So what so does /co/ think about this movie? Also zootopia thread I guess.
I like it, it's cute and very well animated. The visuals are beautiful and there are a couple decently funny moments.
i haven't seen it yeti'm not man enough to go to the movies alone
Is there a another thread?
>>81144283I really like it. It's fun and has a nice positive message. That being said I have some questions:>What do carnivores eat>Are there sentient birds, fish, or reptiles?>What about bats and whales and other unusual mammals?>If they've never had a small police officer before then who polices the rodent district/other small animal areas?>What are the other 9 ecosystems besides desert, snow and jungle?
I'm wondering where the discussion. There usually more people in threads like this.
Posting a doodle.I got my Artbook finally too if some people want to see bad phone pics of that.
>>81144283Just posting best girl, dont mind me
>>81145193Fawful?
>>81145267Yes
The best film Disney has made in decades, probably ever.
>>81144704The preds eat bugs, and the occasional fish.I don't think anything is confirmed for things other than mammals, although I think someone, probably Byron, said he thought they lived on separate continents or something.Probably there, just not onscreen. We only saw Precinct 1, Judy's department, throughout the movie. It's very likely Rodents has it's own precinct, which is exclusively rodent.Nobody knows. That's part of the appeal, they left the door wide open for more worldbuilding in the dorm of a sequel/tv show.
>>81145520*Little Rodentia has it's own department, fuck this phone.
I want Nick to grab Judy's cheeks and stretch and squeeze them while he calls her a cutie patootie and she gets super flustered about it but doesn't try to fight it and ends up laughing and playing with his cheeks, too causing Nick to get embarrassed and start blushing when Judy calls him cute, too.
>>81145331>>81145193Is it just me or is Disney getting kind of lazy with it's bad guys?In their last few movies they don't reveal the "villain" until the final act, at which point the actual identity of the antagonist is pretty much irrelevant because they only are evil for long enough to be thwarted. At least with King Candy/Turbo they hint at it early on and he's actually kind of a terrifying villain once he is revealed. But like, Hands in Frozen i just arbitrarily evil all of the sudden, and same with Bellweather.
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?p=12011219&postcount=58
>>81145917Yeah it kind of sucks. I'd like the next villain to be known extremely early on but it's dealing with him is the problem.Like Al Capone.
>>81145776Those paws are wonderful
>>81145948I want to see that fat faggot be bullied to the point of tears.
>>81144704Okay, in order>Bugs, Fish, and Nuts I guess>There are clearly labeled Fish Markets in tundra town, so fish are out. As for Birds and Reptiles, the creators have hinted about them, but they could change their minds>I imagine the land mammals that Whales evolved into Whales, and Bats are nocturnal, and most of the movie takes place in the day>Probably the largest small rodents. Judy's precinct is one of many.>Sequel
Post smug.
>>81145917The movie was long enough.Too long to give this cinnamon roll better development. She was no bullshit though, didnt even monologue until Nick was shot.
>>81146100*The land mammals that evolved into whales never took to the sea.Don't know how I fucked up that sentence.
Can ayone post good actual sound quotes from the movie?
>>81146310
I am the #1 Nick fan
>>81145928I'd just loooove for a more subtle, more mature and "artsy" looking cover. It's one of the best Disney movies and the cover is still "lots of funny animal characters lol"
>>81145948I think this might be one of the cutest pieces of fanart.
>>81144283Maybe I'm a huge sucker for cute anthropomorphic animals, but I liked the characters and their designs a lot, I thought the setting was interesting and lead to a lot of cool scenarios with all the different types of animals interracting and their different environments and it was beautifully animated with detail oozing out of everything.I'd love to see more done with the Zootopia setting, especially if it were just showing different stories in Zootopia and not necessarily following Nick and Judy all the time. If anything, I'd just want to see what Finnick gets up to.
>>81146838>morbidly obese child>cute
>>81144283Just saw it tonightThat the rabbit was CUTE
Like half my /co/ folder is NickxJudy now. I have a problem.
>>81144283Cute. Every character except Gazelle maybe had enough personality and time to be lovable. Also basically was just "references" the movie with furries.
>>81146310Zootopia Animal Crossing mods when?
>>81146694I would love to see a more minimalistic steelbook thing. Though I suppose I could just make one of those myself.

>>81147430Uhh, I remember seeing in a promotional poster a rodent officer? They probably have their own precinct office in Rodentia.

>>81147563They'll call it 2topia where a second Zootopia style city is being built with Nick and Judy being the new co-police chiefs.

>>81146659>>81145193
>>81145917They did in big hero 6 too but there they kinda tried to push that it was some other guy. It's kinda lazy but I think that taken alone it was not a bad choice cause it allowed more focus on our protagonists. Having a straight up villian like Vader would also detract from the police aspect, uncovering a plot that goes all the way to the top is pretty normal in stories about government corruption and its not supposed to be someone you expect.

>>81149723You aren't even trying anymore
>>81149249Not him but I do see what you're saying. Still, what that guy says has a lot of merit. Would Nick and Judy try to find someone better? I could see them maybe dating someone else because they haven't realized what they have right in front of them, but only if they realized it after the fact. Like Judy or Nick go out on a bunch of dates and they come to work bummed that it went shitty again, for the other to say they should just have dinner some time together and then go from there. I mean they could never touch on it at all too but I think that'd be wasting such great chemistry. I know people toss out the word a lot but it's fitting and completely valid. Judy straight up cried when she was apologizing and got to the part where she tells Nick he can walk away. Nick was clearly upset over what Judy did, because someone had actually trusted and given him a chance. If they squander it and either never bring it up or pair them with just a female fox or male bunny, it'll feel completely against the message of the first movie. The first didn't bring romance in, but it did show how close they are which is quite a lot. They pulled enough strings to get Nick on the force as her partner, which with all they did isn't surprising. I just want a wedding between them both. Nick in a dapper suit and Judy in a gorgeous dress. Granted I'd want the next movie to have as just a good a story with the same balance of maturity and fun, but such a wedding would make the sequel for me.Posted this in the thread that's about to be pruned so figured I'd put it here.
>>81150029I know that. Doesn't make her existence any less superfluous
>>81149268One of the directors said that this is possibly one of the best scenes in animated film history and I have to agree. The way Judy is animated and the way her lines are delivered makes for a completely believable scene with heart that's lost on most animations.

But I don't want 4D. It's that gimmicky thing that shakes the chair at you. Just a big 3D screen shall suffice.
>>81149268I know it was a tool to get the ending right, but it was sweet he kept her pen even though he was so angry. Like he knew what she said wasn't meant in a malicious way. Judy starts getting emotional when she says Nick can walk away, not when she says he can hate her. The thought of him not being there again ever hurt her more than him hating her. I know they didn't intend for there to be romance in the film which was good, but these sorts of scenes just scream that there's something more to them than just best friends.

>>81150503>>81150549Technically yes.Plato's philosophy centered on the idea that the objects we see in the material world are sort of like shadows being cast by immaterial perfect true forms on another plane of existence."Platonic love" is love that inspires the mind and soul towards spiritual/immaterial pursuits, with the implication that carnal/material pursuits are rejected in the process. One might also say that a platonic relationship is one that exists in perfect, ideal form in the Realm of Forms, but is a mere shadow of its true self in the material world. So it's definitely deeper than mere friendship, but there's nothing sexual/romantic/erotic going on.

>>81151302>pure methaphysics, no logic, no tangible stuffWell that's almost equally tragic.Philosophy needs to hit the whole package. Without metaphysics, you never get to really strenuously exercise logic and see what it can really do. It's like having a nice car and never driving it past the corner store. Without logic, metaphysics is basically just a bizarre form of religion, since you'll never be taught how to critically examine the ideas you're dealing with and really pick them apart properly. And without some philosophy of science work or some in-depth ethics/morality study, you'll never get to see where philosophy connects to the real world, and it just looks like some weird thing that never leaves the classroom.

CUTE
>>81151366INTERSPECIES RELATIONSHIPS ARE UNNATURAL AND ARE GONNA DESTROY THIS FAIR CITY BAH GAWD!!!!1Seriously, I not only hope they get together in the next movie, but that it's used as a major plot point. After all, Judy's famous, even if she didn't become ZPD's poster girl. Hooking up with a predator, especially after her very public statements in the film, would be scrutinized. Also, I hope that while their relationship is denounced as unnatural etc., gay couples are perfectly all right. Hell, have an openly gay pastor and his husband denounce them for extra irony.
>>81151456lack of more finnick & nick development
>>81151543>Openly gay>In a Disney movie.Lets see how georgia plays out. >Possible Inter species equates to homosexual.
>>81151543As funny as that would be, the directors have confirmed that interspecies couples are a thing.
I would love the next movie to be a prequel set in noir blacksad-esque inspired by original draft. They could make government-sanctioned prejudice the main plotpoint of the movie (McCarthyism?) and make movie less about race and more about political views. The pre-internet era artwork was full of amazing ideas and imagery. Also more foxes and wolves in trenchcoats.Won't happen, but I really like that idea.

>>81151634Oh. Well then.
How did Timberwolves manage to overcome their instinct to feed on prey animals and yet fail to overcome their instinct to howl en masse?
>>81151543That's a plot point I hope they use. Interspecies is likely looked at like interacial is to us. It wouldn't have to be the center plot point, but still an important one. Maybe they get so much flack that Nick or Judy break down saying the other shouldn't have to be put through all the harassment, for the other to tell them they'd feel worse without them in their life? Obviously written better, but it's one of several ways to take it. I really like that they didn't shove romance in. It let them open up and get really close. It gave them reason to want to get closer. Unlike a lot of marriages they would be getting together because of an actual emotional bond where they learned they've got a lot in common. It's why I give a damn about them hopefully pairing them up in a sequel because I don't think I've seen a more believable potential couple than these two.
>>81151499Yup, that totally sucked.>>81151611I totally expected those two to be expanded upon too.>>81151456I didn't like how Judy was immediately established with the trait of never giving up, but since it's a buddy duo movie the inevitable happens in the third act. Judy and Nick have conflict and Judy gives up to follow the cliche as fuck buddy movie plot element of giving up and returning home and redeeming herself. Really fuck that

It was a fun movie. The city itself was always a joy to look at in every scene, the main characters are great, and it was an all around fun well paced adventure. My only gripe is that while the idea of talking about racism was a good idea on paper, the movie came off too hammy whenever it tried. Having way over the top moments of "no one says that..." and almost literally having hitler as their main villain going way off the deep end with her final speech.
The first time I saw Zootopia, about half the time I was thinking about how this movie is basically L.A. Noire meets Aviary Attorney.

>>81152204Getting a blu-ray drive just means you'll have to get blu-ray software for your computer. It can be expensive and it's clumsy to use on a PC anyway.Get a PS3. Sony makes the Blu-Ray format, that's why the PS3 and PS4 play Blu-Rays natively while the 360 doesn't and the XBox One needs an app to do it. In America, anyone who owns a car is legally required to have liability insurance, because if you didn't and you couldn't pay the damages you'd probably wind up homeless or something and be totally fucked AND the other person's shit would never get fixed. Of course, since you've now proven you're the sort of person who sometimes gets into a collision, the insurance company will jack your rates up like a motherfucker, so you might be fucked anyway, but at least the other person's shit gets fixed.Collision insurance covers any damage to YOUR car from a collision, even if it's your fault. It's a lot more expensive than liability insurance, but it's great if you can afford it.Comprehensive insurance covers any damage to your car NOT from a collision. It's a lot more expensive AND a lot less useful.

I get an oil change 2-3 times a year depending on how much I drive. I rarely have to take it in for service, but when I do it's usually only a couple hundred bucks like tires, brakes, and such. But anyway, yeah owning a car definitely costs money, but it's convenience is what you're paying for. Also where I live in California, you're not getting anywhere quickly with public transportation unless you live near a train station. >>81152903The city was on the line. Innocent predators were getting blamed for something not their fault, other innocent predators were being driven crazy by a drug, and other innocents were being mauled by those crazed predators. She didn't have time to fuck around. And most importantly: she wasn't a cop anymore.
>>81152903Judy is a pragmatist. How is that hard to see? She needed info at that very moment to save her civilization. To do otherwise would be catastrophic
>>81152928She's a loose cannon I tell ya!
>>81152928>>81152903>>81152874Not to mention that through the entire movie she basically blackmails Nick into helping her.Every time he's kept his end of the bargain she demands more from him.I mean, eventually they go through enough and earn each other's respect so the whole blackmail thing becomes unnecessary but she still forced him to help her.
>>81152868>iMAXNice.Wait.>Practically empty>Furries locatedIm confused>>81152869>Almost everyone I know IRL>Is AussieAre you an aussie?>>81152874>>81152903Could she be Chaotic Good?
>>81152869>Seems like just a giant money sinkholeIf you're in a big metropolitan city with strong public transit like New York, LA, or San Francisco, it absolutely is. There's just no point unless you need a car for work.Anywhere else, you start to feel really really limited if you don't have your own set of wheels. A bike can do the job if you don't need to go far for anything, but then you have big cities like San Diego that were designed by absolute morons and have public transit systems made of fail and AIDS where getting around is a huge pain in the ass if you don't have a ride of your own.And don't even get me started on suburban areas, where conspicuous consumption is practically mandatory. Wealthy suburbs pretty much demand that you have a car or find somewhere else to live.
>>81152946Holy shit we need a picture of Judy and Nick as if they are the main characters in Lethal Weapon.
>>81152957Sorry.Furries were only present the second time I went.
>>81152952Judy became a cop because she wanted to help people, not uphold the law or anything like that. Which is good because the other way gets really annoying and usually makes a character have to be stupid to have it work.
>>81152869MAYBE PEOPLE YOU KNOW ARE AUSSIES BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN FUCKING AUSTRALIA
>>81152903She wasn't a cop at the time.
>>81152960Riggs and Murtaugh. It would be great to get a drawfag in on this.
>>81152978
>>81152928>>81152952So tell me how they will handle her as a police officer being in cahoots with the mob? Remember she's the supposed role model character of the movie.
>>81152997>>81152960I'm really surprised we don't have this yet. It just seems so obvious.
>>81152698
>Did you just boot my stroller?I thought that was the absolute funniest moment in the entire movie.
>>81152971Ah makes sense>>81152978BRILLIANT!
>>81153003>supposed role model>starts a race warThis movie had great characters, but I wouldn't say it had ANY role models.
>>81153003>So tell me how they will handle her as a police officer being in cahoots with the mob?Same in real life, nonny. No one really cares unless people get careless.>>81153007I know, right? It makes perfect sense. I just dont know any drawfriends.
>>81152958Ehhh, LA it's better to have a car too. The city is really spread out and you're likely not going to live near work.
>>81153003Simple. She doesn't do dealings with Mr. Big very often. He doesn't do any overt crime that involves civilians, she doesn't go looking too hard at his operations. They keep that peace, and he occasionally helps his granddaughter's godmother out on investigations. It's a fairly normal thing for cops to have contacts with the levelheaded crime bosses. They can't do anything to them without a warrant or probable cause, and the info they can give outweighs making the trouble.

>>81144283It's a 3/10 for me.It is just a shitty leftist propaganda that has nice visuals. The best character is ironically the least developed one.
>>81153045I hate myself for agreeing with you.

>>81153089You're that butthurt Trumpposter, aren't you?
>>81153124>>81153129I'd actually like to hear how it's Pol?
>>81153124how? Nick should have been the main character
>>81153129Is he doing a chesire cat pose for a moment there?
>>81153129I wanna cuddle with Bellwether in the happening bunker!
>>81153146>everyone is has some prejudice>just because you suffer prejudice does not mean you can't be just as prejudiced yourself>inflicting prejudice on a group as "revenge" for prior prejudice is not acceptableIt's one of the most even-handed Disney movies put out in the past 20 years. Anyone trying to say it takes a particular slant is a moron.
>>81153207I still don't see how it "btfo sjw's".
>>81153207>Don't let someone else's prejudice define youIt was pretty good with it, really.
>>81153230They typically insist that prejudice directed one particular way is not only not bad, but a good thing. And that people who have been the targets of racism can't be racist back.
>>81153230It is when you look at what that guy just posted. He said,>inflicting prejudice on a group as "revenge" for prior prejudice is not acceptableYou know how amazing that is? Do you know the implications of that lesson? That is how it 'BTFO' SJWs.
>>81153207>>just because you suffer prejudice does not mean you can't be just as prejudiced yourself>mfw I realized that applies to Judy, Bellwether, AND Nick
>tfw hate remotely significant age gaps>but Judy and Nick are 2cute togetherNick seems too young to be 32, doesn't he?
>>81153254Isn't that obvious though? Do sjw think otherwise?>>81153247Are they really that dumb? Black people are the worst when it comes to their self-importance. I've talked to a guy who insisted that the message of the movie specifically applies to blacks and not any other minority
>>81153230Because it shits all over the stupid idea that racism is something only white people do to other races.Everyone in Zootopia can be the victim of prejudice and everyone in Zootopia can perpetrate it, and it's clearly bad regardless of who's the target. Bellwether's after some kind of social revenge shit where she feels like the predators have been pushing her and the rest of the prey animals around forever, and she's wrong for it.It's a movie that encourages letting go of all kinds of racial hatred while at the same time lobbing torpedoes at the critical race theory nonsense that's come to dominate the SJ left.
>>81153276Hi, welcome to 4chan!
>>81153276Yes, they are that dumb. What do you think is the biggest reason people think they're fucking retarded?
>>81153275>implying 32 is old in any way
>>81153282>racial hatredSpecies hatred. Not racial.
I don't like how people boil down the idea of the movie to a race thing when it can be applied to so many other aspects of life.

New thread when? I wanna post more pictures!
So I haven't seen the movie, is the prey vs. predators thing a big allegory on muslims in the western society and how we shouldn't let prejudice cloud our vision?
>>81153435>defining yourself by children>defining yourself with other people>defining yourself by what you do for money
>>81153455It's not a direct allegory for anything.
