Judy looks excited for the concert. Thinking about how much she's having.
Nick just looks at her content. He's pleased by looking at her having fun. So he's thinking good for her.
>>
If there's a sequel or spin-off series, I want a running subplot to be how the new mayor wants to turn Zootopia into a surveillance state citing how Bellwether was ultimately brought to justice by a secret recording.

Judy and Nick think he's trying to make a grab for power, but then it transpires that he is genuinely scared all the time that something will go wrong and that criminals will go unpunished without an ever-watchful eye and ever-listening ear in play.

IMAX is the best way to see the film if you ask me. Regular 3D didn't really do much for me, but on a screen that huge stuff really stood out. Not to mention sound and picture clarity.

Also elaborating on this brings to mind how lion heart would have never guessed he'd been set up by his assistant mayor. Call her a glorified secretary but she immediately became just as powerful as the mayor as soon as he got outed. She would've needed another assistant mayor to take her place. This could have been a predator if she had been willing to try and peacefully resolved the race war.

>>81435551
Guys and gals can be just friends. Thing is with how well Nick and Judy are together, how much each of them makes the other happy, and them not forcing a romance in the first film flesh them out. At this point could they find anyone better?

For how much each of them helped the other grow and overcome their prejudices and how deeply they give a shit about each other, not making them a couple would be so fucking shitty.

Sure maybe both of them could be apprehensive because they wouldn't want to ruin their great friendship if the other didn't feel that way, or some other sort of roadblock. Regardless of how I just want to see it happen because it'd be shit not to let be happy together.

Once the planning is done the work tends to be completed relatively quickly, especially when you run an operation like Disney does. It's not uncommon for a lot of movies to finish principal photography and post-production in a year. Even significant changes leading up to that time aren't unheard of.

I honestly wished >pic related actually happened in the movie. Because I am 'edgy' and i like dark shit. They make things much more relatable to irl and emotional for me.

I mean seriously disney had death as one of their main storytelling points all along in their classics, bambi, lion king, and even little mermaid was based on such a grimdark legend that its almost crazy.

Why should a classic like zootopia be any different. Still the movie was great and i loved it. Just saying i would have loved it better if it gotten more dark than it is right now.

Still, I wished pic related was drawn by a better artist, or redrawn by one. This looks like it was made by a 9 year old.

It has been pointed out numerous times that that doesn't fit as a Disney movie. And again, it is hammier than the ambiguous one we got. Pixar does have a point that with a city that sounds so bleak, nobody watching would want them to fix the city or come back to it.

After fleshing out and figuring out all these details for the city, it is a waste if your audience would end up disliking it.

Don't forget what kind of movie this is.

>>81435950
Having a missing father actually added more to his character. With no role model, look where he ended up in his 30s. He had to wait for someone like Judy to bring him back up.

Well, I mean it could add to his conflict. If his father had raised him to break stereotypes and Nick gave up trying to do so after being muzzled and prevented from joining the Boy Scouts, which would have allowed him to show off those behaviors. The guilt/disappointment stemming from that would weigh down on him more.
>>
>>81436017

>>
>>81436026

well then the perfect ending would be them leaving zootopia to make a new life together right?!

Even sets the background for a sequel for them to come back in order to fix the city.

Where the hell does pixar get this market info? From the assumptions of their managers and marketers or did they actually go out with a survey and sample size stuff.

If they relied on their internal marketing department then how could i trust them to speak for the audience?

Just curious.
>>

>Where the hell does pixar get this market info?
From making movies and winning awards.

>waiting for a sequel to come back to the city
Why would they risk that, when Disney in the first place didn't even trust on this movie that much?

Why waste building such a detailed city, just for your audience to get mad at it and want the protags to leave? Why trust on having a sequel when they can just make the audience love the city in the first movie?

The message was already clear, that even though the city looks pretty great and detailed, there still are bellwethers in it that plant seeds of discord, like in real life.

What you're looking for is not in this movie. Disney does not make depressing movies (anymore?). Maybe Pixar, but not Disney.

It's hard to make a movie about overcoming prejudice that resonates with the audience when what the audience wants is for the prejudiced theater to just fucking go die.

Because it's not a princess movie and they have a princess movie later this year, which they're probably banking on more to succeed.

Personally, reading the bits that they revealed from the scrapped plot, I also have the same sentiments. It sounds such a horrid place that I do want Nick to leave or at least have some kind of revenge.

That would have been okay, but they were banking on making Zootopia's world as such an incredible place, with its own animal culture built from the ground.

What I mean is, right now, people are hungry for more content, people are still seeing the movie, and content is relatively thin on the ground at this point in time. What does waiting get you, realistically? Time for the audience to lose interest, that's all. The fanbase is eager and it's probably the best time to write; you'll get lots of traffic and hopefully some decent critiques if nothing else. I don't think there's even a thousand stories period yet.

Don't kill yourself over worrying about what other people are doing, man. Do your own thing. If it helps, the post-concert hookup actually seems to be somewhat rare right now. The most popular type of story, from what I've seen, is either "Nick meets the parents" or "Nick and Judy's relationship is taboo".

I still bank Gazelle then. I would see Nick's mom as just wanting him to be happy and there's something bittersweet about Gazelle feeling terrible for abandoning Nick like she did.

>She saw him at the concert
>She wanted so bad to jump off the stage, hug him, and apologize
>She then sees Judy
>She sees him smile with her
>Gazelle just keeps singing and dancing, feeling at peace to know someone is healing Nick's heart

>If Nick found out she felt this way he'd think she was being ridiculous since he wasn't really that hurt and figured her parents were right to break them up since he was already a con artist by that point.

>>81436188
I do know what you mean. I did enjoy the concept of the old Zootopuia plot too, but I think the end product we got was nicer with a more positive message.

It's like how I feel Disney's Mulan sends a better message than the three different versions I've heard. (Boils down to one being "Mulan succeeds DESPITE being a woman." another was "she succeeds BECAUSE she is a woman" and Disney's was "man or woman had jack all to do with it, she succeeded because she was Mulan")
>>
>>81436224
I hope Moana flops since it's just another Princess movie. I don't see how its story can top Zootopias, or the world, the backgrounds, everything. Zootopia just wanted to be a good movie with animal people instead of being the next Princess.

Maybe Moana will be good, I just haven't seen anything from it that sticks out to me as interesting. Zootopia seemed fun from the very start.
>>
>tfw it doesn't recognize Nick
https://www.captionbot.ai/
>>
>>81436242

I felt that the point in the one that actually got made was better, anyway.

Old Zootopia was basically nazi style blatant racial inferiority thing, with predators as inferior citizens that had to wear visible identifiers and which were always treated like shit. The new one is subtler, but more applicable, and probably more needed. It's too common in fiction to depict racism and prejudice as a thing that only bad guys do. You make a dude racist so the audience cottons on immediately that this guy is supposed to be the baddie.

But Zootopia reminds us that prejudice is NOT just a thing bad guys do. Perfectly pleasant, even downright heroic people can be prejudiced, and hurt others without meaning to. You and I could very well seriously hurt others without ever meaning to if we don't pay attention to our biases and just profile people based on stereotypes and old cliches. And that seems like a more relevant topic for modern society.

If you're the anon wanting Nick to bite Judy while being feral and then cry about it while Judy is clinging to life, then that's fucking graphic.

I think it's weird that so many people want to write about Nick meeting Judy's parents and overcoming that whole ordeal but I'm pretty sure the only story I've seen so far that has Nick reuniting with his mom is a pastebin story that some based /co/mrade wrote for us. Everyone just says she's dead, instead.

Depends on how you count it. BvS will probably pass Zootopia on the domestic charts, but it likely won't catch up on the worldwide gross, especially once Japan kicks into gear in two and a half weeks.

I'd have to agree, he summed it up perfectly. Bogo said something I really liked, too. He told Judy she was giving herself too much credit for breaking the city. That it was and always will be broken and it's why they need good cops like her.

It's not often to see characters just come out and say their world isn't perfect like that. Judy thought of Zootopia as ideal, but it was always off. Sure everyone just going about their day, but still imperfect.

Hell the city is still not perfect, but I think Judy and Nick are far better individuals now. They helped each other on a really deep level. It's why I want them as a couple.

Eh this isn't American Pie. I think the worst that would happen is that Judy slaps her phone in the morning thinking it's the alarm clock going off, but it's really her parents calling, and they're like "what's that snoring sound? Is there someone else there?" and Judy freaks out and gives them the "loveyouguysgoodbye!" hangup.
>>
>>81436396

Another thing I liked is that the movie was very clear on prejudice being bad without any group being a direct parallel of a real life group. Instead, elements from real life prejudiced reactions are mixed in as genuinely appropriate for the situation. It didn't say "prejudice against this specific group that is clearly paralleling [Group X] is bad", it created a new situation with enough links to reality for us to relate to it, but which is new enough that it requires people to look at the specific situation instead of just going "oh, predators are just meant to be [X], I get the alllegory, haha" and putting it in the preexisting mental box. ,

Honestly, I have no idea who wrote this, but I really would love to see what they could come up with without Disney Marketing breathing down their necks. Zootopia was seriously well crafted despite that.

To his mother Judy probably saved his soul. Not in some religious way, but a personal way. Judy gave him back his boyscout ideal and his desire to be included with prey in life. What someone else pointed out what how Bonnie and Stu are always portrayed as against the idea of a Fox boyfriend. It makes sense, given things they've gone through but maybe them being more accepting could be a fun change of pace.

But this is mostly because I play with the idea of a 'crossover' and have it revealed there's at least one member of Judy's family per-generation who goes interspecies, such as her Aunt Ruby, her Great Uncle Roger, her Great great great Uncle Oswald, etc.

Also, given how NOT small massive simulated biomes like Sahara Square and Tundra town seem, I feel like it'd be safe to say Zootopia's probably, at least, the size of the Los Angeles County. (4,751 sq mi or 12,310 sq. km)

Really, it's amazing Zootopia can get away with being called a city and not a freakin' Citystate. (though one person does note on the DMV forms, "Zootopia" is placed where State name normally would go)

Fuck, now i'm wondering what 'country' Zootopia has a whole might belong to. Given Judy seemed to need no passports, it would suggest it's in the same country as Bunny Burrows. (And BB is recognized as a separate settlement despite the old concept art. The creators compared it to "The difference between living out in Yonkers and going to New York")

Be careful with being overly reliant on hairstyles though as a means to convey certain animal attributes. Your Lionheart does look fine, though twintails don't always work for rabbit ear analogues as rabbit ears do not function like hair. At all. Rabbit ears are part of their body language, and about a third to half the time, they're up on end. Hair, unless it belongs to Millia Rage or Fillia isn't so expressive.

It's likely part of a union of states, as "federal tax evasion" comes up. Almost certainly the same country as Bunnyburrow's in, probably the same state. Something like New York City, NY to Hamilton, NY.

I took it as the tri-burrows would just be a group of well known counties in it's own state. As for Zootopia, it's likely that it belongs to a much larger state, which it shares a name with, so basically, it has thee New York effect where the city is synonymous with the state.

You only need to thank yourself, anon. Also great image, but I can't tell who drew it.

I like the original concept of Zootopia because it was so interesting to have an almost dystopian city where everything is joyous and animals are all seemingly cheery and living in harmony, plus the idea of an underground district seemed cool as shit, like the expanse of tunnels under LA. I would have loved for Judy and Nick to be actually odds with each other (the concept art of Judy handcuffing herself to Nick looks cute as shit) but what made me want it most of all was the gif of Nick rubbing his neck after being de-collared, and this quote:
>I ask Howard if there a moment in the film’s development where it all came together. “Yes, when we flipped the film’s protagonist a year and a half ago,” he replies. “We took what we had shot so far to Pixar to let a fresh audience take a look at it. We didn’t set them up at all, just asked them to watch and be blunt. [WALL-E director Andrew] Stanton said, ‘You’re introducing the film thru Nick’s eyes. He’s a cynic who doesn’t like the city, therefore I can’t root for the city; I want Nick to escape from the city rather than see it healed.’”

Well it wouldn't actually have light, it's the nocturnal district. But I hear ya on the rain, Anon. The thing that entices me about Zootopia, though, is the amount of cool shit you could do. You could, in theory, go skiing, dune buggying, and surfing or some shit all in the same day, then wind down on the couch in your apartment situated in your district of choice.
>>
>>81437186
Would the nocturnal district be a dome or underground section of the city where it's artificially kept dark, or is it just a district where everyone sleeps during the day and goes out at night?

I'm pretty sure if a creature is nocturnal an intelligent one would be able to adapt to daytime hours easily, although I'm not sure what the operating logic would be in Zootopia. It could be that the "nocturnal district" merely refers to a part of the city with very active night life and entertainment, like lots of clubs, casinos, theaters, bars etc. After all, one of NYC's many nicknames is "the city that never sleeps.

I see a lot of people refer to foxes as being nocturnal, although I find this somewhat dubious from firsthand experience. I have a fox living in my yard and I've seen her in the daytime multiple times. Just today around noon I saw her rolling around in the grass like a silly little dog. They can adapt quite comfortably to the needs of whatever area they're in.

/christian/ fag here, just got something that I was pondering about.
So according to the bible, Adam and Eve went on to put some clothes because they've eaten from the tree of knowledge, thus not only making them realize their nakedness but also gave them the idea of shame. Hence the two began to wear leaves. When God came back and saw them wearing leaves, God goes 'you cracka's ate some of the fruits from the tree that I've said you should not eat?" and the two goes "No."... hence cementing the fact that they did indeed eat at tree of knowledge.

Now the question is what prompt the citizens of the zootopian univ to wear clothes. Do they have religious reasons to wear clothes? Is it because of shame? Adaptation to the weather(I dont know about that, I mean we humans wear clothes because we got no fur). Also who came up with the idea of being ashamed of being naked in the zootopia?

The elephant was racist though, and so of course he'd reach for a stereotype. Some foxes only go out at night and therefore, some mammals stereotype all of them as nocturnal. Gideon, Finnick, and Nick's mom were all diurnal and they're the only other foxes we saw in the movie (the flashback with Nick's mom was clearly during the daytime).

A dog will cover up its genitals with its tail if it feels ashamed. It's a mammal thing I guess.
>>
Nick and Judy might not be together at the end of the movie but Judy's search history almost certainly contains "Young bun girl gets called cute and preded by sneaky fox"

Foxes in real life are fully capable of operating during daytime but apparently prefer nocturnal activity. It'd make sense that as con-men, Nick and Finnick would be active during times of greatest traffic; Nick--until we hear otherwise--had a single mom, so she probably took whatever she could get, which apparently wasn't much.

Not saying you're wrong, but we see very few foxes, with Nick and Finnick's presence apparently differing from the majority. It's probably a safe assumption that most foxes either live in the nocturnal district or operate at night, at least until we get some more information.

She probably picked up a fox dildo from the Zootopian Bad Dragon almost immediately.
>>
Concept art Zootopia was a terrible idea, and I'm glad it wasn't made.
>>
>>81437642
Kek, though I don't think they'd need a specialty store for that stuff. It would just be regular dildos.

Yes

How about I fuck your father, you fucking faggot?
>>
>>81437675
Wear a hat and trenchcoat, nobody will ever know its you. Unless the comedy mishaps happen and Clawhauser finds you buying a fox dildo, because funnily enough, he's also there to buy one.
>>
>>81437713
>Clawhauser
>Not buying a buffalo dildo
>>
>>81437703
In disguise, maybe. If anybody is gonna stroll in and ask for a weird sex toy, it'd be Nick. Hell, he's probably friends with the clerk. Either that or Finnick gets him a rabbit fleshlight as a joke and he ends up enjoying it.
>>

That ship is bad and it's fans should feel bad.

>Just like Gideon Fags
>>
>>81437607
Judy's favorite tag is probably "predator/prey." And she likely owns an orange canine dildo.
>>
>>81437675
I'd assume that would be a very common fetish in Zootopian society. I don't know if I could see her buying one in person, but I just meant that they probably see that sort of thing all the time in sex shops.
>>
>>81437727
He probably already has one, now it's time for some variety.
>>
>>81437734
From the movie. Judy took try everything seriously she probably has a vast collection of weird toys and gear.

I wouldn't say it was terrible. There were interesting bits, but yeah overall it's good that it wasn't made and we got a subtler one instead.

>>
>>81437760
It probably appeals to base instincts. Prey desire to know what it's like to be "wanted" by a predator, and there's the sense of danger that makes it more exciting. Predators enjoy the feeling of "stalking" and "hunting" prey, with a carnal reward for their success.

I'm so glad I'm not alone with that. Other characters like them from other shows, I've got plenty of pics saved. I think it's that they're too well done as believable characters that it almost feels like I'm invading their privacy or something.

you know, anon. I think I'll have to agree with you there. there have been other good female protagonists in disney films before, but the police officer angle was really interesting and she was the perfect balance between naïve, friendly, relatable, smart and enthusiastic. The only other disney female that stands out quite so strongly for me is Lilo because of just how well-written a kid character she is.

Sure it is, but it would be amplified if you were an animal in Zootopia and it was with your literal predator / prey.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that's probably a big reason why the most popular anthropomorphic animals are predators. They've got sharp teeth and a predatory instinct that we associate with something fierce and exciting.
>>
>>81437767

Is Lilo and Stitch the most depressing Disney movie? I mean, yeah, it all pays off emotionally in the end but for the first hour it's basically nothing going right for this poor little broken family.

Aw. Nick is best man at Judy's wedding.
>>
>>81438031
There's enough difference between them that I think it's cute. Nick is a little older and therefore more jaded and cynical, whereas Judy is still young, optimistic and a bit naive, with the world not having had a chance to ruin her yet. She's exactly what Nick needs.

One thing I noticed (or at least I think it's what I saw) was hair on the floor when Judy resigns. I wasn't sure if that was just supposed to be a nod to animals shedding, or leftover wool from conversing with Doug & Co.

We also see nearly zero foxes during the movie. Like aside from Nick, Finnick, and Gideon, there literally isn't a single fox, even though I'm pretty sure we see multiple background animals for nearly every other animal. And we know there is a nocturnal district, so its likely that most Zootopian foxes are nocturnal animals, and Nick is something of an exception.
>>
>>81438207

yeah, I remember seeing one ram in a skull t shirt at a couple of locations. cool that they were always there.
