia managed to be fine together.>>83511003I think it was that the script just wasn't done when they filmed the movie.
>>83511541Yes but can you be an ADVANCED fan without those things?
>>83511619Yes. There is always a choice, anon.
>>83511583in this case i understand them, the creators tried to make a grim story about prejudices, full of dark humour and depressing moments.Rewrite saved this movie, and their asses. >>83510027I imagining him on Dracula 3000
>>83511837>That listThat's the reason why they aren't doing as well anymore.Having a bag of chips once and a while is good, but when it becomes a regular thing, it becomes bland an uninteresting. Eventually you get too much and become repulsed by it. Even the Chinese audience which seems to gobble up anything so long as it's American, is starting to get bored by the same thing over and over. You can argue that each hero movie is different in some way, but it eventually boils down to >(Some name)-man saves the day with jokes and cool powers that somehow relate to (Some name). It wouldn't be this way if Disney put some more time and variety between each hero film. Even if it's just recycled crap like those Alice films, it would help keep the hero movies feeling fresh, even if they aren't. Because if audiences had just come out of watching garbage, that hero movie coming out in a month will seem all the more fresh in comparison.
>>83512824who's the ravenclaw
>>83512934Hufflepuffs are team people. They're the patient, supportive ones who work well/don't mind working in a team. They're more cautious as well. >>83512633Maybe they wanted to go a different way?BvS sucked, I assume, because of Snyder but there is absolutely nothing wrong with making superhero movies darker. If we have a lighthearted MCU, why can't there also be a darker DCU?

>>83513068Why are there multiple pictures of Nick and Judy having an eevee baby?
>>83513068It's why Zootopia managed to do so damn well despite being a pretty normal movie with a premise that has been seen so many times before: because the number of films between the last one and this one is so large that it feels fresh and new.One could argue it's also furry as fuck but so was King Fu Panda, yet that alone isn't enough to get it a billion in the box office now is it?
>>83513082Jack Savage. The initial protagonist for the film project that became Zootopia. He eventually morphed into Nick Wilde.
>>83513068>aren't doing as well anymoreCivil War is still killing fifth week in. It made its billion in a week, two.
>>83513169Kung Fu Panda didn't have Disney marketing dollar.
>>83513030Our reaction image. Good man
>>83513169It also had the Disney brandname.People have been mindlessly gobbling Disney shit up in recent years -- but in this case I'm glad since Zootopia actually deserves its success unlike some other Disney films *cough*Frozen*cough*
>>83513237Neither did Zootopia.
>>83513237That's bullshit. KFP had way more marketing than Zootopia. Zootopia had shit marketing and felt like they were only advertising it as a tech demo.
>>83509232WHEN WILL THEY LEARN
>>83513237Preeetty sure it's marketing budget dwarfed Zootopia's in comparison.
>>83513285See >>83513257Zootopia defnitely got the shaft by Disney, and how successful it ended up being is an indication of quality... but chances are it would have made bank regardless because "muh Disney."That's why I fear both Finding Dory and Moana. Those two films have Disney's powers behind them and even if they don't turn out as good will be advertised everywhere and probably overshadow Zootopia both at the Box Office and, I fear, at the Oscars.
Did anyone else find the main story mediocre?I mean the setting, characters, background details were all spectacular and the movie overall was enjoyable, but the main story just seemed kind of shit.I think it's particularly that the ending felt rushed.
>>83513353i agree, the main plot was generic at best.everything else specially the city and its district is beyond incredible.
>>83513330>muh DisneyDisney has a couple of movies that didn't earn well despite having the Disney name. Disney name can't save a movie 100%. Zootopia was doomed to fail and be forgotten if not for word of mouth.
>>83513186Because that's doing the one thing in superhero movies that is still relatively new: taking a bunch of other heroes with their own established films and smashing them into one. One thing that cinema-goers still don't see a lot of is crossovers.
>>83513353While I agree the plot was a bit boring i.e. an underdog who rose up and became the best type story but i think within the world they created it became very unique in it's own right.
>>83513353I thought it was pretty solid and well paced. It's a police procedural/neo-noir plot; Investigating a seemingly mundane case, following up on clues, crime scenes and witnesses. Discovering the uglier side of the seemingly bright and utopian city. Plus, character development on both ends.I suppose they could've figured out a better way to communicate how long Judy's leave from the force was though.
>>83513353Well they had like 5 different versions of the film already made. Odds are the one that was approved was a rush job. You can tell they tried to make it not feel like one at least.
>>83513353>>83513403I genuinely think the main story is great for how neat it felt, overall. It wasn't something new but it felt polished to me
>>83513443>but i think within the world they created it became very unique in it's own right. This is a good point
>>83513257Disney carries weight, but it isn't enough to catapult a film to success. Disney only puts in 'just enough' effort before a film's release. Only if it does very good and they know they have a winner do they kick into high gear and market it like crazy.
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4194&p=.htm>Looking into the near future, will Finding Dory become the fifth animated film to cross $1 billion and the third of the year for Disney?
>>83512899Well Nick does go through an epiphany in the end of the movie, where he realizes he doesn't have to act cunning and stuff, just because he was placed in Slytherin doesnt mean that defines him
>>83513568I sure hope not. If this shitty unwanted sequel surpasses Zootopia because of " heh, i remember that" and Disney throwing everything at marketing ill be really upset.
>>83513155Probably because Eevee's look like a mix between a rabbit and a fox if you have little imagination and want something that looks cute rather than a festering abomination begging for death.

>>83513655They're marketing it because it's Pixar(who still has a decent track record), and because it's a sequel(the original did good so the formula must work).
>>83513655Welcome to the general public and movies though.People will throw money at it because it is Pixar and "lol I remember growing up with Finding Nemo."Nostalgia sells more than quality now-a-days.
>>83513568>that imageFuck you Disney. I never saw an entire quarter of the wall sanctioned for Zootopia merch, but NO, Finding Sequel Money is FAR more deserving..

>>83513726>>83513748Oh i have no doubt it will do good. I just hope it won't break 1 billion but if the success of Toy Story 3 is anything to judge off the theaters are gonna be loaded and the toy shops will have empty shelves. Nostalgia is killing the fun behind it while the business booms.
>>83513805Anon this has been going on for a long time. The film industry has been garbage since at least the 90s.
>>83513805Oh I'm not cool with it. I just know why they do it. It makes it no less stupid though.
>>83513802>Dreamworks is still in there with KFP, but that's kinda lackluster now.Don't forget HTTYD.
>>83513802DreamWorks is kill sadly. They seem to think only their cartoony, silly films sell. Then again, what else are they supposed to think when HTTYD2 is labeled as a box office disappointment and loses an Oscar to fucking Disney capeshit... meanwhile shit like Home does better than expected and is hailed as a "success."In addition to enabling Disney to create a monopoly, I blame general audiences for the current trend of bland flicks we are having thrown at us.
>>83513780I imagine Slyverin also gets the people who go over the top for financial gain as well and apply their talents towards that. If that is the case then I think it suits Nick better. He certainly isn't in it for knowledge in any case.
>>83513830>>83513852>>83513860Oh I know films have always been made with the intent of selling to the public, but at least in the past they could still come across as artistic in how they were made, shot, or written.Hell, even the more cliched studio films of the 40's - 60's seem to have more love and care put into the artistic components than almost anything made today.
>>83513778yeah it's better in Japan, but that was AFTER the success of the movie.anyway i have like 10 complaints about the Zoo merchandise.let's start with DI figures:yes, we know , DI is dead, cancelled and whatnot, but they could at least they make the figures more fitting to the movie.Nick Wilde is perfect, stylized, but captures his personality perfectly.Judy, scale aside, is nothing like from the movie, she never used any gun, and is not a kind of girl who shoot first, ask later. She's just a redone Hopps from Zoodystopia
>>83513802>>83513885Oh dreamworks the original sequel whores have a bunch of washed up, done to death stories they are gonna wring for every last screen minute they can. Face it; Disney has won. R.I.P animationAt least we have got the Disney B movies to look forward to.
>>83513844Nostalgia is literally all a film has to pander to in order to do well these days with critics and the public. Case in point -- The Force Awakens. Heck, I even found TS3 to be overrated (good, but hardly "le best animated film of all time" as most people seem to think of it), but they sure knew how to pander to those of us who grew up with it.
>>83513957here's the Hopps im talking about, only changed hair and different gun.
>>83513890>HTTYD2 is labeled as a box office disappointmenHTTYD2 is a disappointment in general.
>>83513977I just want HTTYD3 to be fantastic and win the Oscar. After that I could give a shit. And no anon, Disney has not won. For now they have, but I feel that soon they will hit their peak and not even the most blatant shills on the planet will be able to protect them as another studio swoops in for the kill.At least that is my hope.
>>83513893I wouldn't say he's not in it for knowledge. He knows a lot of things and knows a lot of people. It could only be a byproduct of his desire to work/earn money, or maybe he has a knack for knowing things. And for all the claims of financial gain, he certainly didn't look like he was totally in it and even dropped that the moment Judy offered him to be an officer.
>>83513957I think they're just modeling it after the dart gun she used in that one trailer.
>>83514027>I just want HTTYD3 to be fantastic and win the OscarNot with Hiccup as lead. Good god he sounded so pathetic in HTTYD2. It was excusable in the first one because he was insecure about everything, but by number 2 he should have confidence and sound confident. Instead he came across as having no clue what he was saying. Unless they get a new voice actor, I don't know how number 3 will fare any better.
>>83513068>That's the reason why they aren't doing as well anymore.Avengers is at 1.5bAvengers 2 1.2bCivil War just crossed 1b Iron man 3 is still the highest non Avengers earnerAnd GoTG earned a hell of a lot more than anyone expected, and could easily break 1b with volumen 2.
>>83513992Sadly this is true. Can't really blame people though I've fell into the trap of nostalgia before as well. Huh I just had a thought. If all they are making is sequels and nostalgia shit and all their other stuff is falling to the side, forgotten, wouldn't that mean in 10 years they are gonna run dry and have to come up with new ideas again?Or am i being too optimistic and are we gonna be getting toy story 4 in 2025?Maybe they will start trying to market their flops with sequels because it will be all Hipster by then. The good dinosaur 2."oh yeah i loved the good dinosaur as a kid. I'm a true 2k10 kid" or some shit like that
2/10Tommy toys. on the plus side: it's a variety of characters and vehicles, on the minus side:it seems these characters have open arms meaning they could hold accesories, but there's NONE. nothing they could hold, not even a pawpsicle.Vehicles: nick never had a car, judy only rode police car at the very end of the movie, and meter maid vehicle despite having lots of lights, doesnt light up AT ALL. cheap plastic garbage.
>>83514160We are getting a Toy Story 4 in 2018 anon.I'm not even joking.>>83514128Baruchel was fine. And I'm still more confident in HTTYD3 (Dean directing, Powell scoring, not afraid to take things down darker path, etc) than any of the sequels that Pixar will be shitting out over the next few years. Why the fuck do we need a Cars 3 or Toy Story 4? Who the fuck wants either of those?
>>83514232Cars is just a vehicle (no pun intended) for merchandise. It exists solely to sell more toys.
stupid writings on tshirts."protect the herd""the fox has arrived"who came up with these? i occassionaly find "it's called a hustle" on kid's bedding or shirt, but who the call changed "dont call me cute" to "don't call me cuddly"did a machine generated these quotes?
>>83514271>Zootopia is just a city full of mammals for merchandise. It exists solely to sell more toys
>>83514271That doesn't excuse them. I mean, this is Pixar -- the company film critics and millennials have lauded for their creativity and originality and ingenuity - the company people use as the pinnacle when mocking and deriding other animation studios that don't quite reach their "quality."They should be the LAST company to be given a pass for turning into blatant corporate whores.
>>83514047That's a good point honestly but we don't really know the extent of it before that. He has been doing the hustle game for years and it was only really Judy's friendship that snapped him out of it. We know that HP houses don't define you 100% like a Hermoine is the best in her year and in Gryphindor. So if Nick had a trauma as a kid which ruined his outlook and it took somebody accepting him for him to change then I think it would be more acceptable for the hat to put him into slytherin because he became what they said he was a sly, cunning, untrustworthy fox; so Nick would in his confused state have asked the hat to put him into Sltherin because that is where he thought he belonged. We know the hat listens in any case.
>>83514326actually..variety of new animal toys/plushies.
>>83509326More racism. Topic is incredibly broad and the movie barely scratched the surface. Economic inequality alone has to be a major thing in Zootopia, tiny animals probably earn wages that completely outstrip their cost of living while elephants and the like are no smarter than anyone else but require an absurd number of calories to survive and need everything to be huge. In a society where manual labor becomes less and less necessary, large mammals should be finding it much tougher to survive and are probably not all that pleased that rodents can have everything they want for pennies.
>>83514361Still it only exist to sell shits and nothing else.
>>83514336I'm not giving them a pass, I'm explaining why they keep making them. If nobody was buying the toys there wouldn't have been 3 movies.
>>83514326Where are the toys disney?WHERE ARE THE TOYS?
>>83514394so does ice age, but that shit is keep being milked.need something fresher.
>>83514399Oh no I'm not saying you are. I understand what you are saying and you're right -- sorry if it seems like I was berating you.Though what I meant was that it seems like the rest of the internet gives Pixar a pass, though, because they have such a fixation for their films that they're unable to take their blinders off.It is like when they mock DreamWorks for making a ton of sequels, while in the same breath saying how excited they are for the plethora of sequels Pixar will be churning out.
>such an articulate fella
>>83514232>Toy Story 4 in 2018Just kill me already
>>83514027We can only hope that Disney get knocked off their high horse and have to make quality stuff again but the fact they own marvel pixar and their own shit I highly doubt it.
>>83514428i keep complaining about it too. can i send a message to disney store to inform them im willing to give them my money for some decent stuff?4/10here's a board game, it's neat, simple...and overpriced as fuck, i could make same fucking thing for 3 dollars with a pair of scissors and a piece of cardboard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61N5JDh3Tkkthey could at least add figures to represent players. just like they said.
>>83514526Yeah I'm probably being a bit too optimistic. Cinema and originality in Hollywood is dead and soon there will be nothing but Disney produced flicks. Sad, really. Also pains me that by love of Zootopia results in me succumbing to becoming another Disney drone wanting to give them money for merchandise. Really wish another studio had made it so I wouldn't feel quite as bad that I love the movie....
>>83514337Hermione's knowledge is kind of a red herring. Yes she shows the common Ravenclaw trait (probably her second trait) but people don't always notice that her brashness overpowers this (fucking setting her teacher on fire for shaky suspicions, for one). And I'm not really considering the hat, just going through the personality he showed in the movie. Good talk though. I'm not really into HP anymore but I enjoy sorting house talks.

>>83514154And yet BvS was a mixed bag. So it sells well. So did Transformers. The problem is that people are starting to be less excited with each iteration. Not only did Zootopia sell well but people gush about it. Super hero movies are in this sort of limbo state, where they still make a lot of money from die hard fans and movie-watchers that still buy into it for the name alone. Yet each time more and more people are starting to think 'maybe this has been done to death'.
>>83514614They are trying to starve dreamworks to death. R.I.P.
>>83514635I don't think Slyth's the only house that fits resourcefulness. Ambition fits other houses too, like Ravenclaw. What separates Slytherin and Ravenclaw are their different ambitions. Slyth is more on personal glory and fame, while Ravenclaw is knowledge. They're both kind of the same when working: they prefer working alone.
>>83509835Hollywood blockbusters translate well to most all territories, regardless of language or local differences. Shit blows up, people shoot guns or superpowered blasts, punches and kicks, big villains that want to destroy everything or kill everyone. Easy to understand. Things like psychological thrillers, mysteries, or comedies do worse because those sorts of things ard harder to translate successfully -- especially comedy which could rely on timing and settings unfamiliar to foreign countries. These sorts of movies get heavier localization than your typical action blockbuster. The most popular tv dramas in the world are the typical NCIS/CSI style procedurals, because they are so simple. The NCIS are the good guys, they stop terrorists and other evil people, they show step-by-step how it is done so viewers can follow along. Simple and effective.

>>83514660They're not against animals with sharp teeth to be in the force. It's the fact that foxes are associated with bad things like being untrustworthy and sly and being deceitful and all. What's the first thing that you think of when asked about wolves? I immediately think about how they work well in groups/packs, and that sounds like a great thing in a police officer career. The rodents look like they have their own police force, which is understandable because anything really big could just crush them or inefficient when chasing in their little city. Judy was joining not the rodent force, but the big-sized mammalian force, so she was met with criticism at how she will handle mammals bigger than her. Plus there's the connotation of how bunnies look cute and harmless, which is similar to how foxes are viewed in general.

>>83515334It was one of those speeches/last minute things Dumbledore does at the end of the school year that royally fucks the Slyths from winning the house cup, I think. The author highlighting that should mean something. And again, it is supported by the numerous scenes where Hermione was actually resourceful than Harry. Harry always has things falling onto his lap.

>>83515450I agree that they weren't subtle with prejudice regarding Judy joining the force or other characters not trusting a fox. What I think was subtle was that how in the end it shows you that both sides are flawed and prejudiced, and it didn't raise just one pedestal for one side. It could have been a girl power kind of movie, or it could have been the small mammals underdog kind of movie, but in the end it showed that absolutely everyone had prejudices, which mirrors well with real life. It ties well with the ending speech about how the world has always been broken and we should try to make it a better place.

>>83513257Just because you dislike Frozen and it had some blatant flaws doesn't mean it didn't "earn" its success. It was marketed abysmally until it proved itself by drawing in audiences and Disney realised that despite their expectations they had a hit.But just having the "Disney brand name" doesn't mean shit. Princess and the Frog grossed 297 mil worldwide, for example, despite being marketed more than Frozen before release if memory serves me right.
So how did this happen? Was it people seeing it multiple times? Is this like Avatar where people become addicted to seeing the film in theaters? If Nick and Judy have any sort of child figure in the sequel, it should be either an adopted child or a non-hybrid non-freak of nature. And it should be just one.If the Zootopia team was willing to address prejudice between animals, maybe having only one kid between N&J would allow them to portray a child realistically. Something other than some always happy kid that's doing random shit, but a child that realizes that they're place in the world isn't entirely natural.Say what you will, but kids can be observant and intelligent, and simply lack what everyone else has; experience. Any sort of child that an audience can actually empathize with would definitely put the sequel on the map.

>>83518838I think exactly this was the reason Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois moved over to Dreamworks.
>>83519037I think it is too.Apparently Lasseter, who wasn't even a fan of Lilo and Stitch for some reason (and who campaigned in favor of Spirited Away over Lilo for the Oscar which, while SA is a better film -- pretty scummy to do to a fellow Disney-produced film), dropped Sanders when he refused to concede enough of his quirky "American Dog" idea. The result we got was "Bolt" -- a good but extremely by-the-numbers, generic animated film (funny enough -- co-directed by Byron). But that is the kind of stuff that irks me about Disney, and the way people seem to suck them off and act like they can do no wrong. Bullshit... all of it.
