Is Zootopia really that good is it all just disney bias/hype?
>>80834633Zootopia is really that good, the bias would be against Disney considering shit like Frozen is what the money-maker is. It would've been easy for them to do another "it's a Princess Movie BUT WITH A TWIST", but they actually made a really fucking good Buddy-Cop Movie.
I've seen it twice and enjoyed it both times. "That" good? Depends on what your tastes are, I guess. The characters are likable, for the most part, the visuals are beautiful, and the story and its effect on the characters are enjoyable to watch.
>>80834633>is it all just disney bias/hype?Yes
Am I the only one that remembers when Frozen came out and there were multiple generals just like Zootopia? It's purely hype. Give it a few months and it'll die down it will be recognize at best as a good movie whole some anons outright hate it.
how does it rank compared to the best films of the 2010s
just furry hype
Furries are living in theaters right now keeping that movie going. It's not even about hype any more.
>>80838457>>80836060then why did any other furry movie in the last few years do it for them?
>>80834633>Furry anything>GoodThat does not add up
I thought the movie was fucking phenomenal. I went in knowing nothing about it and having never seen any pictures or trailers about it and walked out ready to watch it again. I almost feel like everything was done perfectly.- Judy's motivation and dedication to be a police officer, growing up on a farm and having had a run in with Gideon when she was younger makes her "racist" setting up for the press conference scene and for "profiling" Nick in the beginning.- Nick's reasons for tagging along with Judy starting with needing to get the incriminating recording erased, developing into genuinely wanting to help her. Or when talking to Judy about thinking anyone can he anything but ending up with nothing being a story very much about his experiences. Nick wanting to be a scout but not being able to because of discrimination and bullying, leading up to the conference scene but him eventually becoming a cop.- Nick and Judy's relationship wasn't forced and developed very naturally and made the audience end up very much rooting for them to be together at the end.- Bellwether constantly bullied by larger predators or larger animals, even pushed around and hidden away by mayor Lionheart which builds the motivation for her to plot against predators. Setting Judy up with the case and helping her find where Lionheart was hiding the animals were so that she could slide into the position of mayor. - The world building, everything seemed very real and from the information posted in these threads the animators put an incredible amount of effort into world building.Overall it wouldn't be an exaggeration for me to say this is one of the best movies I've seen in years. At the very least the best animated movie I've seen in years. I've watched it 4 times now.
Does anyone have any refs for drawing Finnick and the news reporter lady?

Its good but over rated, as expected with anything with an internet following. It's full of the forced-wonder that is in all 3D Disney films. It's only getting rave reviews because muh diversity and furries. In a month the film will be seen as it really is without the bias (by the whole of the fanbase, excluding autists).Definitely worth seeing, but it isnt a 10 like everyone claims to be. Its more of a 7.

Anyone got the lowdown? Any interesting answers?
>>80842936Nothing unsavory got mentioned. They did have a question about 'what's next for nick and judy's relationship, to which they basically said there's a couple of groups that have conflicting opinions they don't want to upset, but are most liekly going to eventually. It'll be up as a video soonish if you want to watch it.
>>80842936We didn't really get any interesting information. It was just crap like "what are your favorite movies", "how did you get to become directors", etc.The closest information to the movie that we got is that "whatever we do, people will be disappointed" in relation to whether or not Judy and Nick will be involved romantically with each other.
>>80834633I liked it

>>80842656I don't understand this meme
>>80842906
>>80843032It was literally just "There are two schools of thought and we're going to make one of them angry eventually."The one that really caught my interest was the question about Nick's mom.

>>80843134>it's the answer, not the question that was the problem!>>80843141There are a fucking lot where they don't.
>>80843130This isn't verbatim, but, someone asked "What about Nick's mom?">Well, we're spitballing here--this isn't officially canon, so don't get angry if the sequel says something different, like, "you said in that facebook Q&A he had a single mom, but now he has a dad!?"--but foxes are kinda solitary creatures, so it's probably just Nick and his mom. I kinda like the idea of Nick sort of taking on the mantle of the man of the house? Yeah, that sounds pretty nice.Something like that. So, single mom, probably on good terms with Nick still, unless otherwise stated later.
cant get enough nick art
>>80843130It was just a question on Nick's backstory. They made sure to clarify that their answer wasn't canon and then thought up an answer on the spot:Foxes are solitary animals, so it was just Nick and his mom growing up and eventually he grew up and took the role of being the man in the household. They didn't say anything on her current status.

Besides, the directors already confirmed in a separate interview that interspecies relationships could work in Zootopia. They even made a joke about hybrids ala "boxes and funnies," though I think that would be dumb. If Nick and Judy DO ever get together, they should just adopt.
>>80843768>implyingThey knew what they were doing. They want to make Nick and Judy getting together a satisfying culmination instead of just an expected plot point.
>>80843891>>80843901>>80843904B-but they held hands and said "I love you."!
>>80843917I always think that interspecies relationships could work like gay relationships and marriage.
i want a 2nd movie to end in a wedding scene
>>80843893That's another reason them getting together makes a lot of sense. It's like the finality of the predator and prey prejudice. Two characters both with their own view of the other animal type ending up in love.
>>80843942Disney logic: They are now married and having kids.
>>80842473Basically this. There are some good moments and jokes and the overall message is good and relatable, but it's clumsy and overbearing at times with jokes or scenes that drag on and the soundtrack was downright sad. 6/10 movie: worth watching, especially if you're into animation, so you shouldn't feel disinclined to see it, but I don't see it lingering longer than 1-3 months on here.

>>80843982I don't. I hate weddings. I'd rather have a possible romantic relationship between the two not that much in focus, as to where such scenes would take more then 5 minutes of screen time in total.

>>80844683No, it can't. It has story and dialogue and it's an original universe, which limits its worldwide appeal. It has been doing and will continue to do well, but it's not going to rake in billions.Which is fine. Zootopia is Disney's best 3D animated film so far, the others can't compare. Yeah it's super hyped and furry but it's honestly a 10/10 movie. The plot is engaging and not totally predictable like kid's films often are, and has depth to it that's relevant to issues in the world today but not in such an overbearing or condescending way.The animation and world is the most beautiful thing 3D Disney has produced so far. It's really just a great fun movie.

>>80848218guys, what if it is well written, but it is kind of boringBecause I think that's my problem
>>80848278That's probably a fair assumption.
>>80848052>>80848138>>80847989To be fair, he can be abrasive, self-assured, self-reliant, with a zero tolerance for your bullshit. Maybe abrasive, snarling, etc. But that's a front he puts up to protect himself literally and mentally. He could have a softer side to him that no one sees (maybe Nick though, just because they spend so much time together). A side that he's ashamed of because he wants to be distanced from the idea of him being small and cute, maybe because he was ridiculed as a little kit, etc. There would have to be something like that in his past to lead him to the same kind of road that Nick follows add in the idea that foxes are considered sneaky, etc. and being a tiny fox, he's not taken seriously. So he over compensates with stuff like the biting threat. Of course this is just the way I look at it.

>>80848328>He could have a softer side to him that no one seesHe would have a domestic side to him that few people see, but I don't necessarily think that translates into "softer". The thing about badasses is that eventually they have to go home, cook dinner, and do their laundry. Hard to be a badass when you're doing that. But I feel like the attitude that Finnick gives the world is his genuine attitude. He's a high energy low patience guy who isn't afraid of anyone and doesn't take shit, and I think the closest thing he would have to a soft side is a kind of thuggish loyalty to comrades. He strikes me as the kind of guy that insists that he's fine and has nothing to talk about all the way up until he shoots himself in the head. Things get to him and he has feelings, obviously. Everyone does. So a softer side does exist. But I don't think he'd ever show anyone. The watershed moment that Nick and Judy share on the skycar? That would never happen with Finnick. He's the kind of character who, _if_ he were "broken" and not coping, is static because he can't fix himself and he won't let others in to fix him. Hence why he's a secondary character and why he works as one.

They aren't the only kind of relationship, yet people are obsessed with that. It would have been nice to see Nick and Judy being freindly, especially since Nick probably doesn't have any real friends (Finnick and the shrew mafia guy are just his crime partners...they probably don't really like him). >>80848484I can see it both ways but we'll never really get any confirmation because he's shown so little you "feel like" because there's barely anything to go on. Remember, Nick honestly had that kinda thing going too. In fact, he was worse i think. The feeling that most people get from Finnick is because of his voice and that there's no second half where he's developed like Nick.So we're really just arguing our feelings that we superimpose on this character that has a criminally tiny amount of screentime.
