Ok, so the most obvious idea for a sequel suggested has been that they introduce lizards and birds. I could see that - to reduce international tensions, they set up a bird/reptile district in Zootopia so it becomes more multicultural and Nick and Judy, being the most well-known faces of predator/prey integration and cooperation, have to make sure nothing upsets the initial integration. But what about a second, equally obvious sequel idea: Mr. Big wants to make some big moves (so to speak) and Judy has to decide where her loyalties ultimately lie?Or a combination of both? While the reptiles and birds are introduced into their own district and the hustle and bustle of the big city, Judy discovers that Mr. Big is involved in some dastardly plot to bust up the integration plot and needs to choose her loyalties.Just as the first movie's predator/prey plot is actually a backdrop to the whole "you can be what you want" story, the second one's integration plot could serve as a backdrop for "now that you are what you want to be, can you stay loyal to what you are?"
It needs to have Nick and Judy's wedding with Nick meeting Judy's family and Gideon and his husband catering.
>>80749053Why is this the only thing people wanna talk about?
It needs to introduce the reptile and/or bird civilizations, but I don't know how they would do that without making it all about race again. Prejudice was a great theme for this movie but they should do something different for the sequel.I do want Nick and Judy to end up together by the end, but I don't want the main plot/conflict to revolve around their relationship. Maybe it can be a sideplot or something, but I don't want the major theme of the movie to be about interspecies marriage acceptance or whatever.
>>80748878These threads need to die
I'd prefer them to go to a newly created Aquatic district (consisting of Cetaceans, Pinnipeds and Sirenians)
>>80748878>Reptiles>BirdsIs there a limit to which animals have obtained sentience in Zootopia?I figure the predators must eat SOME sort of meat, and so far I've been assuming fish or birds have been the primary source of it.But if Birds have sentience, what's stopping marine animals? Fish, sharks, mollusks and the like? What about insects, arachnids, all manners of bug?
>>80749053I haven't watched the movie, is Gideon implied to be gay?
>>80750696One thing he says very slightly implies it. Something about pent up rage over his identity but that could mean a lot of things.
>>80751304Isn't Judy's neighbors gay as well? I love how Disney is only a few years short of going full LGBTBBQ.

>>80750520Everything in this universe has turned bipedal, somehow. What does this mean for aquatic mammals? Do they have massive handicaps compared to everyone else, or have they gone anthro too?

>>80752922>The neighbors were assholes and anusive to each other.>anusiveLOL.Some couples argue and fight a lot.
>>80752830>We talk about sequel potential in every thread anyways.This. Why is it OPs in Zootopia threads always start with the lamest topic? And they're very quick to start one too.
>>80750696He's got that "reformed southern homeboy who came to terms with his sexuality and found his passion in [trade/career]" vibe going on.
I hope birds and reptiles don't get their own regions and are shown to be unevolved and non-sapient like they are in our world.
Make the next movie 5 years in the future where nick and Judy have become detectives. The beat cop thing is played out.
So where can I go to find more fanart of this movie? Since these threads seem to be dieing down I need a place to go to find more cute NickxJudy
>>80753276>DetectivesNothing they do or say hints at that being a wanted profession[Spoiler]I will only accept it if the story is noir again
>>80750696It's literally headcanon. As a kid he bullied Judy but when she meets him again as an adult he's really humble and has his own baking/catering business. He apologizes to her for bullying her as a kid and says he had a lot of "self-doubt" as a child, which people interpreted as him not being comfortable with his sexuality. But that's honestly like the most generic bully excuse ever. There's nothing that straight out implies he's gay and no one on the team has commented on it. It's just people wanting a character to husbando.
>two male characters live together, any relationship beyond being roommates not even hinted at>THEY'RE GAYi hate cartoons
>>80748878Fuck reptiles and birds. Including them kills the aesthetic. Most of them are rodent sized pests, handless and overdone. You include them then every waitress is a penguin, every dancer is flamingo or snake. And the air is full of flying flocks of birds in polka dresses and wifebeaters. Chickens making out with bears. Fuck em.If they're going to make second movie, borrow drafts from earlier ideas, focus on Nick, give Finnick bigger part and Nick should get beat up because of Judy's fuck up. Theres that unused model of Nick ragged and black eyed, use that. No romance, really. Keep tossing implications and moments between them, but never go 100%.
>>80753406>>80753276You can be a detective and remain on the police force. A detective in most cases is simply a senior officer that gets paid more and slightly more privileges when it comes to protocol and securing a crime scene. They also don't have to stay in uniform while on the job. It's like a promotion of sorts, but they're still considered to be around the same level as a normal officer in the chain of command. Now the two opening up their own agency is something completely different.
>>80753680"Sorry I bullied you, I was just gay and frustrated," is the most generic bully excuse ever? Is there a very special episode of Doug or Hey Arnold I missed?
Sequel needs to go full Lethal Weapon 2>Reptile diplomat from notLasVega shows up and starts doing illegal shit>Nick and Judy try to prove what he is doing but he uses diplomatic immunity/claiming reptile discrimination as a cover>entire thing is one zany action scene after another until they can prove the reptile is up to no good with hard evidence>sub-plot about Nick finally proposing to Judy but keeps getting interrupted
>>80753791No. Saying you were insecure or didn't know who you were is.The bully really being an insecure or nice person deep down is like one of the most played out tropes in media.
>>80749053Fine, we can't go a single thread without somebody fangasaming over how great it would be for Nick and Judy to get married so I'll do something just for you guys.I'm going to make a storyboard of Nick and Judy going through the Married Life sequence from Up.Sound good?
>>80753858NOTHIS IS NOT OK

>>80750701Here you go.And that's actually a really interesting idea with Nick and Bellwether, gotta admit I'm a sucker for heroes seeing a bit of themselves in the villains
>>80753692They share a last name. I googled it and was directed to tumblr, thought "oh shit, here comes the 100% confirmation claim" and even there someone was just pointing out that they had the last name and are two different species. Could be gay, could be brothers, either way inter species relationships aren't unheard of. So rejoice, shippers.
>>80753692Hate the people saying they're gay.
>>80753843>>sub-plot about Nick finally proposing to Judy but keeps getting interruptedOverdone as fuck and shouldn't be attempted. Also PLATONIC FRIENDSHIP
>>80753791Pretty sure they meant the whole excuse of "I was just bullying you because I didn't know of any other ways to express myself or didn't want people to think I was a punk."You see it in cartoons all the time. Bully antagonizes character for most of the series and then there will be an episode where they're forced to interact and it's revealed the bully is actually a nice person putting on a front or has some kind of bad situation at home that explains their behavior.
>>80753919>PLATONIC FRIENDSHIPfucking thisI'm tired of everything having to be a romance
>>80753693That's exactly how they do that joke tooIt'd be doubly perfect if they also confirmed Clawhauser and Gideon as straight
>>80753858Where's that mistake into miracles art of pregnant Judy with Nick, and that certain Up scene in the background.
>>80753953>everything having to be a romanceExcept me.
>>80753896A detective isn't a PI. In most cases the term detective is used to refer to someone who is employed by law enforcement.
>>80753914>>80753692Well they do share a hyphenated last name.Which of course is something siblings can share. But hyphenated names are so uncommon in media, that it makes me think its supposed to be a hint that they aren't brothers. Mostly because they are gag characters, not serious and their names aren't even mentioned in the movie. So yeah, once I saw that I sorta bought into the maybe they are gay thing, though before I was on the side of "siblings"Of course since none of this is explicitly said anywhere, headcanon rules the day until something is officially stated
>>80753858>I'm going to make a storyboard of Nick and Judy going through the Married Life sequence from Up.Someone already did that. I think it came from tumblr or somewhere.
>>80753680You leave out how "gay" he made his business look.

>>80753982I know theres a difference. The other anon was saying they could open their own agency. WHich sounds more like PI than detective, since detectives still work in the police office.

>>80753700>No romance, really. Keep tossing implications and moments between them, but never go 100%.Do you even Disney? Almost every sequel (especially direct-to-video ones) introduced romance to movies that didn't feature it.The writers themselves already said that romance wasn't part of the first movie because it was supposed to be a buddy cop story, so you can bet your ass it will be a big part of the second movie, just not necessarily the entire plot. Especially since they are very aware of the fandom and all the shipping that's going on.
>>80754067Well its less common in the states. My entire life, I've only ever met one person whose name was hyphenated
>>80754121>90% chance disney won't make it just platonicsigh
>>80754077I used to think that too, but I've been up and down Google trying to find a gayer pie baking business. I can't.Doesn't make him gay, though.
I have an idea for a bit. Bear being processed in the background, claiming he was just doing what came natural. Later on, one of the leads takes them to a psychiatric facility for some reason. While they're walking to the destination, we head an obviously upset rabbit telling his story to a therapist about how a bear who was squatting behind a bush asked if he minded if crap got in his fur, and he's so traumatised by what happened he can't go on. Maybe some secondary crossing paths with the rabbit where he keeps mumbling "it'll never wash out, never..."
>>80754020It's a bakery. It looks "gay" by default. I honestly don't care one way or another, just recognize that it's pure speculation.
>>80754117i'm ready famalama
>>80753726Lion King and Beauty and the Beast both had a new song each on their Blu-Rays, but I think that was done up for the theatrical re-release. Also, the song they added to The Lion King was really frivolous and kind of shit (they should have added the song where Scar tries to seduce Nala because that looked really entertaining), and the song for Beauty and the Beast wasn't bad but it was a bit dull and didn't really add anything. It would be great if they gave us an extended cut of Zootopia on Blu-ray but I somewhat doubt it will happen. Best case scenario we might get an additional short that takes place after the movie, but I have a feeling Disney would rather release it with another big movie in the theater so we won't see it on Blu-Ray for a while (that's what they did with the Tangled and Frozen shorts).

>>80754204Honesty, as long as the movie it was with wasn't pure garbage, I'd be fine with them doing a short first. Preferably about Nick and Judy getting together if they decide to go that route. >>80753693They get right up to their vows and then pull out guns. Everyone is under arrest!
I went in expecting a cute lil movie but it really was a lot more than that, I loved it. It didn't feel all that childish. I loved how the world and characters all felt genuine. The film just made me happy. I'm actually a little worried for a sequel because I want to see Nick and Judy confirmed to be a couple and I just dunno if they'll do it.Like I get people saying you can have really close friends, which is true. But when you have two characters who work so well together, get to actually grow and get to know each other, without the romance feeling forced? It'd break my heart if they didn't get together romantically. Especially with the moral the entire movie had. Bringing in any other love interest would feel shitty after all.I just want them two to have a happy ending where get to wake up beside the other every day. I've no idea what this movie did to me.

Would anybody have liked it more if they kept the original 'Nick goes feral but instead of attacking Judy protects her' thing instead of the blueberry switch? These two became a couple, so I don't see why Disney would think Nick and Judy can't be.Though I'm glad they didn't officially become a couple in this movie, it'd be better to let stuff like that happen over time in a sequel instead of within the short time frame Zootopia took place in.

>>80756314I liked them tricking Bellwether after them tricking each other for the whole movie. Wouldn't be another hustle with this ending.
I'm seriously scared about how much I love this movie. This movie is made by Disney, a corporation and as every corporation its goal is to make a lot of money, the target demographic is obviously the families, it has references to other movies like The Godfather, the movie is not colossally complex, it has funny moments for kids and some for adults, it's totally not subversive except if you compare it with the other Disney movies ever made, it has the same kind of marketing than any family animated movie, it was made by a mainstream studio and however I love this movie.Compared this movie with any other masterpiece like the Schindler's List, Casablanca, Citizen Kane, the Seven Samurai, the Godfather and more would be very stupid since it was not product in the same context and goals than any masterpiece of the cinema, but Zootopia is honestly my favorite movie of all time and that remark scares me and makes me ask to myself if I'm becoming crazy or it's just the hype of the moment and that will die one day or another...What the fuck is happening to me?
>>80756533but that's stupid. the nighthowler doesn't care how good of a person you are, you just go nuts. having nick resist it would be like him shrugging of a tranquilizer just because determination
>>80750654At this point, we can only assume Mammals are cannonically the only sentient organisms. Fish and bugs are out, as we see plenty of Fish markets when Judy's train goes through tundra town, and the flies that take refuge inside Yax's afro don't seem smarter than any other insect.Creators have made comments about sentient birds and reptiles, but they could easily change their minds before we get anything close to a sequel.
>>80756558dogs can't exist in Zootopia no matter how much you want them to.
>>80756578Disney may be a money-hungry corporation that cares nothing for profit, but the people they paid to make this movie probably did it with love and appreciation for animation and film.
>That episode where they need to undercover to infiltrate a prison gang and Nick tries to teach Judy how to be "hard". Shenanigans ensue because Judy is too niceWhat sort of things would Nick need to teach Judy about gang culture, /co/?
>>80756613I know how people hate fanfics, but I would love to see someone write this.
>>80756630Cares for nothing but profit, rather
>>80756578Even if it was made as a whole by a corporation we can see by the creators, concepts, and in the movie itself that a lot of love and thought went into this movie. It may not be perfect or my favorite movie, but I don't think I'd be too far fetched for it to become someones favorite.

>>80754706why is Nick so perfect?
>>80756581Well it was from an earlier draft. Perhaps then, it explictly was them returning to their natural instincts instead of just turning savage and attacking whatever.Especially since we learn that even bunnies will attack others when affected by it in the final version.Basically what I'm saying was the exact effect of nighthowlers was different in a previous draft
>>80756722it would be a stupid power-of-friendship moment.and now nighthowlers are still a credible threat for sequels, since neither of our protagonists are established as being arbitrarily immune to it.

He has no understanding of zero point perspective. Also his OC is an MLP character with tentacles, which is all you really need to know about him 2bh
>That episode with the Smugjar>Nick is basically broke by the end of the week
>>80756547Humanity goes extinct because of incurable degenerative disease.Last Human uses time travel to pluck 5 kids out and drop them in the humanless world because he can't decide if he should use the giant satellite in orbit to make all animals be able to communicate with each other because it'd pretty much cause a massive upheaval of the entire planets ecology. The Genetic monstrosities that humanity made to fight wars for them still retain guarding the last archive of humanity and the final arc of the story involves animals fighting genetic monstrosities for the fate of the world, including a Sloth that basically trained it's arms to the point where it can swing them fast enough that nobody can see before it decapitates something at the cost of doing it too many times in succession will make his heart literally explode due to the amount of blood being pumped for that explosive burst.
>>80756757Hey now... the fuck, man?
>>80756846the implication is he fought it and won.once you know it even can be beaten, it doesn'r carry as much gravity.
>in the sequel Judy & Nick basically have become heroes to the city>Judy discovers all the shipping between her and Nick on the interzoo
>>80756887tfw no qt otter wife
>>80756757We know that marriage between people of different species happens. Predator prey relationships probably happen too.
>>80756846Thats kind of the definition of a "power of friendship moment"The thing is that in the original version it was supposed to show that even if animals are still instinctual creatures, predators like Nick can still be defined by more than their instincts to hunt. When he gets hit by the nighthowler, instead of tearing Judy to shreds as his hunting instincts would dictate, he protects her from others because his protective instincts towards her are stronger than his need to hunt. But in the final version, it has nothing to do with instincts, its just "Affected animals will go berserk and attack everyone"
>>80756032I want to pick her up, put her in a trashcan, duct tape it closed, and kick it down the steepest street in Zootopia.
>>80756853Pretty much the same reasons I dislike them. Minus their obvious copycating of better artists.
>>80756887I like Mr. Otterton's big nose
>>80756913Well I could see it being that Predator/predator and Prey/Prey relationships are more accepted, but Predator/Prey relationships are looked down on since the issue of Predators and Prey is already established. So if Nick got with like a wolf, I'm sure it would be less frowned on than him getting with Judy, a bunny
>>80756878>Once you know it's slightly possible to survive, it doesn't carry as much gravity
>>80756945I wanna spray her goons with the serum and lock them in a box with her
>>80756314The thing is, Zootopia is a movie with grit. It's bright and colorful and has funny animals, but it's a gritty, grounded movie dealing with some heavy themes. Additionally, Night Howlers does not just revert an animal to its base instincts, it induces a more violent state as well. Otterton went after a creature several times his weight after tearing up the inside of the limo rather than just fleeing when he saw a chance, and Judy's uncle bit her mother hard enough to tear a chunk of her arm out. Judy and Nick's friendship overpowering the influence of Night Howlers, while heartwarming, just doesn't fit. Nick and Judy's better natures and friendship drove them to fight Belleweather's conspiracy and save the day, but they did so by being SMART. Nick and Judy's friendship being powerful already serves a purpose in their reconciliation when Judy comes back to Zootopia in the final act. Their better natures and friendship allowed them to bridge a gap that was the overarching theme of the entire movie - predator and prey being separated by fear.

>>80750654>I figure the predators must eat SOME sort of meat, and so far I've been assuming fish or birds have been the primary source of it.They said on social media it was insects and fish. Thing is, I don't see that as plausible. It's easy enough for a lion to eat bugs and fish, but trying to live on that exclusively seems like you would be missing out on some vital shit if your normal diet consisted of large mammals like zerba. Animals are also very different from one another; they aren't just reskins of a generic predator/prey class. Some might get by on this diet, others wouldn't.I've seen stray cats pass by large insects while on the way to raid the neighbor's trash can; all to get the rancid, spoiled meat inside. If rotten meat is preferable to a bug right in front of them, then they really need genuine meat to live. Likewise, I am sure a person caught trying to feed their cat only crickets would get in a little trouble.

Nick is secretly the main protagonist of this movie, think about it.It's not about a bunny defying the odds and becoming a cop and saving the city with her childish youthful optimism, it's about Nick's faith in the city and in himself being restored after years of believing he was predator trash.

>>80758773The difference is is that Zootopia's actually a good movie, when Infinite is trash.
>>80755971I had a bunch of idiots who laughed or screamed or did... something for every stupid kids' movie trailer that played before the film. I was REALLY worried they were going to be intolerable during the movie, but they calmed down, thank goodness.

>>80758909>>80758889>>80758964I gotta say, it's really jarring seeing some of those trailers, and then seeing Zootopia, and how seriously it takes itself compared to most of the movies they show in the beginning.

>>80758909I intentionally show up to the theater about 10 minutes after the showing time, just to skip most of the trailers.

>>80748878>Starts a year after Nick and Judy have been partners.>Crime has gone down in Zootopia Central as a result.>This makes crime in other areas more noticeable. >Nick and Judy are sent to a small town area like Bunny Burrow to investigate a missing cop case.>The two are chosen because 1, they're the best team on the force and 2, they're so good that they make everyone else look bad by comparison.>The cop is revealed to be a Grizzly Bear but the police department there doesn't seem to be all concerned. >They point to the victim's brother, Bernard Fain, as being the prime suspect.>The brothers had been known to fight a lot and the victim was last seen heading towards his brother's home.>The two confront the brother and find that the rumours of his bad temper are true. They also find that he and his brother were definitely not on good terms.>He however, claims his innocence and the film now revolves around the three looking for the lost cop and clearing the bear's name.>Nick has a rough time due to him being looked at as a city slicker and not really knowing anyone there.>Judy also finds it tough but knows what to expect coming from the country herself. >The three start to unravel a larger conspiracy that the whole town could potentially be in on. >>80755971there was hardly a scene I didn't laugh. especially when Nick and Judy broke up, hilarious!
>>80759335>>80759453>>80759526I think, that the first movie covered the general areas of the city though. Maybe, the first twenty minutes of the film could be a montage of the year before the plot? Pretty much Nick and Judy going from district to district solving big case after big case and then suddenly out of the blue, they're sent to some backwater town. Maybe the two don't take the assignment as seriously, developing some conflict between them and the bear or something?
