What makes Zootopia just so good?
The world and likeable characters mixed with the cute moments minus the rushed parts.
Main characters are adultsNot held back by any source materialSolid writing built around the idea of sentient animals and not just jokes
All the animals were nice and funny to look at
>>81079050And this is why we can't have nice things
>>81078961Endless shipping potential
>>81079063Shipping is autism. I just want to see them fuck.
>>81078961where can I find more unfinished/scrapped renders?
Honestly, I think the world was a large part of it. The train scene at the beginning was amazing.
>>81079085My option is not there so nope.
Nick and Judy.Seriously. That's what does it for me 100%. Yeah there's lots of other awesome stuff that makes it good, but really these two just make the film for me.Also they're cute. Also how the'yre totally into each other by the end of the movie. Also they need to kiss.
>>81079111Enlighten me then, what's your opinion?
>>81078961>disney magic injecting as much cute into each character as physically possible>fantastic worldbuilding>broad overarching message that gets it's point across>cute as fuck dynamic duo with great character interactionsand like a billion other things
I could play with Nick's paws for an entire day
>>81079127I cant really say the whole thing because, well, id rather not get banned, but it has something to do with paws.
>>81079117>They need to kissAnon, they need to do a lot more than that.
>>81079165Sounds like you have some good taste there, even without knowing your opinion.
>>81079199pretty sure largomorph ears are relevant to body temperatures
>>81079165So it's a sexual thing?
Help a dude out here, is there a way I can watch this in HD or non shit cam quality yet?
>>81079098Mostly the artbook, but people have uploaded a fair amount of it online.
>>81078961>goodI'm not a furry or a Shipperfag
>>81079215Not yet. The only one out there is that really bad cam rip.
>>81079212It is something that is kind of hard to understand if you dont know the culture. So it is both yes AND no, so it doesnt fit easily into the poll.
>>81078961they built the city first. It's not the story of Judy or Nick. It's about their place in a larger system. The city itself is an incredibly strong character in the movie. It's open for a million stories to come forth. The main tale of the two MC's is one thing, but there's a reason it's not called like The Bunny's Tale or some stupid shit like that. It's because they really focused on a theme and a message and built everything around that.Everything in the movie draws back to the central theme. The buildings for creatures all sizes, the animals all cohabiting in the city, the design of the fucking roads even. They built a believable world which resonates so strongly with viewers that while they were busy being distracted by how CUTE! the bunny is, they never realised they were soaking in the city.Seriously. Name a movie with better worldbuilding from the past 10 years. You can't.
>>81079215Not that I've found. All the cam rips are terrible.
>>81079215Going to your local movie theater.
>>81079215Go to the movies
>>81079167All starts with a gentle loving kiss, and then it goes from there. I'm waiting for that moment so badly
>>81079246>>81079235Fack I'm not made of money so I can't exactly go to theater for it again.>>81079260>>81079254Already saw it in theaters. Want to watch it multiple times man. >Feels bad
>>81079242don't get me wrong, you're absolutely right, and I just got back from the move an hour ago and loved it>Name a movie with better worldbuilding from the past 10 yearsI gotta say avatar, the story was mediocre but the world was exceptional
>>81079215Google removed all links to full movie. Your only hopes are in theatre or a download of cam quality on pirate bay. There are actually really good cam rips out there. I watched a few with skype friends.
>>81079294>AvatarNice bait you've got there.
>>81079303I'm really not trying to b8, I know /co/'s opinion on this, but watch it again and just focus on the environment
nick is too cute can't stop thinking about him
Milks that sense of "childish wonder at fully realized setting" angle hard.
>Love watching this with a crowd at the theatre for group laughs and cheers>Absolutely fucking hate little shit kids yelling half the timeFuck can't we just have an 18+ only screening of the film once per day in theatres as a set rule? this movie is way too adult for little kids anyway man, they don't understand the concept of PURE LOVE.But really loud kids are fucking annoying.
>>81079317>>81079303Except he's right, faggot. The world of Pandora is pretty cool.
>>81079313>Going to a movie with children>>81079298Any links to said good cam rip?(Or is it against the rules been a while)
>>81078961Good writing, good worldbuilding, a likeable cast of characters, excellent animation, and good VA casting.
>>81079167That's why we need a sequel. Nick and Judy were both still growing as characters, and the movie made a point to show us how close they were growing. We need more.
>>81079365Was there ever a Disney movie with bad VA casting? They put a colossal amount of care in both the casting and direction, moreso than most animation companies.
>>81079339I just went for the third time tonight. As soon as I heard there was a kid behind us that was talking through everything, we moved down a couple rows. He never stopped the whole time, it wasn't too much of a bother from the new position but I couldn't ignore it 100%. Wasn't a problem my first two viewings, though.
>>81079363Don't they have evening/midnight screenings of the movie?
>>81078961cyoot bunny, smug fox, incredible setting>>81079339>Fuck can't we just have an 18+ only screening of the film once per day in theatres as a set rule?go to an afternoon screening on a weekday during school hours, or go to a 10:00 showing>>81079359nick is into rabbitholding
>>81079389that's a big rear
+Main characters were generally likable+Solid buddy cop film in an age that's oddly lacking those+Good jokes mixed with a nice sense of adventure and exploration of a lively world-Overly hammy racial themes take a good premise for a lesson and boil it down to the "bully who steals lunch money" level of subtletyThat one flaw is a major thing that infects a lot of parts of the movie. Still great, but held back from being considered for any top lists.
>>81079359I imagine more into swinging. I can picture him wanting to hit every kind of pussy in the city
>>81079362The world is a giant rain space rain forest. We find nothing of it's functions, fauna, or anything really unique to pandora. What is interesting is the culture of the alien life that's there, which again isn't very unique as it's ripped straight from tribes from our history.>unobtainiumfucking lel.
>>81079063I can't help myself but the scenes with Bogo and Clawhauser had this "oh you secretly dig this too" closet undertone to them and they just look cute together and fuck just shoot me already
>>81079389I like dat booty
>>81079284I know that feeling. I've considered going a 4th time but then either my stomach starts growling and I go buy food, I get distracted by merch on my Amazon wishlist, or I think to myself "I should just save that money and spend it on the Blu-Ray."Waiting is so damn hard though. We still don't even have a good camrip. I've seen webms and stuff from the best camrip we currently have and it looks and sounds like shit.
>>810793899/11 will never forget this quality
I'd dig to see the universe expanded more. The setup with Nick/Judy cop duo would be perfect for a weekly toon.
>>81079408>Solid buddy cop film in an age that's oddly lacking thosebuddy cop films or solid buddy cop films?
>>81079432Like some other anon said, a weekly toon with Nick and Judy, and sequel movies about completely other characters, possibly with cameos from Nick/Judy/othersI'd be worried that the toon wouldnt look nearly as good though.
>>81079393Nah, >Just left a 1030 Batman>THERE WAS A FUCKING BABY>>81079424DVD comes summer. (3-6 months after it's stopped being shown en masse) >4th time>Seeing any movie more than twice in theater.
>>81079424People still buy home video???
>all those bunny sex jokes>ye olde godfather parody>all the drama in generalWas relieved to see all that, worried it was a movie aimed for kids.
>>81079412>We find nothing of it's functions, fauna, or anything really unique to pandora.watch it again, you're just wrong about this>unobtainiumterm used for unnamed elements I believe (not that there are any undiscovered elements that will exist in nature, so it's still ridiculous)
>>81079317>>81079362The visuals look nice but that's really all the movie has for it. We're talking about worldbuilding not how pretty the visuals are.If you want to understand worldbuilding look at Harry Potter. There are so many random little details that have been explained just so we as the viewers can get an insight and understanding of their world. Avatar comes nowhere near in explaining the details and instead throws pretty looking visuals up on the screen to distract you from how bad the plot is. Zootopia on the other hand has tons of details everywhere. Tiny trashcans for the rodents, they show how smaller animals can interact with the bigger ones, cars designed specifically around each mammal type, districts designed for the type of animals that would live there, etc. I could go on for a very long time.Avatar has very little worldbuilding. Pretty visuals; little to no substance.
>>81079294>>81079303>>81079317>>81079362Anon who made that post, I totally forgot about Avatar, sorry guys. I've not seen it, but okay! Maybe the last 7 years then? What I mean to say is the worldbuilding in Zootopia is exceptional, we hardly ever get movies with that much effort gone into their worldbuilding crafft. And it really shows, look how much money both those films made/are making.I really hope this begins a trend of focus on quality and effort, I don't want to see any more unfocused messes like the good dinosaur Pick a theme, pick a message, stick to it, drive it home and make it fucking count. Zootopia was an excellent example of how the entire movie works because they had a unified vision.
>>81079339I got to see it with both a crowded theater and with an empty theater. Both are great for different reasons. With a crowded theater there's this dynamic energy in the room, and you really get to feed off of the audience's reactions to all the different emotions that the movie throws at you. With an empty theater, you get more of a chance to just sit there and contemplate your own personal reactions to every scene. I noticed little things in the empty theater that I hadn't really picked up on when I was watching it with friends in the crowded theater. I was more "in" the movie than when I saw it with the crowd.
What's the ETA on a home video release?
>>81078961Where the hell is this scene from? Is it in a trailer? A deleted scene that was leaked?I need to know!
>>81079494Early render test from when the plot still had the collars
>>81079482>>>81079457(3-6 Months after being taken out of theaters) Figure summer
>>81079488Your voice compares to the sweetness of an ever-flowing river of chocolate milk
>>81079488SMELLWETHER! I TOLD YOU CLEAR MY AFTERNOONS!
>>81079494Animation from the old plot
>>81079515Im wondering if there is an actual video or something better than a .gif of it.
Friendly reminder that if you want a weekly TV series you are BAD and should feel BAD. The budget would be shit and it won't look and feel like the movie at all, it'd be fucking trash. They'd rape the characters with shit storylines and crappy characterization for the sake of fitting a 22 minute run time. Just no.>b..but <name> was a good tv seriesNo.Just wait for that sequel, man. Or maybe they'll do some nice canon stuff in between, like a novel or some shit
>>81079434I suppose solid ones? I dunno, last one I saw that even remotely qualified was Dredd, and that's pretty far from the topic.
>>81079560I had some concerns about this too, regarding a cheaper budget tv show
Reminder that the smug fox is perfect in every way.
>>81079384Miley Cyrus in Bolt was kind of a stupid choice and it's pretty obvious why they chose her. She wasn't bad in the role, but she was clearly only in the movie because she was one of Disney's big brands at the time. While Sarah Silverman's performance in Wreck-it Ralph was fine I have a really hard time separating her work from her person. I can't go through that movie without several times thinking about how great it would feel to punch Sarah Silverman in the face.
>>81079560What if we got full budget Zootopia shorts before other Disney CG films? I'd go savave for that.
>>81079472>term used for unnamed elements I believeYou believe wrong. Unobtainium is literally TVtropes speak for a Macguffin mineral.
>>81079582How is he hiding behind that beam? Why is he naked? I need answers, Anon!
If they did it 2d, it would be fine. Of course they can't run 3d and reach anywhere near the level they did for the movies, but a fitting 2d style would circumvent that and allow them to still show a fairly lively city.
>>81079461They still sell it so obviously people are buying it.
I wonder if they'll try to shove Zootopia characters in as a summon for KH3 like they did with Chicken Little for 2.
>>81079603As long as we get Nick+Judy shipping in the shorts then please so much yes.
>>81079622Meant for >>81079560 obviously.
>>81079560I just want a short where Nick and Judy are on their day off and the rest of the ZPD try and make sure whatever they have planned for their day off goes according to plan. Shenanigans ensue.
>>81079626Not gonna lie, I thought buying home DVDs and Blu-rays was silly until I've copped some cheap Blu-ray box sets not a while ago. Now I fear it's going to die eventually because home video can't even compete with streaming services.
>>81079621You gotta tell me how this bird is hiding behind this beam.
>>81078961>have an opinion >ask strangers to explain itHow did this become a meme?
>>8107957421(and 22) Jump Street, 2 Guns, and The Other Guys are some buddy-cop movies all released within the past 5 years.it's not a lot, but I guess so many were released in the 80s that to out-do the classics is something difficult to do. I think most producers think, "is this better or as good as the old classics?" and probably make their next move from there.
>>81079657Why is the bird naked?
>>81079451The audience would be disappointed if Nick and Judy aren't the main characters. Even though the world is big enough that you can make it be about entirely new main characters, why would they? There's still plenty of story left to tell about Nick and Judy, and Zootopia was really their story. It wouldn't feel like a real sequel if they weren't front and center again-- it'd feel like one of those sequels where they couldn't get the main actors back and no-one likes it as much as the original.I think a TV show would be a great idea but it should be there to bridge the gap between the first and second movie, not as a replacement for a second movie about Nick and Judy. If they wanted to do something with different characters, maybe they can make a series of shorts set in Zootopia and release it on home video as a special.
>>81078961You can practically hear the sigh of ecstasy in that clip.
>>81079627Probably too late for KH3>>81079657>Packers>STILL LAUGHING
>>81079701THERE'S A SOUND VERSION?PLEASE
>>81079655Either 4k is going to kill streaming or streaming is goign to kill 4k, because we currently don't have the bandwidth for streaming to be an effective means for delivering 4k movies.
>>81079712There actually is but i cant link it due to the site in question.
>>81079702>too late for KH3KH3 is probably coming out mid 2018. If we're lucky.
>>81079702Thank god I'm a broncos fan.
>>81079699That works tooHonestly it'd be a feat to make two likeable main characters with that much chemistry againI just want more of this universe and more waifu material
>>81079726fuck, give me a hint and some key-words, meng, i need this
What if Zoo2 had a "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" type segment?
>>81079630Fucking this. I don't even care anymore where it comes from. This ship practically sails itself and we need more, the movie left it so close to getting there and never reached it. Hell I even look forward to more teasing by keeping up with rich and byron's twitters. Even though Byron is (was?) seemingly pulling away from the idea while Rich has been onboard with this shit since day 1.Then again Byron's tweet was from like a 6 months ago.. These btw:https://twitter.com/byronphoward/status/656595333791682560https://twitter.com/_rich_moore/status/705816425378676736
>>81079472Unobtanium is a slang term for materials in science fiction that can break the known laws of physics. James Cameron used it unironically in Avatar and most people were too dumb to realize how silly it sounds. If you're familiar with the term, it sounds like the characters are saying "magic space metal" every time they say "unobtanium."
>>81079717I don't see why they both cant co-existBlu Rays just become DVD, and 4K BD replaces BDDVDs are replaced by digital/ streamingEverybody wins

>>81079833I think we're talking about two different games. I mean Birds over Porkers. But if you wanna talk about that other game...
Why didn't they use the desert area?
>>81079844>>81079848>>81079748>Implying it wouldn't be them sitting alone in an apartment or in the police car and Judy turns on the radio only for love songs to play on every station
>>810797854K is actually going to be an extension of Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray discs themselves are expandable and very versatile, so it will be like buying a 3D blu-ray where you'll get both the 1080p and 4k versions in the same box.4K and streaming will co-exist, but 4K is going to keep physical media relevant for a bit longer that it might otherwise have lasted. It should also be taken into consideration that much of the world still does not have access to high speed internet. That's not to say they're using dial-up, but it's still way too slow for 4k streaming or even 1080p.For me, it's a matter of the shelf. I like my shelf, and that's where my favorite movies get to stay. If streaming takes over then maybe I'll get another few square feet of wall in my living room, but I will miss my shelf and the special place that all the movies on it have earned.
>>81079891Not subtle enough. Soccermoms would catch on. Besides, an entire minute of the two of them sitting in a car would be boring for little kids. It has to be outside, with lots of running around and holding hands with Judy being as cute as possible.
>>81079242>they built the city first.>It's not the story of Judy or Nick. It's about their place in a larger system. The city itself is an incredibly strong character in the movie. It's open for a million stories to come forth.>The main tale of the two MC's is one thing, but there's a reason it's not called like The Bunny's Tale or some stupid shit like that. It's because they really focused on a theme and a message and built everything around that.I agree that they did a tremendous job of workbuilding an interesting world, but you got your production a bit jumbled.First it was Savage Seas. A story about Nick as a spy and Judy as some kind of sailor. Then it was "Zoodystopia" with the shock collars. But it wasn't until they showed the Zoodystopia animation in-house that they decided it was necessary to make the city a place that one would actually want to save. And the more positive outlook is also why Judy became the lead character and Nick her partner rather than other way around.
>>81079828>whole comic is just talking>no physical contact or even eye contact between Nick and JudyWell that was a waste of time and art.

Jason Bateman is a great actor and VA. Had a great performance as Nick, fit the character perfectly
>>81079969Soon enough, all the other studios will make their own Zootopia. Just watch
Ok, going to get some sleep. Have a good one.
>>81080017I hear Jason Bateman is a very charming man.
>>81080017Has he ever made a good movie? He's much more praised by Arrested Development more than anything.
>>81079969God I hope not. That is the last thing we need.Plus, I know this movie is super popular, but I am pretty sure everyone wont look at it like you guys do.
So who's going to watch all those little funnies and boxes while their parents are out making the world a better place? All the other people they know that would make good babysitters are either in Bunnyburrow or are working with them. Finnick could be a fun (if troublesome) uncle but probably has his own shit to attend to.

>>81080368It's not that camerawork's impossible, just really costly and takes considerably technically skill. Hell, back in the day, just rotating Pinocchio 360 degrees in one smooth motion was considered to be a very impressive feat.I think both 3D and 2D animation have their merits, and I wish Disney wouldn't consider 2D animation to be a secondary thing.
>>81080304>I'm not a furry but I want these two to fuck each otherI have some bad news for you.
>>81080368You could do it in 2D, it's just a pain in the ass. Fact is, 3D is cheaper.
>>81080338So does your mom. She got fucked by me, after all.
>>81078961What's the context here? Why does he have a black eye and looking distressed and why does he act like he's never been rubbed like that before?
>>81080388>>81080368>>81080349Who cares? Zootopia was made as a 3D film, switching it to 2D animation would be weird/jarring as fucking shit and just not right. It's already gorgeous and yeah 2D can look nice but Zootopia has already established itself to look amazing as is, no need to screw with a winning formula
>>81080388Also, I know the film was never properly finished (as of Richard William's vision), but lots of finished parts were that impressive.
>>81080393No it's normal for anyone who watched the movie.
>>81080326With the amount of detail in the city?Nah. Classic animation works well with lil villages and forests and whatnot, an urban environment does not allow for the kind of artstyle disney should want to use. Why do you think anime looks so stiff? It's not just the shotty animation. That and the visual appeal hangs p heavily on le fur script Just as how frozen relied on its sparkles to look appealing to its demographic.
>>81080393Not that guy, but why is it being a furry to ship two characters. He'd be a furry if he posted>I'm not a furry, but I want to SEE these two fuck each other
>>81080388The reason The Thief & The Cobbler turned out to be the mess it was was because Williams was insanely meticulous and spent a shitload of time and money on the project. It took fucking twenty years, and even then, it was incomplete. That kind of insanely smooth and detailed 2D animation just isn't cost-efficient.
Im so tired, but i must post.Send halp pls

>>81080439I'm just glad there was a good amount of rhinos in the film.I love rhinos, and still have my rhino plush from when I was like, 7 or 8 on my dresser.
>>81080408In the original concept for Zootopia, all predators wore shock collars and were treated as second-class citizens. Judy was a racist cop who initially believes that all predators are bad news, but slowly warms up to Nick over the course of the story to the point of removing his shock collar for him.The idea was scrapped because the story called for Nick to reform Zootopia, but no one could understand why he'd even want to in the first place, since he'd have been better off leaving such a hellhole.

>>81080057 God the Rachet and Clank trailer looked so fucking shit. I pray so hard Sly is good, or at least above average, keeping the VAs from the games is a good sign at least.
>>81080460>The idea was scrapped because the story called for Nick to reform Zootopia, but no one could understand why he'd even want to in the first place, since he'd have been better off leaving such a hellhole. Also because they wanted to make social commentary but no audience could relate to such a weird dystopia (except maybe in North Korea).

>>81080480READ THE THREAD.
>>81080479You should of have been here earlier, spoeple talked a whole lot about the original concept of Zootopia and even some wanted that instead of what we got, or are hoping for more of that scrapped concept. Also, Nick builds an illegal, hidden amusement park for predators to have fun.
>>81080319>Shirtless Nick with just a coat.Shirtless Nick should be illegal. It's doing things to me and I don't like it.
>>81079556Would you rather lick a pawpsicle or Nick's actual paws?
>>81080480>>>81080478>>81080543That comic? Or was that part of the actual story?
>>81080326It would be a completely different movie, you simply can't 2d animate on that scale and with that amount of detail without employing the entire population of Korea, it doesn't make financial sense anymore. 2d animation still has a nostalgic place in my heart but 3d has so many benefits that it is obviously the way forward.I dream of a future where computers are powerful enough to render these movies in realtime and you can interact with them, imagine a VR movie where the storyline dynamically branches depending on your observations and you can move the camera around as you want, getting right up to the characters!
>>81080543The core problem of the original concept is why would predators live in Zootopia?
>>81078961>a whole universe made specifically to pander to furriesWait, that doesn't sound good..
>>81080568It was considered too depressing.
>no reptiles, amphibians, birds, sealife or bugs
>>81080581The universe was made with the idea of telling a story about racism without having to offend anyone for picking on their race.
>>81080585Just as it should be
>>81080568It looks like they had a pretty lengthy script, but they just couldn't come up for a logical reason for the protagonist's actions. No one could comprehend why Nick would want to reform a shithole like Zootopia, since pretty much everyone considered the entire city to be a lost cause. It might have been considered to be too cynical an end for the hero to up and give up on everything and run away at the end. Also, as another anon said, no one could relate to such a weird dystopian setting, and it's hard to deliver a message if no one can relate to the story.

>>81079916Blu-Ray is ownership, and streaming is enhanced renting. Corporations hate ownership.
All the things said like likable characters, great world design, and even good reason for why we're using anthromorphic characters as well. But one thing I gotta give props to though that's maybe not given as much attention is the overall screenplay is really tight. Like, every scene and shot served a purpose and continuity in particular is great, right down to that note on Bellweather's desk with Doug's phone number.Like, it's just a really tightly written solid movie imo. Nothing wasted.

>>81080646I think the word you're looking for is organic.Everything feels lived in and natural. Partly why it's fun is because all these characters are normal, they just happen to be animals.Yeah, it's furry bait, but part of the appeal is seeing a real issue, even in a fantasy land of funny talking animals. Pride and predatorjudice, I guess.

So this comic was posted to Twitter back in February. On the one hand, I'm pretty sure I've never seen this one before, so it's new to me. On the other hand, what is this I don't even.
>>81080704>can only be the way mediaYes because that was totally my point. Certainly not that anybody can do/make things as they please for their own reasons, or interpreted differently by others. Also protip: black-and-white thinking like yours is often a legitimate symptom of autism.
I'm assuming BvS will be #1 this weekend in the USA, but I wonder if Zootopia will take the spot back next weekend when all the negative press starts affecting BvS? Going with a group of friends, I'm afraid I'm going to end up getting another ticket for Zootopia right after I get out of the theater for BvS.

>>81080769Free interpretation is a meme. When someone makes something they do so with a thought of what they're making. >>81080881Her clothing is stretchy. It needs to be in order to fit those bunny buns.
I'm ill and I can't sleep.
>>81080900You have the right to view the content on the disk, which is to say that owning the disk is owning the right to view the movie as many times as you want until you die or the disk does.
>>81080900Ownership of the disc means you can watch the movie as many times as you want forever. Is it really worth getting mad about semantics?
>>81080913Exactly.You are granted the right to watch the movie, and a disc to provide you with a means of doing so. You don't own the movie.
>>81080881Unless she puts it on like a coat.Look at the neckline; going fro her right shoulder to her left, the seam dips down into the vest when it hits her collarbone.More likely it's twopiece neoprene suit that she can tighten like Velcro, or a zipper. The only other two things we see her wear are a loose neck tee with that tank top, and a buttonup gingham.
>>81080894 Cute but really falls victim to 'trying to draw rubberhose without knowing the real conventions/reasoning of rubberhose'. I can understand the aesthetic decision of making Judy and Nick varying shades of gray, but animating that cell by cell in the 30s would be a suicide mission. Also the poses are kinda stiff, I feel action lines were used to some extent but not really understanding why they are there, like top left Judy's arms don't fit any structure and it would be her lower half bulging out given the typical toony rules of weight.
>>81080923No company can take it away from me at that point. I own it. That's where the line is drawn for online stuff, outside forces do have the right to take that away from you.
reminder to think before you post
>>81080832Erm, ok? Thanks bud?My point was simply people can do as they please (namely the media author, the people's reactions was an extra for clarification) whether or not any of them succeed at pleasuring you.
>>81080901>>81080934>>81080903Oh shit. I was right.>nick.png
>>81080923The point is having a disc means you can watch it any time any number of times, and the only thing that would stop you would be someone stealing or breaking the disc. Streaming service could stop showing you the movie any time for almost any reason, whether it's a technical breakdown somewhere in the system or a license expiring, taking down what was there before.
>>81080923no one really cares if they own the movie as long as they're able to watch it forever whenever they want.Same thing with owning games and music, DRM is cancer because it can prevent people from enjoying their content if some checksum goes awry.

>>81081023Blu-Ray discs are actually much more durable than DVD. Even with significant scratches they'll usually play due to the polymer that they're surfaced with, and said polymer is much more scratch resistant than DVD.I own about a hundred Blu-Ray movies and game discs, and many were purchased second-hand. Not a single one of my discs has a scratch on them.
It panders to furry inside us all.
>>81081094Blu-ray discs have an extra layer of polymer for protection. Naked blu-rays were much sensitive to scratches and smudges since the reflective layer is much closer to the bottom than CDs and DVDs.I think some DVDs have the extra layer too, not sure.

>>81080947As a mid tier artist, it makes me cringe so bad when I see shit tattoo jobs. In addition to poor execution, the concept and placement is also bad. So many things I should've done differently. Would have urged the guy to listen to me about placement and presence. A classy black and white, smaller, and more appealing full body Judy... more subtle placement and execution. I could've done so much better. I can get how the layman wont understand the value of contour and silhouette, but when the tattoo artist destroys a potentially nice tattoo by placing a huge backdrop behind a character.... it just baffles the fuck outta me.
