LAGOMORPHS have one of HIGHEST reproductive rates of mammals. A EUPHEMISM for SEXUAL REPRODUCTION is MULTIPLYING. When OFFICER JUDY HOPPS (a LAGOMORPH) was explaining how the FOX evaded paying TAXES, OFFICER JUDY HOPPS had to use the MATHEMATICAL OPERATION of MULTIPLICATION. Saying that LAGOMORPHS are good at MULTIPLYING has a DOUBLE MEANING as it refers to both SEXUAL REPRODUCTION and the MATHEMATICAL OPERATION.

Does anybody else dislike the ending when Nick became a cop?I only ask because it really seems to mess up the character dynamic of the two. Blue uniform vs a green con-man outfit. Street smarts vs authority, it just worked better how it was at first. It might have made a satisfying ending but isn't very good for sequel material.

>>80789585You kidding? They're on their way to being one of the best detective duos on the force. I halfway want the hypothetical sequel to start with the two of them split up (on duty) because Bogo needs their smarts spread around the force instead of concentrated together.

Nick and Judy simply strike me as at their best working together. Whether romantic or platonic, the bond they've formed means they're well synchronized and their best best ideas come from ping-ponging ideas like a two-mammal Geth hivemind.Pair them with someone else and while they'll still be effective, it's not going to be a "wrap up a case that took weeks for other cops in the span of 48 hours" of when they're together, and chances are, whoever else they get partnered with is going to end up lagging behind a lot.>Judy tries to be patient with her partner who is supposed to be a seven year vet but isn't making the connections she's working out>Nick is just outright unhelpful with his partner and talking more to himself than them.
I've seen this film 5 times now and my joy from it hasn't diminished in the slightest. If anything, I love noticing the things I didn't from the first couple of times. Seeing Judy's nose twitch sends my heart a flutter. My question for the sequel is, do you think there should be some sort of time skip? After, let's say a year, the two have distanced themselves from one another. The gap can be later explained via television series. I don't know, I think it'd be weird to start it off from where the first movie ended.

There’s currently a petition at Change.org started by an anonymous individual asking “furries,” a subculture of people interested in fictional anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics, to stop producing Zootopia porn. The petition has received 223 signatures, and counting, but it seems that the individual who started it had a change of heart. In an update, the person, who identified as “Furries Against Yiff,” wrote, “[N]evermind i just looked at some of the porn and its actuially [sic] kinda hot please make more.”
>>80791813There are two lines specifically from Judy that I absolutely love the delivery on.One is when her voice finally cracks and she starts crying here for "And afterwards..."The other is when she's talking to Bellwether in the mayor's office and she says "but I think I broke it..."I love how Goodwin delivered those lines.

So, the reason I heard for the change in story is that the audience wouldn't want to save Zootopia, they'd want nick to get out of it. But if I'm not mistaken, the guy and girl driving out of the shit town is a common film noir trope. Would this not have worked?

>>80792962the solution is simple.just post the shit in /trash/bing bang boom, you have a forum to post and discuss it, and it does nothing to hamper any actual discussion on the real threads.
>>80792788I honestly think this is the best fic in terms of getting the characters right.
>>80792950Isn't fan art fan content?
>>80792749>>80792786Sunlight City and At Our Core both have very little shipping in them at the moment. The latter especially has been exploring Judy and Nick more as platonic partners with little hints of a serious romance.
>>80792962I got news for you: compiling a list of fanfics and writers is going straight down that path. It might even be a sign it's too late.
>>80793024Trash is mostly just people wanting to jerk off to porn.
>>80793008meant to cote>>80791904 as a story without shipping
>>80793038it is 100% down the path, one of the old frozen general guys is one of them that's actually fucking doing it. people keep linking to his tumblr for it.
>>80793038Nah, someone just wanted a list, that's it.
>>80793076This is the first thread I've seen it in, and I didn't even realize who the guy was when I saw it.
>>80793063Oh God this looks so fucking terrible. So so fucking awful, holy shit.
>>80793024>>80793038It's not like the fanfic list gets posted at the top of every thread. Seriously, I don't read them, but you guys bring more attention to them than the people who are actually interested in reading them do because you always go off on tangents about how they're ruining threads but on their own they get few replies in the first place.
>>80793031thanks ill check out "at our core"
>>80792902This movie has made fags of us all anon...
>>80793087But I love her.I just want her to embrace her inner submissive sheep.
>>80793127Speak for yourself faggot.
>>80793113This.I don't think the fic people have been that obnoxious. Usually its just someone posts an update to their story, a few people go "Oh hey thats cool" and then its business as usual. But then people complain about it and then the thread turns into an argument about it, and then we are derailed by default. If the threads were to turn into nothing but trading fics, that would be a problem, but it hasn't.
>>80793113>on tangents about how they're ruining threadsI do not.I go off on tangents about how they WILL ruin future threads by making this shit into a full general instead of the uneasy middleground we currently are.Avoid posting fanfictionAvoid talking about fanfictionit will keep movie discussion going for longer.
>>80793127I honestly have never sperged this hard over any other movie or tv show. I'm not usually like this. Why is this happening?
>>80793008Interesting concept though.I think the best possible way for a non-shipping fic/story would be to focus on side-characters other than Nick and Judy. How about Finnick and an unlikely partner (Travis? Weaselton?) solving a mystery while trying to avoid Nick (because he's actually guilty of something as well and would be arrested if we actually told teh cops?)
I don't understand, why do mods care about fanfics or generals in the first place? This is /co/ and fanfics, though some may find them bad, are still part of the overall discussion about the original work. I mean, even if this does become a general, it's just one thread on a board.
>>80793185You've found something you like, that's all.have you never liked something before?
>>80793179You could also try bitching about them less. That would bring less focus to them.We aren't /frg/, not yet even with the occasional fic posting.
Best poster. Currently awaiting a frame for it.
>>80793179You still bring more attention to them than necessary b being a doomsayer, when again, the threads aren't even close to being dominated by them. I've seen tons of threads that hit the limit without fanfics even being mentioned at all.If you keep sperging out every time they're posted you're really no better than someone like barneyfag.
>>80793204Oh to be this ignorant of the horrors that generals bring...
>>80793200>I think the best possible way for a non-shipping fic/story would be to focus on side-characterssorry to say, but platonic nick and judy works very well
>>80793113This.Enough arguing. I just ignore posts I don't like anyway.Let's talk about what could have been: Zootopia Zero. A possible prequel using the old concept of shock collars and dystopia. Maybe even feature Nick's dad in place of Nick. It'll be like the prequel trilogy to the Star Wars we currently have.
>>80793257i go to /d2g/ and it doesn't seem that badis it specifically /co/ generals that are the issue?
>>80793200>I think the best possible way for a non-shipping fic/story would be to focus on side-characters other than Nick and Judy.I'm sorry but what? No, you simply set out with an actual fucking story. When you set out specifically for "X and Y to get together" you don't have a real damn story. How about Nick and Judy take on the black market, figuring out that they use the tunnels in the Nocturnal District to hide and move their products around the city without the ZPD finding out.
>>80793185No idea. Maybe there's more to this film than can be explained? Like something beneath the surface... idk. Regardless, I'm in the same boat as you.I usually rail against Disney for how overrated they are and how obnoxious their fans can be, but this movie...I think it has to do with Nick and Judy - they just feel more real and authentic than almost any other cartoon character that I can think of. I mean... I've already bought the Art Book and Disney Infinity figures of Nick and Judy. What the fuck is happening?
>>80793271To make it a prequel, we would have to go back a good while into the past. Like a generation at least.
>>80793200Another non-shipping fic would involve a story detailing what happened inside the prison facility that kept the savage animals captive. You could set it from one of the savage's perspective, especially if you see them as being enraged and hyperinstinctive versus truly mad, so they're being dominated by their emotions while still understanding and seeing the destruction they've caused.Or from the perspective of a scientist who intends to do the right thing by these people but gradually sees them more as creatures after they justify worse and worse medical experimentation for their sake.
>>80793271wouldn't work as something so recent would most certainly spoil the idea of Zootopia in the mind of a child. The old concept is dead for a reason.
>>80793291Let me put it this way: /co/ generals start to turn out like /ksg/ because the content is so static. /frz/ was the worst about this because they devolved into lesbian incest roleplaying. They stopped discussing the actual movie like 8 months before the end.
>>80793271>It'll be like the prequel trilogy to the Star Wars we currently have.Do...do you WANT it to suck?
>>80793291Game generals work because they get constant updates, mod communities, and multiplayer to keep them alive/co/ generals get a new topic once a week and then get stuck in a stale loop for an entire year after that
>>80793359If you're going to use my edit, use the whole edit.
>you will never have a girl realize her true feelings for you after a long adventure full of intensity that only served to cement your need for each other.
>>80793224But I don't usually collect several hundred MBs of images for my other likes. This is an obsession.>>80793321Same. It's something about the characters and the story. I can't get over it. I usually think I am a sane, normal person, but this is making me doubt myself.I guess I don't mind it. I had a thing for the Lion King when I was a kid, and this feels sort of like that. This movie is literally reminding me what it was like to be a kid seeing the Lion King for the first time.
>>80793361And yet /v/ banished generals to /vg/ and /co/ hasn't done the same with something like "/cog/". Weird.
>>80793380>Cue them getting T-boned by Flash 5 seconds later because Judy let go of the brake
>>80793224Not that anon, but I've liked and obsessed over stuff before.I'm not sure I've ever gotten hooked onto something as quickly as this film though. Like, this movie felt more tangible than almost any other animated movie that I can think of - especially in the character department.
>Every single Nick pic has Judy in it
>>80793344Don't compare anything to /ksg/. That's literally some advance level autism. 'Thousands of threads before losing count and starting over and reached the thousands again and they still exist. It's pretty much just a vaguely KS themed chat room at this point.
>>80793397>And yet /v/ banished generals to /vg/And yet it has the same DoA, Neptunia, Touhou, Persona, Senran Kagura, etc. threads every single day anyway. So a lot of good that did.
>>80793397/vg/ was created because there were so many fucking generals clogging up the board that moot actually had to boot them off to their own board/co/ doesn't have the same problem
>>80793425No, /ksg/ was a good equivalent to how bad /frz/ got.
>>80793422I can hook you up, bruh.
>>80793397Because the video game generals, while still being able to have a semblence of something to talk about, started clogging up the board.Imagine all of /vg/ placed into /v/There simply wouldn't be enough room for half of what is talked about./co/ generals stagnate when there's no content, and when there is no content the threads are deleted, because of what they become. When a show is running, or a movie opens, generals are free to happen, so long as they talk about the actual content and there's only ever one thread at a time, ever.
>>80793407well I'm thinking that scene happens at the end of the second movie, and it cuts to credits afterwards
>>80790730I found it a little odd they didn't bring up the whole "cute is our word" thing again.
>>80791329I felt a little bit weird about>The real villain all along was a seemingly weak and oppressed minority figure who emblemized and supported racial inclusivity programs while working behind the scenes with exclusively members of her own racial niche to demonize and eventually exterminate the "powerful" class and get herself into power

>>80793394>I guess I don't mind it. I had a thing for the Lion King when I was a kid, and this feels sort of like that. This movie is literally reminding me what it was like to be a kid seeing the Lion King for the first time.I feel ya. For me it was "Lion King" and "How to Train Your Dragon". I still consider HTTYD to be my favorite all-time film, but even so Zootopia feels more real than either of them.I mean, the characters in those movies felt concrete and well fleshed out. In Zootopia they actually felt entirely real, like I'm in utter amazement that a cartoon could make its two protagonists seem like more than just well-developed and acted animations. Also I've heard that people were having dreams about this movie since the first teaser was released... there's something more to this film we just don't know what it is yet. Maybe my crack theory of Disney having access to other dimensions for their movies isn't entirely unfounded lol.
>>80793419>>80793394Eh, I really got into Frozen.Like REALLY fucking got into it. I was a fucking namefag and I'm ashamed of it. Even wrote some shit. But in the end generals or any kind are just so fucking toxic. The point is to understand when you need to walk away. Cute art is fine to collect, and appreciate there's real work put into it. But don't ever get involved in any kind of community thing. There is no artistry or work put into image board threads on the internet.

>>80793687Yeah, this. I never understood how people could get so into Frozen either unless it was literally just shipping. It's not like there was much world building or lore to it, and the characters weren't especially engaging or deep either.
>>80793687I don't know if the thread is still going, but there was one recently that spelled it out very well.It was the characters, and that was it. That is what murders your soul.

>>80793321It managed to do the same kind of thing Monsters Inc did; authentic and believable characters with clever dialogue, and a cool setting with a lot of interesting depth to it, lots of cool things going on in the background, the sort of thing 3D animation excels at.IMO this was essentially the Monsters Inc sequel we deserved, instead of that mediocre slop a few years ago.
>>80792742would of like if he had gone savage and ready to rip apart Judy. Then looked at his reflection and see that he did deserved that muzzle.seeing himself like that he begins to fight his instincts long enough that they pull Judy out.
>>80793818in the original script, Nick does go savage, but instead of attacking Judy he protects her from other savage animals instead
>>80792742>tfw the villain in the sequel get their hands on the now oulawed nighthowler and gives some to Nick
Am I still banned?
>>80793848So wait, why would he do that? I hope it's not "power of love/friendship" because we see Emmett still being psycho when his loving wife is looking on in distress.
>>80793865apparently not. What were you in for?
i haven't been able to jerk it to anything since i saw this movie last fridayi think this movie broke my dick somehow
>>80793889His instincts to protect his friend overrides his instincts to kill/eat.
>>80793865What did you post?Judy's back? Judy's shoulders? Judy's paws?Judy's paws holding hands with someone?
>>80793889I'm sure at some point in the script there was a moment where, probably Honey, says something like "the savage animals revert to their old ways, pack like instincts, the works!" and then the Nick going savage thing, and Nick see's Judy as part of his "pack" so he protects her.
>>80793912Like you overjerked or you just cant bring yourself to jerk?
>>80793948I know that feeling
>>80793917I just don't buy it, what with Emmett's situation. It's like Nick's feelings for Judy are somehow more powerful than the formula but Emmett's for his wife aren't.>>80793940>packHe's a fox. They don't live in packs.

>>80793848>>80793889>>80793940Well that's fucking stupid. You know what would have been pretty though is if Nick did actually go savage and actually attack Judy, so we can see fit bunny kick his ass.
>>80793980the best Nick are those doodles that Byron draws of himsomeone should post them
>>80793995t-try jerking it to animals
>>80793996I'd rather see Judy go savage. Heck, maybe she'd end up on the news and spoil Bellweather's plans by showing that predators aren't the problem.
An easy go around for the whole Nick going savage and protecting Judy is to have hand to hand fights in Zootopia work out a lot like if they were "savage" again. We already know that Nick and Judy, at least, are not above going on all fours when trying to quickly move around like on stairs, and there's plenty of animal traits in how characters walk (notice that most of the characters hold their hands ahead of them, palms towards them, like their shoulders aren't really at their sides)>>80793969Red foxes often stay in a single territory and have a family in that territory, sometimes letting a few other subservient foxes into the area as well. They will protect this territory and their family.
Would anyone read a fic featuring Travis and Gideon? Judy and Nick would cameo frequently but it would mostly feature Travis hiding criminal activities from his husband[\spoiler]
>>80793969What the fuck about Emmett's situation? He was savage for over a week, and stuck in a fucking car with a stranger when he was shot. This movie did what i feared would be lost from the original script, that even though they go savage, they are STILL themselves.
>>80794028Yeah, if anything Zootopia should have made you jerk off more. Here's a little something to get you started.
>>80794051>familySo blood, or at least another fox. And Judy is a bunny, so she smells like prey. Back to square one.
>>80794058of course. as long as you post updates here.
>>80794114That's racist. Somehow.
>>80794070I think he was saying that it would make no sense for Nick to be able to fight going savage in order to protect Judy when Emmet wasn't able to recognize his own wife even though they had been married for like 40 years and had children.
I have fapped to nick multiple times
>>80794058You fuckin' know it. Post the link
>>80794083You're kind of missing the point, like the whole "can they mate" debate. It's not about real life, it's about what Disney wants to write.Judy helped Nick by this point, probably saved his life, freed him from his collar, so on, so the idea would be that he would no longer see her as a threat or as prey, but as something that worked to help him.
Before anyone makes a fourth thread, there are two new Zootopia threads up right now>>80791727>>80787734
>>80787477what do you think boy or girl?I would like for them to have a girl.Would just like see how they each handle her.
>>80794131But it says "lewd," not "fox."
>>80794135Well it was a completely different draft. Who knows if the Ottertons were even in the old version.
>>80794161Have fun choosing which one to go to.
>>80794159So Disney wants to write a story where the married couple's feelings for one another won't overcome the formula but two sometimes antagonistic relative strangers should be okay.I would be okay with the power of friendship if it didn't involve shitting on Emmett and his wife because there would be an established out to being brought under by the formula.
>>80794196The one with more replies seems like the better option
>>80794135It's not so much that Nick "fights it" so much as his instincts of what is a friend and what isn't are skewed from the other predators. Judy is seen as part of his "group" so he protects her. He'd still be red eyed savage and slavering, but he wouldn't just outright attack her.
>>80794135But he doesn't fight going savage. He DEFINITELY goes savage but instead of attacking Judy he protects her.Emmet had been stuck in a cell for a week too.Well in the film as we saw it, it would probably go about as you'd expect, but of course that was a revision from the original script.
>>80794114Hope she got the extra strength formula.
>>80794211Otterton and his wife are never placed in any kind of situation to interact in the movie. He is tethered, and she is in a completely different room, they never interact until you see them hug, where are you getting this idea that he attacks her at some point in a movie that was never even made?
>>80794243Doesn't matter. She'll run out eventually.
>>80794211See>>80794189Its no use criticizing a different version of the story based on what we got in the final version. If the ottertons had been in the old draft exactly as they were in the final version, then yeah it would have kinda shat on them. But as far as we know, they weren't. And the effect of the drug went from "You return to your primal instincts" to "you go completely savage and attack everyone" since we know Judy's uncle bit the hell out of her mom, and Bunnies I assume aren't naturally savage animals.
>>80794268>aren't naturally savage animalsMating seasons will do a number on poor male rabbits.

>>80794375there's a sizable divot in her arm, man.
>>80794375Come on, it was literally part of the big reveal on what Nighthowlers are.Judy's dad talks about how Judy's mom's brother ate one whole and then bit the hell out of her.
>>80794384I HATE third person present tense.I hear this is how Hunger Games goes. Is that accurate?
>>80794450Who knows, I don't know anyone, even people that love the movies, that have actually read it.I normally write in first person past, which is probably why I don't write anything for zootopia, since it's hard to have two main characters with that.

>>80794558I know it is, man.I know it is.I've got 200 pages of noir shit from other fandoms. Noir is my fucking jam. It's the reason Zootopia will continue to be my number one favorite Disney movie.I did have an idea that starts out with Nick laying on his couch in an almost drunken stupor, half listening to the TV as he falls alseep basically rolling up Pro's and Con's for being a police officer. The next day we find that Judy's been promoted to Corporal and is basically the go to person to train rookies, which she is doing on night shifts at the time, while Nick ends up doing desk work. The list would be a running thing throughout the story with items being added, removed, and moved from a Pro to a Con as the case of the story goes on. The idea being that Nick is thinking of quitting the force and making himself a private practice. There's just something stopping me from doing it thought, and I'm convinced it's because Judy wouldn't have any kind of narrative input. To me I can't just have it be just Nick, gotta have Judy's side, a flip flopping first person narrative is just out of the question.
>>80794603>Batman>Lois Lane>Hawkeye>Mystique>Rocket RaccoonWTF man. My mind just blew.
>>80794713>please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI, please be BSI...>flip flopping first person narrative How about chapter-by-chapter? >>80794772No, it becomes too confusing. And what the hell is BSI?

I'm branching out and trying a whole bunch of stuff with Hunted because I want to practice writing different styles, so I know that there's going to be a lot that I'm not getting right or doing things that seem weird. I just find it interesting to see what people like and why. Thanks for the encouragement, though--it's appreciated.
>>80794948You have to keep track of two different character's inner thoughts, what it is they've seen, and be able to write both with a different enough monologue that they are easily distinguishable from the other. That's a lot of work, and generally it's all for not because people will still get confused.>>80794883Sorry no, I mostly turned other shit that was nothing like noir and put it into the style. But I know who you are talking about, and I also know who you are.Let it go.
>>80795036On the other hand, it allows you to give counterpoint opinions and perspectives to different scenes, especially if its not purely chronological (as in a scene happens with one character, then the next character's chapter starts before said event so they can experience it.)As long as the plot you are writing isn't too complicated, your readers should be able to keep up with whats going on if you make it clear who is the focus character.
>>80795036>Let it go.I still have around 200k words to write before I can do that. Not that I will.
